Soo Min-ji stretched, yawning on the small wooden bed she was laying on. Her eyes flickered open. Tilting her head to the side, she looked at the window, seeing the skies were back to crimson red again.
"It's morning time already I guess," she coughed slightly, sitting up.
She looked around to see if she would catch a sight of Heuk Jin, but he was nowhere to be found.
"Hmm, and where has he gone to?" She yawned again, getting down from the bed.
Her body ached since she had spent the night on a platter of wood, but what choice did she have?
She rolled her eyes, walking out of the building.
"Aegenesis. Any daily tasks or quests today?"
[Beep! Yes!]
"Okay good," she nodded, her eyes scanning the place for any sign of a Zombie.
[I am worried that there might be an incoming threat that would shake you very soon.]
She arched her brow, her eyes squinting at the screen, "What do you mean by that?"
[I still can't get where the source of this threat is coming from, but this might disrupt the world building process.]
Soo Min-ji's breath caught in her throat, "If so, I have to complete my tasks to be able to grow stronger and finish off these zombies."
[Noted! Those host want to proceed with the daily tasks at hand?"
She exhaled deeply, "This is already so tough on the second day here," she wiped her face, "Proceed."
She went back inside to grab her small dagger just incase it came in handy.
"Where are you going]" she heard a husky voice behind her.
Her eyes popped out of their sockets, her heart drumming against her ribcage. With an agape mouth, she quickly spun around to see who it was. Heuk Jin stared back at her, "Where are you going?"
She hissed, annoyed by the fact that he had startled her in that manner.
Her chest rose, and fell in rhythm with her heavy breathing, "Don't startle people in that manner," she looked away, her hands trembling.
"Did you think it was a zombie? You do know they do not talk, right?"
"You do talk," she hissed, walking off.
A frown appeased on his forehead, "That was not nice," he crossed his arms, his lips pouted.
"Do you need help with whatever you are doing?" He called after her.
"It is my daily task, not yours. Of course I don't need your help," she hurried away from him, her cheeks blazing hot.
She increased her pace so she could be out of his sight. She didn't understand why he was making her feel so uncomfortable, yet so comfortable at the same time.
"Aegenesis?"
The screen appeared in front of her.
[Daily tasks; till a piece of soil suitable for planting crops!]
"Oh? All I can see around here is just sand, I mean sand, not the kind suitable for planting," she palmed her face.
The screen immediately opened a new interface. It was a kind of map.
"A map, huh?"
[With this map, host would be able to know where the location of this piece of soil is.]
"What am I supposed to use in tilling? My dagger?" She looked down.
"Or, you could use a homemade hoe," that same hoarse voice said behind her, presenting her the hoe.
Her eyes darted between the screen and the how in front of her, "Ugh."
[Reward; +5 STR, +3 AGI]
[Level 2 weapon will be retrieved.]
Her eyes dropped, her lips turning downwards, "Oh well, what choice do I have?" She snatched the hoe from him, storming off towards the direction the screen was pointing out for her.
"You see? You do need my help."
"In your dreams," she sneered.
"Are you sure?" He chuckled, "I do not remember that hoe falling down from the heavens."
She stopped in her tracks, spinning around to face Heuk Jin, "And why are you following me around?"
"So you do not end up dead before you even start building this world."
She clenched the hoe, "Don't make me throw this at you,"she stamped her left foot.
"I do not mind," his eyes sparkled, looking intently at her.
"Whatever," she spun back around, following the directives of the screen.
Heuk Jin followed closely behind her, his katana strapped to his back. There was no way he was letting her die again, not under his watch. He had a mission, he just had to build this world, and build her too.
"If only she would let me," he mumbled, exhaling.
He wasn't going to let history repeat itself again, and for that not to happen, he had to act, and quickly too.
Soo Min-ji had finally gotten to the particular spot the system had directed her to. The screen flickered out of her sight as soon as she arrived there.
"Let me get to work then," a corner of her lips curled up in a small smile, "I can do this," she set to work.
"You are sure you do not need any help?' she heard Heuk Jin's teasing voice behind her.
"Hey, you," she straightened herself, looking back over her shoulders, "Do me a favor. Please just stop talking so I can do this in peace."
He sat down, "Of course, I will be right here if you need me though," he then lay on his back.
"As if," she continued her tilling process.
Thirty minutes had gone by with Soo Min-ji still tilling that piece of soil. She was now sloppy, and sweaty, even though there was no sun in the skies.
"Phew," she wiped her sweaty forehead.
"Are you okay?" Heuk Jin inquired, "You seem exhausted. You should rest for a while."
She shook her head, "I am not tired."
"Hmm?"
"I'm fine," she continued her tilling, "The faster I finish this, the better."
"Help!" A shrill cry came ringing in their direction.
Soo Min-ji whipped her head up, "What? Heuk Jin did you hear that?"
He nodded, "I did, but do not bother about it."
She dropped the hoe, turning to him with widened eyes, "What do you mean I shouldn't bother?" She gawked at him.
"That might be.."
"Help me! Please!" The cry came louder than before.
"That's definitely a human's voice!" She clapped her hands excitedly, running towards the direction.
"Soo Min-ji stop! Do not go!" Heuk Jin thundered after her.
"That's on you if you decide not to help anyone! I'm going," she kept sprinting towards the source of the voice.
"Anyone? Help me!" She got closer to the person's voice.
"Hello? Where are you?" She shouted back, waiting for a response.
"Over here!" She saw a hand waving at her in a distance.
She quickly ran towards the hand. Reaching there, it was a half - naked man who was under a pile of heavy stones.
"Rocks? What? How did you get here?" She almost screamed.
"Help me. I am being chased by some dead creatures!"
"Zombies?"
"Help!"
She panicked. She immediately began to throw away the stones so it could deplete.
"Arghhh!" She heard a blood curling scream from him.
She looked down to see his hand cut off.
With dread, she slowly raised her eyes to see them, another breed of zombies.
