Chapter 26 - Chapter: 26, End of the Forgotten Shore

Chapter: 26, End of the Forgotten Shore

After some hours, the sleeper army finally reached the towering spire.

They were nervous to see the silent scene with no nightmare creatures in sight. The ground was covered in burned ash, reminding Sunny of the familiar scene he saw before.

Everyone still walked inside with a grim expression. The place was quiet, too quiet even. Inside the vast hall, the broken pieces of the starlight legion statues scattered around.

Mark on the other hand, was facing the Terror. His blade was easily cutting its limbs as it attacked him. After some more rounds of blows, the Terror was completely subdued. Its body was cut to the point it couldn't even move.

It convulsed in pain, retching as it struggled. Mark was ready to finish her off when he heard a grotesque sound, saying something in the modern language of the waking world.

"H-HOW,.. I_I_IS.. som-e-on-e li-k y-oU hE-rE??!?"

Mark looked at the Terror, shock written clearly in his eyes. The terror was conscious and somehow, it could speak the modern language of the waking world. Mark was completely stunned and stuttered as he let out

"How are you talking?"

As the creature tried to mumble something more, its body went motionless and it died and the spell whispered...

[You have killed a Corrupted Terror: The Nameless Sun]

[You have received a Memory…]

Mark stood there, completely stunned. What was the nameless sun talking about? He thought. What was it that made a dying creature desperate to talk?

When he was thinking about it deeply, a sudden voice broke his trail of thoughts.

"Honey!~~~" Effie shouted and hugged him from behind. Then he looked back and saw the sleepers of the dark city.

All of them were shocked to see the terror lying on the ground, completely motionless. They couldn't believe that the Corrupted Terror, who was so strong that kept all of the sleepers trapped here for more than a decade, was now dead. And it was killed by a person of the same rank as them.

Without wasting any time, Mark used a name to make caster, who was among the crowd, completely immobile. He couldn't move as if a huge mountain was crushing him with just enough weight to stop him from moving.

Nephis turned to the sleepers and pointed towards the shimmering gate.

"Everyone, leave through the gate as quickly as possible, the gate will collapse in some moments." As soon as they heard her, all the sleepers scrambled to their feet's and quickly entered the gate.

After all of the people left, the tower started to shake as they all felt. Mark looked at caster, who was still stuck where he stood. He smiled at him which didn't really reach his eyes as he also left through the shimmering gate with all the girls.

Caster just stood as he saw the gate close right in front of him. The spire collapsed and the debris crashed right above caster's head.

In the void between Dream and Reality, Mark woke up with the sound of the Spell.

[Wake up… King of Void]

After some more time, he heard the spell whisper.

[The Second Seal is Broken…]

[Awakening Dormant Powers…]

Sharp pain swept through his body as the warm feeling perfected his physique more. The wave of mysterious energy cleansed his soul as his soul finally became awakened.

Soon, the mysterious energy vanished. He heard the spell's whisper in his ear.

[Awakening Aspect Ability…]

[…Aspect Ability Acquired.]

[Aspect Ability: Authority.]

Mark then looked at his panel.

*

Mark was happy to the point of dancing, but he didn't. He was finally awakened, but what he was most happy about was the strength he currently possesses.

His physical strength and mental capabilities were now stronger than any supreme, almost reaching sacred. But obviously, becoming a sacred isn't fully focused on self-fighting capabilities.

As you reach the peak of the path of ascension, you never fight alone. Your overall strength doesn't rely on yourself.

His strength was only something that could overpower a supreme but was still insignificant in front of a Sacred, a Semi-Spirit.

Then… the world spun.

**

The community in NQSC was silent in the depth of the night, and the only source of light was the light illuminating the insides of some of the houses.

At the dining table, Rain was in a daze when a voice suddenly pulled her out of it. In front of her, her biological Mother, Elara, was seated as she took a bite out of the food with a gloomy look.

"Are you okay?" she asked.

Rain looked at her and gave a fake smile and replied "Y-Yes, I am okay, Mom."

Elara got a small smile on her face, "I'm glad that you can be so composed." Then she muttered under her breath "Only if Abel was here…"

The room got gloomy again, making both Mathew and Maria, Rain's adoptive parents, feel uncomfortable.

Elara was living with them for the past six months. Sunny has reassured her that she would be back from the dream realm at most in a year or before that.

She was here to get both her and Rain's relation back to what it was, as it was affected since Abel, Rain and Sunny's Biological Father, had died in that nightmare gate incident. Currently, Jet is the only one who supports the family after Abel's death.

They quickly finished the dinner in silence and Mathew stopped them from leaving as he had something to announce.

"You see…" He began his voice hesitantly.

"We're expecting a child."

Elara was shocked and she hesitated, saying "Oh, I see, I'll go back to Jet's place tomorrow. I don't want to be a nuisance."

Mathew stopped her as he explained "No, that's not what I mean. You see, this is our First Child, So we'd like it if you could accompany and if possible, help her through the months, since we need to save up for the extra costs that will be needed in raising this child."
