Chapter 8 - Chapter 8

"Lylah!" cried the Master Sage.

Time seemed to slow down for the Master Sage, and that day became one of the most terrifying moments of his life, for before his eyes he was about to lose a student. He couldn't look at him directly, but if he closed his eyes, he wouldn't be able to see his disciple for the last time. What a dilemma.

"Wrewak!..." the cockroach monsters screeched as they approached Lylah's body, who tried to escape while waving her wand in all directions, hoping that some magic would appear to repel the monsters.

"Boom!"

Something suddenly shot at Lylah. Master Sage immediately smashed his staff against the ground, sending spikes of earth flying in all directions around him. Unfortunately, it was not uncommon for cockroach monsters and golems to get in the way whenever Master Sage tried to check on his student.

Meanwhile, at Lylah's place, there was only smoke and thick dust covering the area. As the dust began to clear, Master Sage breathed a sigh of relief. In the dust, Rocky was already holding both claws in the giant cockroach monster's mouth with both hands.

"Rocky, are you okay?" asked Lylah with a smile, though there were still a few tears on her face.

Rocky now looked like a hero who had come to save a princess. He looked away for a moment, then punched the giant cockroach in the mouth. Rocky's fist went through the monster's mouth, crushing its head, and then he turned to lead Lylah to safety.

Master Sage smiled with relief as he pulled out a book that suddenly glowed and opened by itself. "You nearly killed my favorite student! Now feel my wrath, you disgusting insect!"

The book unleashed hundreds of magic circles that hovered around him as if ready to launch an extra-large attack. After that, the master wise man waved his staff in all directions, and various types of elemental magic with different shapes appeared, attacking the cockroach monsters with intensity.

Rocky, on the other hand, kept moving while tying Lylah to his back with the cloth he had left on his body. He couldn't stop because the bugs came closer every time he stopped. Meanwhile, Lylah covered her mouth as her head continued to shake.

"Bump! Rocky, can we stop for a second? My stomach... bump!"

Hearing Lylah, Rocky stopped at a thick bush that wasn't targeted by the cockroach monsters. Not wanting to waste any time, he finished tying Lylah to her back. However, instead of tying Lylah in the same direction, Rocky tied her in the opposite direction, so that the two of them were now tied together in opposite directions.

Lylah, who had finished tending to her stomach, looked around. "Hm? Rocky, where is this?"

Rocky tapped Lylah on the shoulder and pointed in a direction. When Lylah looked in that direction, she saw Master Sage in the middle of a crowd of cockroach monsters. Immediately, Lylah's face widened, revealing an expression of great fear.

"No! No! If Master uses that book, he will run out of mana faster than he can kill the bugs! Rocky, we have to help him!" Lylah cried desperately, about to leave.

But then she realized that her body was now bound in the opposite direction of Rocky.

"Rocky! Why are you tying me up like this?"

Rocky thought for a moment and then drew something on the ground. After a while he stood up and turned around to show it to Lylah.

Lylah looked at the drawing and nodded in understanding, "Wow, I didn't know you were that smart! Well, leave it to me!"

If he could sigh, Rocky would have done so already. He was grateful for the speed of his mind, for he had indeed accidentally tied Lylah upside down when his mind had been split between avoiding the bugs.

Back to Master Sage, at the moment he was still dominating the battle with the many dead cockroach monsters lying around. On several occasions, he also helped some golems attack, although sometimes the golems attacked him instead.

Master Sage's body grew weaker and his vision blurred. He stared at the book in his hand, which was still spitting out magic circles one by one, shooting elemental magic at the cockroach monsters around him until his body began to stagger.

"Haaah!... Damn, it takes too much mana! If I knew it would be like this, I would have left some spare mana!"

Master Sage continued to try to kill the cockroach monsters with everything he had.

The magic stones for the reserve mana had been used up by his magic research.

The small monsters were now greatly reduced, but what remained were those that were the size of a cow or even larger. The power needed to kill these insects was certainly much greater, while the mana in Master Sage's body was already running low.

To top it all off, a cockroach monster the size of a cow deflected the attack magic of Master Sage, who was now kneeling limply, and let out a loud screech at him. On the other side, Master Sage's magic shield began to crack and poke holes.

"Haah... at least Lylah is in safe hands," he mused.

Moments later, there was a familiar call, "Master Sage!"

Just then, Master Sage lifted his head to see his student, attached to a golem, moving strangely.

"Lylah? Lylah! What are you doing?"

Lylah didn't hear because she was bound by Rocky and continued to cast explosive magic in all directions at the cockroach monsters.

Meanwhile, Rocky was riding a giant cockroach with chaotic movements. Occasionally, both of them were thrown and carried away by the monsters they were riding. Of course, their movements were followed by hundreds of other cockroach monsters.

Lylah saw Master Sage kneeling on the ground and immediately nudged Rocky with her elbow, "Rocky! Master over there! Get down now!"

"Crek... taktak..." Rocky responded with a scraping and clashing of rocks, indicating that he understood.

However, Rocky let go of his mount while the cockroach monster was in flight, causing them both to fall at twice the speed because Rocky's stone body could not withstand gravity. The fall kept them spinning.

Rocky kept trying to grab some cockroaches to stabilize the position, but the explosions from Lylah's magic, which kept happening whether he was aware of it or not, made them spin even more.

"Huwaaaa... Why do we keep spinning!" Lylah shouted as her face began to change color in panic.

At the last moment, Rocky managed to accidentally grab the leg of one of the monsters, causing it to swing slightly and finally land stably.

Using this momentum, Rocky immediately ran towards Master Sage, but the road was full of obstacles.

Rocky had to do some parkour tricks that caused Lylah to spin back.

"Roc-ky! Why we still spinning?!"

After a few jumps, Rocky smashed the approaching cockroach monster into pieces.

Rocky stood up straight and turned to face Lylah, whose face and head were still spinning.

"Muehehehehe... Rocky, let's do it again, hehehe, oh yeah... Master, this is for you, hehehe," Lylah said excitedly.

Lylah also took out several mana stones from under her robe, even the toys hidden there were thrown away because her head was still spinning.

"You!? I told you to put important items in your storage robe!" shouted Master Sage in annoyance.

"Hehehe, sorry, Master! Rocky, let's do the fun thing again!" said Lylah, who was still unconscious.

"Crack... croak..." Rocky nodded and made the same sound, then ran off to beat up the cow-sized cockroach monster.

"Wiii... let's go faster, hahaha!"

Lylah couldn't stop laughing with excitement, as if she was riding a roller coaster, forgetting for a moment the incident that almost cost her her life.

Meanwhile, the Master Sage, who was holding one of the mana stones and absorbing it, looked at his student with a complicated look. "I don't know whether to be proud or angry with this child," he muttered.
