Chapter 24 - Departure

One of the main heroines, a girl, ten years old right now, would play a very crucial role in the future.

She would be one of the love interests of the Protagonist, who possesses the attribute of Flames and Earth—which is very rare.

What captured readers' attention was her back story, someone who has suffered a lot to reach where she stands near the end of the story.

Someone who gets captured from her home at the age of ten and gets sold to the slave market.

Until the age of fourteen, she remained in the cage of the slave trader since no one bought her for four years. But then, one day, the prince of the nation randomly finds her when the girl is being sold in public.

The Prince is no one other than the protagonist of this story—Aiden Veildone.

He rescues the girl and tries to heal her by treating her delicately and providing her with the love and warmth she deserves.

However, some scars never fade…that's why Kevin aims to save the girl before she falls into the pit of hell and gets traumatized for life.

He knows that he might be affecting the plot and character growth, but despite knowing that a young girl was going to get tortured and traumatized yet not helping…yeah, it's not something his parents would be proud of.

That's why, today, he was going to the town where the girl lives and before she could be taken away by the slave trader, he would rescue her.

He has been training rigorously for the past three years for this day. Yes, there was the future in his mind too, but at the moment, all he could focus on was the little girl who was going to get her innocence stolen in a few days.

"Kevin…are you fine, son?" Hearing his father's words, Kevin broke out of his daze as he hurriedly turned toward his parents and nodded,

"Yes, I am completely fine!" He munched on a big piece of meat to show that he was normal.

Virelle rubbed his back and said, "Are you worried about being left alone?" She glanced at her husband, unsure if they should really go when their children were so young.

However, "You are going on a trip together for the first time after marriage. Please don't drop the plan, Mom." Kevin told her with a pleading look.

Not only because he wanted to save that heroine but also because Kevin wanted to give his parents some alone time together, which urged him to persuade them.

Aston also asserted, "They are mature enough to take care of themselves. And we will have to let them go at some point, so this will be like preparing them."

At the age of fifteen, Kevin would be leaving for the Academy so it was natural that he would be living alone.

Virelle couldn't deny that so she softly nodded, "That's true." Turning toward him, she added, "Take care of your brother okay?"

Kevin nodded diligently.

What the older heir of the house didn't notice was the observing eyes of his younger brother, who had been looking at him since the beginning.

With a soft sigh, Arthur muttered under his breath, 'He is going to do something foolish..'

------**------

Not so long after the breakfast, they prepared to leave.

They were going to the hot spring situated in Atinberg which would allow them to relax and have some quality time together.

As Kevin mentioned, after marriage they were not able to make time for themselves.

Aston was busy with his job, and a year later, Virelle got pregnant with Kevin.

But now, their children are grown up enough to take care of themselves. And Aston's job no longer requires him to report to the office daily.

After the worms were removed and with the help of the Viscount the town was now progressing toward a better condition. There was some talk about building concrete routes to connect with the big towns as well.

So yes, the situation in the town was much better compared to three years ago.

Aston carried the bags and asked Kevin, "Want to help me clean the carriage, son?"

"Why always me?" Kevin groaned but showed no reluctance in following his father.

Aston chuckled, "It's because you do dusting better than me. If you can't find any suitable job, come work for me as a cleaner."

Once the duo was left alone, Virelle sat down on the chair and raised her hand toward Arthur.

The black-haired youth approached his mother, having his hands held by her as she softly said, "Take care of your brother. You know he can be a little enthusiastic at times and can go to some extreme lengths to solve a problem."

"You don't think I can make the same mistake, too?" Arthur questioned with his brows raised and a soft smile on his face.

Virelle just smiled at him helplessly. And that smile gave him the answer.

Virelle and Aston believed that Arthur was much more mature than Kevin. If a disaster befalls, the only person who could make a rational decision is Arthur.

They have seen it time after time. When Aston went to hunt with Arthur. Or when a few goons tried to harass Virelle when she was shopping with her younger son.

The only reason they give the job of taking care of the house to Kevin is so he doesn't get discouraged.

Arthur softly sighed, "I will take care of him. We both will be waiting for you back home safely, so stop worrying and enjoy the trip."

Virelle smiled fondly before she gave a kiss on his cheek.

She soon got up and walked out of the house.

The two children waved their hands as the carriage rolled away.

Faintly, Arthur whispered, 'Tinker, you know what you have to do, right?'

{Yes, sir! I will be following them and report back if something happens!}

Now that he has ensured his parents' safety…'I just need to keep observing my elder brother.'
