Chapter 9 - Dalumen

The two of one were having their usual banter that they had come to find endearing.

Arthur:"I'm actually insane."

Although the topics they talked about mostly stray from the norm.

Yeah no sh*t Sherlock.

Arthur:"I'm extremely low on blood, have a fresh wound on my abdomen for which the stitches it had were torn almost right after they were made,my body is aching heavily, I'm too exhausted to even use mana well, I don't have enough skill and experience to even use it to heal myself but here I am carrying a girl, who I poisoned by the way. "

He took a moment to gather his breath, heaving slightly.

Arthur:"And the worst part is that the reason I'm like this is BECAUSE OF SAID GIRL!!!! Saving her could literally get me killed and I'm here risking my life and going through horrendous amounts of pain for?... My flipin stupid ego and something about being strong! And because I didn't like being forced tokill someone, apparently!."

If his hands were free from making sure she stayed on his back then he would have instantly face-palmed at his sheer audacity.

So instead he just hit his head on the trunk of a nearby tree, maybe more times then he should have.

Just wait until we get to Selera, your head is in a weird place right now.

Arthur:"....Being somewhat sane is weird?"

Hell yeah baby!

Arthur:"....."

He glanced at Argus, contemplating if he should find a way to hit him which Argus noticed immediately.

And as if to prove his superiority he shouted something un-hearable before a searing pain echoed in Arthur's head.

The pain receded a moment later and instead the sound of laughter permeated around inside his headspace.

Arthur groaned audibly while adjusting the position of the assassin girl.

Arthur:"Well..... At least I'm becoming....braver I guess? Besides, I only got a year left, what can go wro—"

If you finish that sentence then I will actually make you brain dead.

Arthur suddenly hissed,it was not at Argus but more so at himself for being stupid.

Arthur:"Damn it! I almost jinxed myself! "

You better thank me for saving your ass.

Arthur:"Yeah thanks."

After their last words a momentary silence reigned their journey.

And finally after walking for what felt like weeks they had finally reached their destination.

Dalumen,the ray catcher.

Although the cave of his(it was not his but he decided to think so,it was his crib)was not too far away from dalumen, him being extremely slow and the other un-expected situations that came up had slowed him down.

Therefore,by the time they arrived at dalumen the sun was already setting.

And so they got the lucky chance of seeing the famous sunset of dalumen, something that charmed so many people that it was considered hypnotic.

The dust in the sky had become more purified and changed resulting in the sunset to paint the sky in a more light and yellowish colour instead of orange.

The mountains and plateaus were toned to a shade of gold reminiscent of their previous colours yet contrasting enough to paint a different picture.

The sky was free of any obtrusions as the sky dimmed from the east golden yellow to the western indigo blue. Some selective stars and constellations piercing through the atmosphere with their bright twinkling.

Although the village was more under-developed than he had imagined the bright yellow of the sky Alined harmoniously with the village surroundings and the folk that live in it.

The buildings there were made of mana re-inforced concrete therefore were pristine despite being built over the course of a hundred years, the concrete was painted with alluring shades of white that seemed to brighten the village further more, despite there being other colours mixed within.

The village it self wasn't too big,yet was big enough for the normal human eye to be unable to particularly see the end of.

Many children and adults were lined atop their houses to watch the undisturbed sunset that they alone were privy to.Some walked nonchalantly as if already used to the dazzling image, yet they still threw admiring glances once in a while.

And Arthur, still carrying the assassin stood in awe, eyes wide and his breath taken.

Damn.....

Feels very homey for some reason doesn't it?

...it does.

Soon enough he entered the village, ungaurded by walls.

Unfortunately for the scare and concern of the populace filling it as they worriedly checked them to see if everything was Okay.

Of course they are gonna fuss all over you! You both are covered-no! You guys look like you took a bath inside a pool of blood!

Not too far off from the truth huh?

After asuring the villagers that they wouldn't die, yet.Arthur with the help of a kind villager reached Selera's home.

The house was a Humble two story building painted in a greyish white colour, mostly white with black lines separating the floors, although it did have it's own quirk.

The house was surrounded by many sorts of herbs and plants, vines were even crawling upwards at a side, reaching the window on the second floor and going beyond until it coiled through and round the railings of the roof.

It built a beautiful imagery with several white flowers blooming on them.

The white lilac vines? There are grapes too.

She's a doctor alright.

???:"Alright fella. "

A gruff voice sounded out beside Arthur gaining his attention.

He turned with a grateful smile and bowed his head with slight difficulty.

Arthur:"Thank you very much uncle rall. "

The man upon hearing this got flustered and concerned before hastely lifting Arthur up from his bow.

The man had dark and greying green hair, his eyelids drooped over his dull brown eyes making them barely visible.

Although his face constitution was seemingly old his body itself was slightly toned, it was obvious the man had some battle experience but had gotten rusty.

He blatantly showed his mark with out a care as well, it was a picture of a man bandaging animals and men alongside each other.

Rall:"Hold on young man! You are injured and the wound is fresh and untreated, you don't need to bow! "

Ouch...

He prided himself in being able to do first aid pretty well so the remark he made did sting a little.

Just because I acted like a total reckless fool and had gotten almost all of my stitches removed doesn't mean I'm bad damn it!

But couldn't refute the claim either, even inside his head.

From the mark itself it was evident that the Man before him was an experienced healer and considering how human biology had changed due to mana.

This man having grey hair could might as well mean that he is atleast 600-700 years old.

That made this man respect worthy and even someone to fear,it did not matter that he has a healing type mark either.

As the saying goes, respect the old man who works in a job where people die young.

Thinking so he gave a sheepish smile.

And suddenly the man spoke once more.

Rall:"Truly to say, seeing you siblings care for each other makes my heart melt."

Arthur:"Pardon?"

After Arthur asked, sering his confused tone Rall became a bit flustered before apologising.

Rall:"Ah... Is she not your sister then? I'm sorry for assuming."

Arthur shook his head before talking in a care free tone.

Arthur:"No no no it's alright."

He took a glance to his back.

Arthur:".....I guess we do look similar."

They would look similar, they are from the same blood line after all.

For a moment the thought of her Connection to them stirred in his mind before he quelled it and began walking towards the door.

Arthur:"....either way, thank you uncle Rall. "

Rall:"You calling me uncle stirs my heart young man, don't forget that you can ask me for anything!"

Saying so Rall slowly departed, his back slowly mingling with small crowd before disappearing.

Arthur:"What a nice old man.....wait..... "

He suddenly fell silent for a moment, podering a question that turned make him mad at himself.

Arthur:"Couldn't I have just asked Rall right at the start!?"

Come on,you know why you couldn't.Think for a minute.

Abiding by Argus's advice Arthur thought for half a second before he exclaimed with an "Ah.. ".

Arthur:"He probably couldn't do it anyway,if he could then he wouldn't have brought us here."

Yep

It became clear why Selera was special here, although her mark may have been only described,it was clear that nobody else here has a healing mark that is above solidified.

Healing marks are quite rare afterall.

Thought Arthur before....

Arthur:"Wait a minute! My hands are not free to knock!"

His voice raised in volume as she scowled.

Having no other choice he was about raise his leg bash the door with it, despite holding on until now, the pain and weardom was getting to him.

But just then a melodious voice of a women rose a harsh tone, although it felt more akin to a masking of amusement instead.

???:"Hey! Don't bash my door in just because your girlfriend is unconscious you rascal!"

The way she spoke and the words that came to Arthur's ears were harsh, but there was an underlying tone of worry in her voice.

It was clear that she had enough experience to stay calm and enjoy medical situations while also worrying about a patient.

Arthur who had his foot raised placed it back on the ground once more before turning around, wishing to see her once more.

Second time meeting her, literally the next day.
