Chapter 6 - Luke or Kaleb

"I heard from your shadows what happened in the meeting today? What do you plan to do?" She said as she went and sat on the chair in front of Claudia. Claudia sighed for her part and said

"I don't know, the destined one and Luke Wayne. I can't decide which one of them is better to support me. Child of Light has the talent superiority, but Luke Wayne not only has the Wayne family but also the emperor's favor. If I want the throne, both are important; I can't assassinate either of them, so I lose one to Thomas either way." Claudia complained about her situation, she was the first princess, the eldest of all her siblings.

Her father and mother's marriage has been strictly political, and later, when she died of a rare disease, which was likely caused by her stepmother herself. If there is anything her mother taught her, it was that she was supposed to be the first female empress to ascend the throne. Soon it came crashing down when Thomas was born, although her stepmother didn't treat her wrong, it was still much less love in her eyes than when she saw her kids. She gets that too, who would love an affair child of the cheating parent, same as their child.

Luckily, when her father left to meet Luke, he came back and changed the rule that only male heirs are supposed to inherit the throne. Luke likely changed her father's mind, it was also then she learned of the engagement, but thanks to the new rule, it wasn't much of a bother, if anything, it was a boon instead. Although many nobles support Thomas, if she has the backing of the Wayne family, the tables would turn in an instant.

That was the power of the Waynes, only second to the royal family and tied with the Lionheart. None of the other nobles would even dare to object, even if the Wayne family committed a rebellious act, they would only see it as a natural right execution. Not even the royal family, without the support of the Lionheart, can do anything about it.

"I have to choose between him and the child of light, Wayne, or the lionheart. Even if I give him extra points for the support he provided unknowingly, it can only match the child of light. On top of that, our negotiation with the Niven business to meet the owner was turned down faster than we could write them. They are not even opening the letter, this is so frustrating. How hard is it to inherit a simple throne?" Claudia complained and sulked at her desk while her friend ignored it completely.

"It is supposed to be difficult; you are trying to take over all of humanity, and in the future, even more trouble will follow with your ambition." Her friend said with complete logic, which just made Claudia even angrier, and threw a tantrum like a child not getting what she wanted. She finally said, "I will just ask him to reject me, so I don't seem that ungrateful and let him have one wish from the future empress."

{Wayne Manor}

Luke laid in his bed, relaxing his wounds after sparing Samuel with no magic and getting my ass handed to me on a golden platter with extra species applied. Then suddenly, the system chimed.

[ This is a choice option mission, the princess who is engaged to you is also asked by the church of Light to marry the destined one. She is currently in a dilemma whether to marry you or the destined one, and is leaning towards the destined one because of the support he provides her, being greater than yours.

Accept the princess' choice and let her marry the protagonist if she wants, but still provide her with the support of the Wayne family. Rewards: Dea–I mean, a cure to your mental illness.

Understand her dilemma, and charm her into giving up on the protagonist. Rewards: 5 rolls.

Accept the princess' choice but declare that you will maintain the neutrality of the Wayne family even if she marries you and leave rest to the princess. Rewards: 5 rolls + Respect from the system.]

Luke immediately chose the third option without even thinking about it, as if it were a strain to think about something minor. The rewards were distributed immediately, and he saw his account rise to 5 rolls as he smiled at this. He then looked out the window as he called out, "Shadow, come on out."

In a blur of movement, a shadow came out of the darkness as he kneeled before the bed. Luke said, "I authorize the movement of the Kali, find me a dungeon to conquer."

"As you order, Great King," It said, but Luke cringed at the name as he said

"Don't give me such a cringeworthy nickname."

"Cringe?" The shadow looked at him, confused at the words of its master. Luke remembered that this was a new world, as he said

"Don't worry about it. Just focus on your job, leave"

The shadow obeyed him as he left with multiple personnel, also leaving with him. Luke looked at the night sky and thought, 'It is time to reveal myself as the owner of the Niven business, but not yet, and the Dolorous Academy is going to open in 3 years. Until then, I guess training and dealing with the stupid politics is the only job I have.'
