Chapter 10 - monster

The sky gradually darkened. Wang Zhi had been in a mountain stream in the Tieling Mountains for ten minutes. After being out for so long, he finally realized that the so-called orc race didn't keep a constant watch on humans.

However, he did find some traces of life. Judging from the footprints left on the ground, they should have been left in the past few days. Following the direction of the footprints for a while, Wang Zhi came to a valley. His intuition told him not to take another step forward.

After waiting for a few minutes, Wang Zhi still didn't move. Wuwuwu~ Suddenly, an ancient and dull horn sound came from the valley. Wang Zhi heard that the sound was coming from above. Immediately afterwards, a chaotic noise came, and through the mist, he could vaguely see many black shadows appearing in the valley.

Before the group of creatures could come out of the valley, the roars of beasts were already heard. He confirmed that this was a habitat of the orc race. When the mist dissipated, there were about thirty to forty wolves with gray fur all over their bodies standing at the entrance of the valley. Their sizes were all around three meters, and the leading one was even four meters tall.

What Wang Zhi didn't expect was that this group of wolves was actually wearing vine armor. When the two sides met, the werewolves didn't immediately swarm up and kill Wang Zhi. The four-meter-tall wolf at the head had black fur, which was different from the other wolves. It walked up to Wang Zhi and let out a long howl. Obviously, their leader intended to tear Wang Zhi apart by itself.

With the long howl of the wolf leader, the other wolves also howled, scaring the birds that were about to perch in the valley to fly around.

After the howl, the wolf leader rushed in front of Wang Zhi, and its huge paw came at him. Wang Zhi blocked the paw with his Blood Blade and then retreated. Before Wang Zhi's feet touched the ground, the next paw came at his head with a strong gust of wind.

Dang!

It was blocked again. The remaining force of this blow made Wang Zhi fly backwards, and his feet plowed the ground for more than ten meters. It had to be said that the strength of the orcs was indeed powerful. For those ordinary soldiers, it was an irresistible force.

The momentum was resolved. Wang Zhi's leg muscles tensed up, and he suddenly rushed towards the wolf leader with his long knife. The arrogant wolf leader didn't plan to dodge but instead slapped down with its two claws, intending to crush this human who came to his death into minced meat.

The giant claws missed the target, and the wolf leader was puzzled. How did this human in front of it suddenly disappear? Soon, the slash on its abdomen answered its question.

The Blood Blade slashed across, and a fountain of blood spurted out from the wolf leader's abdomen.

The intense pain in its abdomen made the wolf leader let out a painful howl. Just as its claws were about to move, Wang Zhi didn't give it a chance to make the next move. The long knife slashed across the wolf leader's back again.

The "Spear of Corrupted Blood" formed and pierced through the wolf leader's neck fiercely. Then, there were more than a dozen slashes, and it all ended in just a few seconds. The huge wolf body fell down and turned into pieces of meat of different sizes scattered around. Blood splattered, and it was like a light rain falling to the ground and turning into a puddle.

The other wolves didn't realize how their leader had fallen and turned into pieces. It was not until they saw the human in front of them holding his right hand in the air, and the blood energy formed countless silk threads twisted into a scarlet bow pointing at the wolf pack.

The sound of breaking through the air sounded, and an arrow made of blood energy shot and exploded the head of a wolf. Only then did they react. The wolves howled and changed to running on all fours towards Wang Zhi.

Relying on his神速 (divine speed) explosive power, Wang Zhi leaped up the mountain stream and shot five arrows in a row, killing two werewolves. There were more than a dozen wolves in the group below getting closer to Wang Zhi with their agile figures.

After pulling the bowstring fully and shooting another werewolf, bang! A stone the size of a fist smashed into the stone wall above Wang Zhi and made a loud noise.

Wang Zhi didn't sense this. Because it was getting dark, and his attention was on the werewolves approaching him below, he really didn't expect them to throw stones. He had somewhat underestimated their intelligence.

The dense stones flew past Wang Zhi's ears like bullets. Being hit by one wouldn't cause serious injury, but it would also affect Wang Zhi's judgment.

The Spear of Corrupted Blood formed and stabbed into the group of wolves throwing stones below.

Bang!

The explosion had a diameter of eight meters. The werewolves in the center of the explosion range immediately lost their lives, and the others in the explosion range mostly had their bodies flying around.

This blow of the Spear of Corrupted Blood mainly targeted a large range and was suitable for group attacks. Only when fighting alone would the penetrating Spear of Corrupted Blood be condensed.

This blow had already scattered the wolf pack below. Without their interference, Wang Zhi's eyes turned blood red, and he held the Blood Blade and shuttled like a ghost on the mountain wall.

A werewolf chasing Wang Zhi on the mountain wall only saw a pair of scarlet pupils appear in front of him. Then, a red light flashed, and immediately his vision dropped.

In just over ten seconds, the wolf pack still climbing the mountain saw the bodies of their fellow wolves falling one by one. Only then did they realize that it wasn't them chasing and killing that human.

No! This wasn't the human they had ever encountered. This was a monster wearing human skin.

It was like the bloody god of death in the night. When it met its pupils, the head would be mercilessly harvested! The werewolves were finally scared out of their wits and rushed towards the ground one after another.

Some werewolves that didn't climb too high on the mountain wall escaped. Those who were too late could only be harvested by that damned monster without the ability to fight back. Some who were scared out of their wits jumped down from the hundred-meter mountain wall and crashed into the ground, and their lives were unknown.

Wang Zhi looked at them as if they had degenerated into a state of no intelligence and fled in a sorry state. He didn't plan to pursue them deeply either. Those present were enough for him to advance.

After detecting that there was no danger nearby, Wang Zhi gathered the wolf corpses together. The Overlord Devouring ability was activated, and the blood energy formed into a column, turning into sand-like particles and rotating in front of Wang Zhi and condensing into a blood core the size of an egg.

Holding it in his hand and making it explode, the scarlet air waves generated spread layer by layer outward. The cells in his body absorbed it疯狂 (furiously), and his blood became extremely active. The blood vessels in his body seemed to beat like a heart, and随之而来 (along with it) was a burning and intense pain.

From another perspective, Wang Zhi looked like a monster whose whole body was filled with blood-colored patterns and was about to self-ignite. The intense pain made Wang Zhi go limp on the ground and emit steam.

.....

Half an hour later, the pain gradually subsided. Feeling the violent energy in his body and the strengthened body, he had advanced to the top of the mid-stage of the second rank. This feeling of becoming stronger made Wang Zhi extremely excited, and he was eager to find someone to fight.

As soon as this thought emerged, Wang Zhi began to meditate. He didn't get up until the excitement faded away. He picked up the head of the beheaded wolf leader.

He asked Lao Hei to extract its soul and found that among the orc race in this area, there was only the wolf clan. They had been here for a year, and they were sent here to guard "Hikali".

As for why they didn't increase their troops and capture this city? The reason was very simple. The location here was not good, and the resources were also poor. Even if they captured it, they wouldn't get any benefits. The orc race invaded humans for resources.

Although they were warlike, it didn't mean they would do things that were thankless. Now that quite a few wolves had escaped, it was estimated that they would call in a lot of reinforcements later. However, that was a matter for later.

Wang Zhi was still thinking that he hoped more of them would come. It would be more reassuring to advance to the late stage of the second rank. Although Lao Hei said that the rank in this world was not high, it was better to be safe. What if he was surrounded by thousands or even tens of thousands of people as soon as he arrived in the central territory of the empire? What would he do if he encountered such a situation?

Just thinking about it was terrifying. Not to mention that he had sneaked in and was discovered by the world consciousness. Even if the world consciousness of a low-rank world couldn't strongly target Wang Zhi, there would still be some targeting. So it was better to be conservative. Wait until more orcs come and then harvest... and fight for the victory of humanity.

Putting the head of the wolf leader into the storage space, Wang Zhi then headed back towards the high wall.

By this time, it was completely dark. The light stones on the high wall that absorbed the light source during the day lit up. Princess Xuelina and Maria were looking out at the dark mountains outside. Maria spoke:

"Your Highness, let's go back. It has been so long. Even if Mr. Wang Zhi is not dead, he still hasn't come back after such a long time."

"If we wait any longer, the secret guards of the prime minister will probably step in."

Xuelina was silent for a while before she spoke:

"Wait for another half an hour. If he still doesn't come back, we'll go back."

.....

I hope Mr. Wang Zhi can return safely, Xuelina silently prayed in her heart.
