Chapter 28: The Mall PT3
Samuel took a few seconds to process what he had just heard. "So to break it down this world of yours, this apocalypse zone. Is not only on the verge of destruction. But it has already been destroyed 4 times. Each of those times you survivors and the saviors that come to save this world try your best but fail each time. Those saviors who died here are permanently gone.
While you guys stay dead only until the next group of saviors come which resets this world to a time before its destruction." Samuel said as he paced around the tent. Levi, Susan and the silent guy in the tent only nodded their heads. Seeing their confirmation made Samuel want to cry. "What exactly makes saving this world so hard? I understand I'm weak but you can't tell me that you guys and the previous saviors weren't strong." Samuel questioned.
"The thing that makes it so difficult to save this world. Is the existence of the Corrupted lords." Levi said. Samuel instantly recognized that name. "The second objective of my mission in this world is to kill these Corrupted lords. What exactly are they?" Samuel asked. "To put it simply they are the most powerful monsters on the planet. Each of them is different and they have unique abilities. In all the 4 times we've lived through this apocalypse.
We've only ever beaten 2 of them. The weakest of these lords are two of them at the 8th stage of the Walker legend. Then come the last 2 lords. One is at the 9th stage of the Walker legend while the other is at the first stage of the Voyager legend." Levi said with a serious expression. Samuel's face darkened. He expected this apocalypse zone to be difficult. But a Voyager-ranked creature was just too much.
From the information, he and the members of Radiance had gathered. A Voyager-ranked creature would have enough power to destroy multiple city blocks with ease. Some have even been said to be capable of destroying entire cities. "That's insanity, what can we do against something at the Voyager legend?" Samuel said with genuine fear.
"At least you aren't a delusion one," said the big guy standing next to Levi. He had been silent the whole time but decided to speak up. "The name's Cole. I didn't mean to insult you. We have had a couple of saviors before you underestimate the power of a Voyager legend. They all somehow believed they were better than everyone else and that they would be the ones to kill that monster. So to see you know your limitations is…a pleasant surprise to say the least. Or that could be because of how weak you are" Cole said calmly.
"Thanks… I guess" Samuel said not knowing how to feel about Cole's words. "Don't think too much about it. You may be more useful than you think. After all, you are not a native of Nexus" Susan said. Hearing her words the expressions of Levi and Cole changed slightly. "So I'm guessing that since you guys brought me here you must have some plans right?" Samuel asked. He didn't know why their looks towards him changed after Susan told them he wasn't a native. So he just decided to ignore it. Levi nodded and said "Yes we have plans. This world will end in 1 month so we don't have much time to waste. Our plans are based on the missions you saviors received from the will of Nexus." Levi explained most of what they planned to do.
To summarise it all. Firstly they already found the source of corruption and how to get to it. Their main objective is to destroy it. The only problem is the Corrupted lords are protecting it. The second part of their plan included creating teams that would face these lords and kill them. While also creating other teams that will clear the path for the first teams to reach the lords with minimal casualties and damage.
But before they can do that they have to increase their legend ranks to at least Walker stage 3. For that to happen. All survivors scattered around the country will gather at 3 large cities called Blue Bell, Lansford and Dallas. That's right this plan only included people from this country. The reason behind that was simple. Every other nation in the world has already been wiped out. This country that Samuel is currently in holds the last remaining humans on this Earth. That population has been estimated to be around 3 to 4 million people.
The survivors will be scattered around these 3 cities and prepare for a final stand. While the extermination teams had off to kill the corrupted lords. Everyone needs to try their best to increase their legend to at least Walker stage 1 when they arrive at the cities. Their next plan was to teach the saviors how to wield Aurora negative. That is what the black energy they control is called. Teaching the saviors how to wield it will increase their chances of beating the Corrupted lords. Because with it they won't get infected easily and can resist the powers of these lords.
The rest of their plans would be explained once they reach the closest city to them. Which is Blue Bell. Samuel couldn't help but be impressed. It only made sense that they would be so prepared after doing this 4 times. Their plans will help in completing most of the mission objectives. This would make it much easier for the saviors to clear this apocalypse zone. Samuel decided to check his mission details.
[Mission: Save this dying world.
Description: You have found yourself on a parallel earth that has been wrecked by an apocalyptic disaster. All creatures in this world were corrupted by an unknown energy causing most to lose their minds and become monsters that only seek to devour other living creatures. As a hero from another world, it is only right that you save this world.
Objectives: 1. Find the source of corruption and find a way to stop it (Progress: 0%)
2. Defeat the corrupted lords (Progress:0%)
3. Save as many people as possible. Score will depend on the percentage of the population that remains at the end of the mission (Population: 100%)
4. Learn the power system of this world and the truth behind the apocalypse. (Progress: 5%)

Objectives 3 and 4 will be easily done if they follow the survivor's plans. Because most of the survivors are already protecting themselves. This will make it easier to focus on defeating the Corrupted lords. Objective 4 is already showing progress in its completion percentage. Because of the information Samuel was given by Levi. This made it more obvious that these survivors were being honest.
The sooner they kill them the more lives will be saved. Objective 1 will be 50% complete just by knowing the location of the source of corruption while getting to it and destroying it would be the hard part. Objective 2 will be the most difficult one. That's where the saviors and survivors will have to use their own strength to clear it.
The 5th hidden objective was not even worth thinking about. Cause no one knew what it was. After their discussion Samuel realised something. Although these people wanted to save themselves from this apocalypse. They didn't trust the capabilities of the saviors to get the job done alone. So a thought came to mind. "You guys have most of this figured out. How would a stage one mortal legend like me help you out." Samuel asked.
Everyone else in the room smiled. "it's because you are not just a regular outsider. You are someone who comes from a dimension outside of Nexus. Which means you should have a karna." Susan said this time. "You Karna users have a great advantage when it comes to us natives of Nexus. You guys not only have the base strengths of your race and legend rank. But you can also boost your abilities to a higher degree when you activate your Karna. This means you can fight legends higher than yourselves. We have to reach at least Walker stage 3 to fight the Corrupted lords. You only need to be a stage 1 walker to be useful." Levi said with a smile.
Understanding dawned on Samuel as he figured out why even with his weak strength they were still involving him in their plans. To give an example of what they mean would something like this. If you have two humans, one from Nexus and the other from the outer universe. If both are at the same legend rank and stage. They would be relative to each other in power. But when the human from the outer universe activates their Karna. Depending on the boost their Karna gives them. They will most of the time be stronger than the human from Nexus.
That's why even though Samuel is only at the first stage of the mortal legend he can still fight with monsters that have a higher stage than him. He is a 1 star Karna user but even his weak Karna boosts his stats to that of a 2nd stage monster. "So when are you guys leaving this mall?" Samuel asked.
"We're leaving in 3 days. We don't have much time to waste here. But the number of Aurora mutants has kept us busy. Their large numbers are also a good thing for us. With more monsters to kill. The faster we can get stronger. Since it's still beneficial towards our growth we have decided to stay here for a while." Levi said. "And when do we get started with the extermination?" Samuel asked.
"Susan give the boy a look around the place. Introduce him to our man and let him get used to them. After an hour we'll meet at the exit to kill some mutants " Levi said towards both Susan and Samuel. Susan nodded and led Samuel out of the tent. After they left Cole asked Levi a question "Do you think we can do it this time?
Leave this hell hole of a world we live in." Levi stayed silent for a few seconds before he replied "The first and last time we ever succeeded in killing two corrupted lords was when we had 10 Karna users. Even if this boy won't be of much help. There have to be others that came with him. Hopefully, they are stronger. With their help we might be able to end this cycle of death and suffering we go through."
