Once I was on the other side of the portal, I left that small room and found myself in a large empty room with only doors.
I walked up to the doors without thinking and opened them, behind them was a corridor and a staircase that went up and down.
I decided to go down first…
"Ouch…"-when turning, I accidentally bumped into someone.
It was a short girl, and I managed to catch her so that she wouldn't fall down the stairs.
She was dressed rather simply, with a cape hood that fell off after colliding with me. She had red hair, and her eyes were like violets.
"Sorry."-I quietly told her.
"No, what are you saying, it's my fault for not looking ahead."-the girl said.
"Hmm… are you the new Demon General? I haven't seen you here before."-the girl said.
"I…"
She interrupted.
"Anyway, my name is Mallory Crovett, I am the future wife of the demon queen Velverosa."- the girl told me, holding out her hand.
"My name is Hoshimi Miyabi."- I said, shaking her hand.
"Miyabi… you have a beautiful name. Do you want to walk with me?"- she asked.
"Yeah, go ahead! I have nothing to do anyway."- I decided to agree, since I didn't know anything about this world.
We started climbing the stairs with her, as I learned from her that these stairs were only for the inhabitants of the tower. Yes, we were in something similar to a dungeon, only a tower.
Mallory kept talking about the demon queen and how wonderful she was, even describing their interactions several times, which made me think that Mallory was a masochist, but I don't judge, not at all...
"So this is Velverosa, your future wife?" I asked her.
"Yes, the demon queen, the best! I don't know why, everyone wants her head, but I want her head to stay in place, she's much cuter with her head." - yeah, and she can't survive without her head...
We reached the very last flight of stairs.
"Have you met Melacia yet?"
"Uh... no."
"That you became a demon general and don't know the other demon generals?"
"It's my first day." I lied.
"I see, well, I'll introduce you to her." - she said, opening the door to the room.
"Oh Mallory, my dear, are you going to see the Demon Queen again?" asked the bespectacled woman with a tail instead of legs.
"Did she get my letters as usual?" asked Mallory
"Sorry, but when I tell her that all the letters are from you, she burns them." said the lamia.
"Oh, well, I'd better tell her everything in person." exclaimed the girl.
"Well, well, you'd better introduce me to your friend, as far as I remember, we only allowed you to…" she didn't finish, looking at me more closely
"On the other hand, she's not human, but I don't remember anyone like that in the Demon Army!"
"I…"
"And this is Miyabi, she's the new Demon General!"
"The new Demon General? The Demon Queen didn't say anything about it, that's strange…"
"Well, Miyabi said that it was her first day on the job."
"Oh, I see! Nice to meet you Miyabi, my name is Melacia, Demon General #7. It's been a while since we've had a new face," said the lamia.
"Me too," I replied with a smile.
"Anyway, we don't have time to wait, the Demon Queen is waiting!" exclaimed Mallory, grabbing my hand.
"Good luck to you," said the snake.
Me and Mallory went up another floor, where she immediately rushed to the girl who was standing by the window.
"Demon Queen! Hugs!" Mallory screamed.
But she couldn't hug the girl, as a red pentagram appeared in front of her, blocking Mallory.
"Again, you annoying little human."
It was a girl much taller than Mallory, she had white hair, horns, and a tail most likely of a dragon
"Oh come on, I love you."
"Stop talking nonsense!" she screamed, pushing Mallory away.
"And who is it that you brought with you…" she started to say, but stopped, looking at me.
"Hmm, you are not human. Then tell me why are you with her?" the demon queen asked me.
"I…"
And Mallory interrupted me once again.
"How could you forget your new demon general?"
"HA? A new demon general? As far as I remember, I did not appoint a new demon general."
"Miyabi…"
I sighed and looked at the red-haired girl.
"Yes, I am not a demon general. You just did not let me tell you, and I did not correct you."
"I see, but then who are you…"
"The one who went to travel to another world." I replied.
"Oh, I see… ANOTHER WORLD? Really? Show me!"
"Stupid human, and you believed her right away, what nonsense about another world." the demon queen said mockingly.
"Hmm, maybe she's telling the truth, but for now… Demon Queen, let's go on a date…" she couldn't finish speaking, as a fireball flew at her.
"Eh… is it okay that you killed your wife?" I asked the horned one
"It's okay, she'll be reborn in the church, and she's not my wife!" the queen exclaimed
"Well, that was like an argument…"
"Don't even dare finish it!" the demon queen snapped.
"Okay, no need to get so worked up."
"So you will tell the truth, who you are and where you are from? And…" she fell silent.
"What?" I asked, tilting my head to the side.
"What's wrong with you anyway? I feel a power from you that's similar to mine!"
"Well, maybe? Anyway, my name is Miyabi, and I really am from another world."
"Stop it already…"
"Come with me and see for yourself. The portal is a few floors down."
"Okay, but if this is a trick…"
"Yeah. I'll take the punishment, whatever it is." I said.
The demon queen and I went down and entered the large empty room I came from. Then we went into a smaller room, where there was a portal in the middle.
"Well then." I said, to which she silently walked up and touched the portal, but nothing happened.
"It's weird, it's like there's some kind of barrier around it." The demon queen said.
"Can I have your hand?"
"What? You too?"
"Not like that, just give me your hand." I said, to which she reluctantly put her hand on mine, and I took it.
Holding my hand out to the portal, I immediately found myself on the other side, only the demon queen was with me.
"Well, you see." I said.
She just paused, looking around.
"Is this really another world?" she asked.
"Yes, if you don't believe me, go outside." I said.
"It's not necessary, I'll believe you, and now let's go back." She said, to which I nodded, and we returned to the tower again.
She looked at the portal again, and then at me.
"Why, this portal can only interact with you?"
"I don't know either. I just wanted to explore the ruins of a dead civilization, and I stumbled upon it. That's how I ended up here." - although I'm sure that goddess with wings is to blame for everything.
"Miyabi… Do you want to be a demon general?" - the demon queen asked me.
"Yes, why not." - I answered, although Mallory mistakenly considered me as one, I don't mind officially becoming one.
"Okay, I'll call the rest of the demons and introduce you to them." - she said.
We went up to the floor with her, where in one of the rooms there was a long table, and a large board.
Is this a school?
A few minutes later, other generals began to enter the room.
"Everyone, this is Miyabi, she's the new demon general. Now introduce yourself one by one." - the demon queen said.
The first to go was the lamia I had met.
"You and I have already met, my dear, but I will introduce myself again. My name is Melacia, Demon General No. 7. I hope we will become good friends. Miyabi, tell me, do you like reading?"
"It depends." I replied.
"Well, romance, where there are two girls…"
"YURI? I love yuri, can you let me read it?" I exclaimed.
"Hehe, of course I will let you read it, I need to know the opinion of the new Demon General."
The next to go was a girl with white hair and wolf ears and tail.
"My name is Fenn, Demon General #6. Don't think you can seduce Ms. Melacia with your ears, mine are cuter and softer!" she shouted at me, but nevertheless I saw her tail wagging tirelessly.
"Okay…" I said, not knowing what to answer.
Then a blonde girl with white horns and bat wings, as well as ears like an elf, came.
"My name is Conoles, Demon General #5, nice to meet you." she said.
"Likewise."
"Well then, it's my turn now. I am Faust, Demon General No. 4. Could you lend me your blood for experiments?" - it was a demon general who looked like an elf, well at least because of his ears, he had a strange black mask on that honestly reminded me of Dottore, and he was the same mad scientist
"Eh… no."
"Tch."
After him was a lizard in armor.
"My name is Diaonnos, Demon General No. 3." - he said, to which I simply nodded.
Followed by some gloomy guy that I felt uneasy from his appearance.
"Morik, Demon General #2." He said, but there was a hint of indifference in his voice
"Well, that leaves me alone! I'd like to introduce myself, my name is Berkz, Demon General #1, I hope we get along." He said. Berkz could be described as a walking mountain of muscle. It didn't help that his skin or fur was white. He reminded me of a bull, because of his horns.
"Okay, that's it, now on our agenda… How to conquer the human kingdom!?"
"Conquer? Are humans bad, or why…"
"Humans are terribly petty, nasty, and…" the demon queen screamed.
"But is Mallory like that?"
"Malory is more of an exception to the rule." Melacia said.
"Yeah, the other humans are horrible. They come here all the time, wanting to kill demons and get the head of the demon queen." Fenn added.
"Then why don't you just destroy them?" I asked.
"You're new, you don't know that. But we don't have an army that's ready to wage a full-scale war, let alone wipe out humanity." Berks said.
"Yeah, it doesn't help that humans might have a hero, even if no one has seen him, but that doesn't mean he doesn't exist." Conoles said
"Okay, but what should we do then? We don't have an army, I'm sure we don't have the money to support an army on a military campaign, and besides, a hero might appear, although I'm not sure he'll be a problem at all." I said
"In the past, heroes were strong, but we haven't seen them for a long time." Melacia said.
"Well, anyway. Wouldn't it be easier for us to just sit in the tower and not go anywhere?" I asked.
"That's why we ended up here. Instead of continuing military campaigns, the demon queen decided to sit in the tower and just wait for people to come for her head."
"Not only that, we're developing a secret weapon that can destroy the entire kingdom." the demon queen intervened
"Yes, but this weapon requires a lot of magical energy, it will take us too long to fill it." Diannos said.
"You're wrong about that, lizard, after Mallory arrives at the tower, she leaves behind a significant amount of magical energy that charges our weapons." Faust said
"So you mean to say that we can use that sorceress as a battery?"
"Yes." He replied.
I saw the demon queen sigh.
"Well, well, it's not that bad, this will allow you and Mallory to get closer." Melacia said smiling.
"Stop talking nonsense! What if I and that person…"
Even though she said that, I saw her cheeks blush a little.
"Anyway, that's all. I need to think about it. And Miyabi, you can take that empty floor. It will be your floor." Velverosa said.
"Okay." She replied.
After leaving the room, I returned to my floor, which was now mine, and looked around, as I wanted to understand how to arrange it.
"Are you the new Demon General Miyabi?" I heard a squeaky voice behind me, turning around, there were three goats.
"Yes."
"The Demon Queen sent us to arrange your floor as you want."-
I smiled, already imagining the idea in my head.
"You have a piece of paper, I'll draw what I want from this floor."- I told them.
"Baa," he gave me a piece of paper.
Well, I've always wanted my own dojo.
