Chapter 3 - He ran in

with a woman following closely behind him.

"I got the doctor, Alfred!" Albert shouted.

"Thank god!" Alfred sighed.

The Doctor, was a lady with dark skin, curly hair tied back by a red scarf, and she wore white coloured scrubs and a white coat. She immediately rushed to the panicking man, and examined the situation.

"Tsk. He's having a panic attack. Why do I get the problematic ones?" She gave a deep sigh, "Talk to me! Do you hear me? Can you understand what I'm saying?"

The panicking man groaned and cried.

"Please… st-top."

"Stop what?"

"Ever-ryth-ing." He was gasping for air through his words.

She sighed again, louder this time. "Alright, you!" She pointed to Albert, "Get me some water. And you!" She pointed to Alfred," Stay quiet."

"Listen here. Just follow my words, and you will be fine. Do. You. Un-der-stand?"

"Y-y-yes." His head trembled as he nodded.

"Good, do you see how many fingers I am holding?" She placed her hand in front of him and raised 2 fingers.

"F-four?"

"Uhh… not quite, look again, focus on my hand, darling."

Everything was fuzzy, he barely could decipher left from right. Yet her soft, soothing voice was helping him. Despite never meeting her before, he felt as if she was the most trusting person, in the current moment. He narrowed his eyes, focused on her instead of the pain, and counted the fingers.

"T-t-two."

"Good, now listen, I want you to hold my hand and breathe slowly. Do you hear me? Breathe. Slowly."

He clutched her hand and took a slow choppy inhale, followed by a broken exhale. He repeated. The Doctor wiped his tears off with a small towel she had in her breast pocket. He began calming down. Albert walked in with waterskin, and immediately gave it to The Doctor. She held it for the man, while he slowly drank little sips.

"This guy's like a child. Don't you think Alfred?"

"Yeah, it's hard to imagine what the man has been through."

"Would both of you shut up? I would kick you out of this room if I could."

"Tsk. Whatever you say Angel. Want me to carry Alfred out?" Albert snickered.

The Doctor rolled her eyes.

"Now you darling." She put the waterskin away. "My name is, and yes I know this sounds a bit weird but I don't really care these days, Angel. Do you have a name?"

"I-… I d-don't know…"

"Oh you must be pretty tired right? Why don't you lay back on the bed and rest up, darling?" She gave him a warm smile.

"Ah-" Just a moment ago everything was so… I… and she… is she really an angel? Her hand was so soft… and her voice… her smile too. Wait, she asked me something. I feel… so tired. Some rest would be nice "… yeah."

She helped him get back on the bed and covered him with a blanket. Next to him on a small wooden table she left the waterskin. He immediately fell back to sleep.

"You two, be quiet, please."

Albert and Alfred looked at each other.

"She clearly has favourites."

"Uh huh."
