Chapter 22 - Chspter Twenty Two-Flight to Spain

"It's expected. Our marriage went public." Lexis spoke in matter-of-fact.

"Don't forget, he also plans to use Sabrina as a bait, since it would be hard for him to attack you directly."

"Tighten the security more, especially around Sabrina and be keeping an extra eye on her."

Lexis got up and faced the roller blind as he lit a cigarette, pondering.

Was his elder brother so eager and pained to use a woman—his woman as a bait?

He wouldn't lose Sabrina the way he lost Claire. Although from his findings, it seems Claire had disappeared at her own accord, he still couldn't believe Maris didn't have a hand in it.

Emily was having her siesta when she heard a beep from her phone.

Sitting up on the rocking chair, she picked her phone from the Nightstand to see the notification.

It was an image sent by an unknown number.

Clicking on it with curiosity, she was supposed to see Lexis, being inexplicably close to a very young pretty woman. She suspected her to be Sabrina.

Few seconds later, she received a text from the same number,

'Enjoy your days in Canada while your man gets entangled in the arms of another woman.'

Emily was so furious she threw her phone angrily on the floor, catching Daniel, her elder brother by suprise.

"Are you out of your mind?." He questioned her.

"Daniel, I need to go to Spain."

Daniel dropped the game in his hands, "Don't tell me this is about Lexis."

"I have to go."

"Emily, open your head and force it into your head that Lexis doesn't like you. Stop being crazy about him and move on."

"How do you expect me to do that?," Emily barked, "I was seeing Claire as a threat then, but all of a sudden, she disappeared and I was finally sure I would make Lexis fall in love with me. Lexis might still have Claire in his heart, but atleast she is out of the picture. But now, one good-for-nothing lowly woman wants to take her place. That's absolutely not possible!."

"Then suit yourself," Daniel got up, "I'm done taking sense into you." He walked away.

He didn't see his sister's feelings for Lexis as love—it was obsession.

If it was genuine, she wouldn't always try to separate Claire and Lexis. Now that Claire was gone, she has targeted the woman that was currently involved with Lexis.

Not being dispirited at all by her brother's reaction, Emily went ahead to dial Freya's number.

"Hey sister-in-law." Came Freya's excited voice. Emily switched her tone to that of sadness immediately.

"I don't think you should call me that anymore. Your brother is already married to another woman."

"What are you saying?." Freya questioned, her face suddenly turned serious.

"The truth."

"No you are not. I don't know the woman big brother has married, I don't care if she's the prettiest woman in Spain. All I know is that you're Lexis' future wife, and nothing's going to change that. Sooner or later, that woman will be kicked out of the Woodsman's family."

Emily's lips curled up into a smile. It seemed her pitiful facade had really bonded Freya and her well.

"Don't say that, Freya."

"Emily, I won't let the way Claire snatched big brother from you to happen again. In two days time, which will be on Saturday , mom would be organising a family feast and Lexis with that damned woman will come. I'd advise you to book a flight and come."

"That would be bad." She said, even though she was dancing happily in her mind.

"Bad you say? You're Lexis' fiancée for crying out loud!."

"I know but—."

"No buts, you're coming and that's final." Freay hung up.

Emily grinned triumphantly. It was good that she has used her pretentious nature to bewitch Freya and her mother, Bridget.

Although that Oldhag—Bridget wasn't really someone she could hope on. She was just a sassy woman who could easily accept any tolerant woman without minding the class or status.

But Freya? That girl was gold. As she has already placed her alone as her sister-in-law, no one could easily remove her from that position.

With that, Emily could boast that her position in the Woodsman's family was secured, as Freya was the last and favourite child.

Including Lexis.

Still smiling, she dialed her agent's number, "Lucy, book a flight ticket for me to Spain in less than 24 hours asap."

Sabrina sat on the bench as she licked her ice cream, staring into space and thinking about what Bridget said.

Was it wise of her to keep the marriage going?

What would be the reaction of Lexis' mother when she would eventually set her eyes on her, the woman that had married her son without the blessings of the parents?

She didn't know. But she was very sure of one thing; the woman could have labelled her as a gold digger to someone else.

A cunning, irresponsible woman.

Bringing out her phone from her pocket, she found out it was switched off and switched it on. As it came back to life, she saw multiple missed calls from Lexis, but didn't return it.

Instead, she callled Windy. It's been long they hung out.

"Wassup bae," Windy picked, "how are you?."

"I'm fine. What about you?."

"Same. Thought you have forgotten about me."

Sabrina laughed, "Nah, how could I?. Do you mind if we go out for shopping now?."

"Of course not. Thought you'd never ask girl. You have lots to tell me."

"Alright. Good. Let's meet at our usual cafe."

"Yeah babe."

.

.

Cafe…..

"So why the sudden party? Did you miss me that much?." Windy asked as she ate her pizza.

"It's been long we hang out together. Wanted us to spend sometime." Sabrina said, taking a sip of her fruit drink.

"About that, I have always wanted to know about your wellbeing, especially after the issue about Mr Raymond. But it's not something you can talk or say online. And most importantly, how the hell did you get involved with Lexis Woodsman?." Windy asked further.
