Chapter 11 - Reached

Under the city wall, Wang Zhi looked up at the white glowing stones on the top of the city wall above and a few dark shadows. Those were the soldiers on duty, as well as Princess Chanel and the maid Maria.

Just as he leaped onto the high wall and squatted halfway on a stone pillar, the guards on duty didn't notice the person who had appeared behind them and were still chatting idly. When they saw Princess Chanel and the maid Maria leaving, the next second, Wang Zhi disappeared from where he was.

The princess on the city wall was still chattering with the maid about Wang Zhi's whereabouts. Wang Zhi, who had already come to the carriage and was waiting, lay bored on the top of the carriage shed, looking at the starry sky. He couldn't remember how long it had been since he had such a peaceful moment, and some messy old memories flashed through his mind.

Just as Wang Zhi was enjoying the current tranquility, he faintly heard an unusual sound. He walked in the direction of the sound, and under a dim yellow original stone lamp, two vagrants were scolding and kicking a small figure.

That small figure was Alina. While being brutally beaten, she tightly held the half piece of bread that Wang Zhi had given her in the afternoon.

When the two vagrants saw that the little girl refused to hand over the bread in her hand even though she was kicked to the ground and was in so much pain that tears streamed down her face, one of them took out a small knife from his waist and actually intended to kill her.

The vagrant holding the small knife in his hand looked at Alina, who was curled up on the ground and hugging the bread, and said viciously:

"If you don't want to hand over the food, then go to hell!"

As soon as the words fell, the small knife stabbed towards Alina.

Looking at the knife in front of her, Alina closed her eyes helplessly, ready to welcome the impending death. Finally, she could leave this cruel world and meet her parents.

A sound of breaking wind sounded, and a blood spike penetrated the head of the vagrant holding the knife. Before the vagrant, who saw his companion suddenly fall down, could react, a man with scarlet eyes exuding a terrifying aura appeared in front of him. The next second, his head was shattered by a punch, and the broken brain tissue splashed and stuck to the wall.

Black flames rose up and burned the two of them to the ground. Wang Zhi turned to look at Alina and, looking into Alina's terrified eyes, said:

"If you're scared, run away quickly. You won't be so lucky next time."

After saying that, he turned around and planned to go back to the carriage to continue waiting for the two of them. A small hand tightly grabbed the corner of Wang Zhi's clothes, and Alina choked back tears and said, "Big brother, can you take me with you? I don't want to stay here anymore."

"No."

Hearing Wang Zhi's decisive refusal, she, who hadn't cried out even when being beaten by the two vagrants, couldn't hold back her sobs any longer, but her small hand still tightly grasped the corner of Wang Zhi's clothes.

"Sigh."

A memory surged in his heart, and Wang Zhi finally said:

"I can take you with me, but it's not up to me to decide where you go."

He planned to take her back and show her to the princess to see if she wanted to keep her.

"Okay! Thank you, big brother."

On the silent street, two figures, one big and one small, walked together. The small figure seemed particularly happy, and a small hand kept tugging at the corner of the tall figure's clothes.

Alina looked up at Wang Zhi's chin and asked:

"What's your name, big brother?"

"Wang Zhi."

"Great! Then I'll call you Brother Wang Zhi."

......

"Weren't you scared when you saw me just now?"

"No!"

Alina quickly shook her little head:

"I just saw such a terrifying scene for the first time. I'm not afraid of Brother Wang Zhi. Really not!"

It could be seen that she was truly afraid that Wang Zhi would think so.

"Oh."

"I'll say it again. I'm just taking you to meet the person who might take you in. If she doesn't want to, I can't do anything about it."

Hearing what Wang Zhi said, Alina's happy mood turned gloomy. She looked like a little dog with its ears drooping, and she walked slower and slower. Wang Zhi thought she was unwilling to face reality, but when he looked down, he found that her little face was a bit pale.

The long-term mental tension suddenly relaxed, and coupled with the feeling of hunger and physical pain, Alina's already struggling body became even weaker.

Sigh.

Wang Zhi picked up the little girl and held her in front of him. He could only heal his own body and couldn't help the little girl. He would ask the maid lady to help when they got back. Alina, who was lying in his arms, still held onto a corner of Wang Zhi's clothes and refused to let go.

When they returned to the carriage, they just happened to meet the two of them. They stared at each other for a few seconds, and Chanel said in surprise:

"Am I seeing things? Why are you here, sir? Weren't you still in the mountains?"

"We'll talk about it in the carriage. First, let the maid lady save her," Wang Zhi motioned to the little girl in his arms.

"Maria, I'm sorry to trouble you."

Wang Zhi put the weak Alina into the carriage. Maria spread her hands and chanted ancient magic words towards Alina. Then, a green light enveloped Alina. It was clearly visible that the bruises on Alina's cheeks, little hands, and legs began to return to normal.

This maid was indeed Princess Chanel's last line of defense. Although she was so frightened by Wang Zhi that she fainted at that time, judging from the current situation, this Maria was quite comprehensive. Otherwise, she couldn't have become a personal maid.

Outside the carriage, Chanel and Wang Zhi sat on the saddle. Chanel asked Wang Zhi how he had appeared here. She clearly hadn't seen Wang Zhi under the city gate.

In response, Wang Zhi didn't answer. Seeing Wang Zhi's silence, Chanel also said that it was indeed better for him not to expose his own strength. Also, there was this little girl he had brought back.

Wang Zhi said that he had met her once in the afternoon and just happened to hear the scolding and went over to take a look and happened to encounter this situation.

"Oh, is that so? I can't believe Lord Wang Zhi would do such a thing," Princess Chanel covered her mouth and chuckled.

In response, Wang Zhi said that he brought her back to see if she wanted to take her in. If not, he would take her back to her original place.

"You're really gentle yet cold~ Don't worry, I've thought about it and I can take her in. Actually, it's a bit empty in such a large manor with just me and Maria."

"En."

"By the way, let's talk about the main matter."

Wang Zhi took out the head of the wolf leader from the storage space. When Princess Chanel saw this head, she recognized it as the wolf leader's.

She asked in surprise how Wang Zhi had done it. This wolf often led its clan members to try to break through their city gate. A month ago, the city lord, Lete, sent three hundred elite soldiers out of the city to encircle and suppress the wolf clan, but they were ambushed and killed by the cunning wolf leader.

Their long-term display of violence had made them fall into a misunderstanding, thinking that they could only fight with their strong bodies.

Wang Zhi agreed with this. When facing the wolf pack, the wolf leader at that time wanted to brutally kill Wang Zhi, but he didn't expect this human to be so fierce that it died without giving it a chance to react.

If it had come up to command the wolf pack to besiege Wang Zhi, he would definitely have been restricted. At that time, at least half of the wolf pack could have escaped.

"Alright, let's talk about the cooperation. I can help you. What about the conditions I mentioned? Have you considered them?"

"Sir, what you mentioned has never happened in our family. I... I'm a bit unsure now. Moreover, my elder brothers and sisters will definitely not agree."

......

Wang Zhi slowly approached Chanel. This made Chanel at a loss and she subconsciously stepped back. He pressed down on her shoulders and his voice became cold:

"Your Highness, I'll say it again. I don't intend to interfere with your thoughts. I get what I want, and you get what you want."

"Also, you said your imperial brothers and sisters won't agree? You don't need to worry about that. You just need to let me go to the ruins. Understand?"

In the end, Chanel still agreed. After getting into the carriage, Chanel touched the little girl who was sleeping on her lap, glanced at Wang Zhi who was meditating, and they were silent all the way.

After returning to the manor, Chanel asked Maria to prepare a room for Wang Zhi, and she took Alina to get something to eat.

Maria led Wang Zhi to the room at the end of the second floor. After saluting, she left. Looking at Maria's hasty departure, Wang Zhi sighed that he wouldn't eat her.

When he opened the room, he saw a pure white large bed and a separate bathroom. Hmm, this medieval style made Wang Zhi feel quite good.

After taking a shower, Wang Zhi, who was only wearing pants, sat cross-legged on the bed and felt the changes in his body. He found that the activity level of the black flames had also increased. Maybe it was related to the strengthening of his physique.

In the past, there was only a wisp of fire seed still in the heart area. Now, the black flames began to circle around Wang Zhi's body and slowly move, becoming more spiritual.

After meditating for two hours, Wang Zhi went to sleep. Sleeping was a top talent of humans. No matter how mentally exhausted one was, with enough sleep, one would recover after waking up. It was simply a divine skill!
