Carrying the trays of food, which contained mostly what his wife liked, Aston made his way toward the room with a gentle smile on his face.
They reached Atinberg a few hours ago and were relaxing in the inn. They have rented a good room.
Aston has been saving a few coins for this trip for two years now. And finally, they were here.
"The food is here," Aston said as he stepped inside the room and found his wife standing near the window and taking in the sight of the market.
"Oh," Virelle turned around and upon seeing the plates, her delicate brows elevated, "Fish soup…you remembered."
Aston grinned, "How can I not? You nearly made the server cry back then for not providing a good soup." Aston said with a chuckle.
He has worked as her personal guard for two years. During that time, he has seen his wife's different version. The spoiled Princess version shouted at people if things didn't go the way she wanted.
Slowly, her personality changed when she started to spend more time with Aston. And before she knew it, her first friend became her first love, and she ended up marrying him.
"You can now forget about those days." Virelle was flustered, and that could be seen from her red ears.
She really doesn't want to remember those days when she didn't respect anyone whom she deemed beneath her.
Virelle had made sure to teach her children to never be like that.
"It is a part of your past. How can I forget it?" Aston kissed her briefly after he rested the trays on the table.
As he arranged chairs on both sides of the table, he heard her asking, "Dear, do you think we should send our children to the Academy? I mean… The Obsidian Spire."
The reason she highlighted the academy's name is because it is the best academy in the world and comes at rank one. And it was situated near the Capital too.
Naturally, Aston, just like his wife, wanted his children to receive the best education…But, "It's not in our hands whether they will get admitted there or not. It's completely on them."
Zero tuition fees—Obsidian Spire requires no funds from the children for their education or anything. Not only that they provide free lodging and three meals a day.
And with the best teachers from around the world with the best facilities, anyone would want to get enrolled in that academy.
However, the assessment of the student is strict…more like it is tougher than the military.
Only two hundred students are enrolled each year, and every student who graduates from the Academy becomes a wholly new person. It is a place that helps students reach their full potential. Shape them in the best possible way. Help them to realize their strength and trim their weaknesses.
So, once a person gets enrolled in the Obsidian Spire, they are destined to become a prominent part of society in the future.
"Do you think they can?" Virelle asked a bit hesitantly.
Aston relayed what he felt, "I have no doubt that Arthur would get enrolled there. He is a good mage, a great warrior, and in terms of academics, he is superior to even you."
Virelle nodded, "There's no doubt about it."
Aston sighed, "I just fear for Kevin….I have seen how excited he always appears about the academy, I just wish he doesn't get discouraged if he doesn't get enrolled."
Virelle shook her head, "You are worrying about nothing. My children are quite capable. I am sure both of them would get their names registered in that school."
…
Just as his mother had hoped, Kevin was heading toward a place where he would come to understand more about himself and gain lessons that would serve him well in the long run.
His short feet were moving rapidly toward his target, which was a small town situated in the north of his hometown.
It was about an hour's journey at his full speed.
For the past three years, all Kevin has done is plan these things. He has measured the distance using maps and everything he requires to reach there and save her.
It was purely a coincidence that his parents decided to go on a vacation around this time, or he was planning to just run away from his home one night and rescue her.
'I hope Arthur doesn't wake up…' He has left a note for Arthur just in case he wakes up at some point. Also, he has locked the door and the house…well, it won't matter if Arthur really feels like getting out of the house.
'System, show me my stats…' Maybe he was nervous and wanted to divert his mind, he asked the system.

He had received the blessing of the Goddess of Darkness…which was completely unexpected. She is a strong deity, and the spells he could unlock with her Tier 3 blessing would be unimaginably strong.
However, when he went to the church for awakening, the Priest said that he had only awakened Tier 1 blessing…for some reason.
'Well, that's better, given that having a low level of blessing would allow me to remain out of the limelight.'
The Goddess of Darkness is a mysterious deity who blesses very few people, to the point that it's very rare. Many consider it a bad omen that the Goddess of Death blesses someone, but Kevin doesn't believe in such things.
He was thankful that he received a blessing. Without any blessing, he would have been quite helpless.
'Shit!' Suddenly, Kevin's feet came to a skidding halt when his eyes caught a burning sun on the horizon.
However, neither was it morning nor was there any sun.
What caught Kevin's attention was a burning town.
'It has already started!'
