Chapter 9 - Chapter 9: The Hidden Rich Second Generation

After leaving home.

Xiao Fei went straight to the underground garage, started up the Land Rover Defender he received as a system reward, and headed back to school.

Although the district is very close to school,

for the sake of convenience in moving things, Xiao Fei still opted to drive.

However, just as he was about to enter the school, he was stopped by the guard at the entrance.

Xiao Fei rolled down the window and showed his student ID to the guard.

Only then did the guard let him pass, though he couldn't help grumbling inwardly.

Wondering which rich kid it was this time who drove such a luxury car to campus.

"Holy crap!"

"Isn't that Brother Xiao?"

Just as Xiao Fei rolled up his window and prepared to drive inside,

a shocked shout suddenly rang out not far away.

When Xiao Fei turned his head to look, he found that it was his three dormmates.

"Yo, my dear sons."

"Surprised to see your dad, huh?"

The chubby Zhang Bo saw Xiao Fei sitting in the Land Rover Defender and was so stunned his jaw almost hit the ground.

"Brother Xiao, is this your car?"

Wu Zitao walked right up, stroking the rugged body of the Defender, and said excitedly, "If I'm not mistaken, this should be a Land Rover Defender, right?"

"Oh my God, this is a luxury car worth over a million!"

In the dorm, Wu Zitao had the most knowledge about cars, fluent in all kinds of models,

but he could only look and dream; owning one was far beyond his reach.

The last roommate, the Northeasterner Liu Chao, was just walking around the car, inspecting it before preparing to say something when:

the guard walked over, raising his voice, "Move the car quickly, don't block the entrance!"

"Got it."

"Hurry up and get in, I'll drive you back to the dorm."

Xiao Fei first responded to the guard politely and then waved to his three "dear sons."

The three of them didn't hesitate and jumped into the car immediately.

As soon as they got inside, the three guys acted like Grandma Liu entering the Grand View Garden, touching everything, their eyes shining with wonder, even drooling.

Xiao Fei drove steadily toward the dorm.

"Taizi, you said Brother Xiao's car is worth a million?"

"Can you believe it?"

Our Brother Xiao turned out to be a hidden rich kid all along!"

During the ride, Zhang Bo, sitting in the front passenger seat, couldn't help joking.

Wu Zitao and Liu Chao also chimed in, looking over at Xiao Fei with curious faces.

"Rich kid my ass."

Xiao Fei rolled his eyes at the three knuckleheads and said helplessly, "If I were a rich kid, I would've been driving a fancy car from the day I entered college. Would I need to wait until now?"

"Are you saying… you bought this car yourself?"

Zhang Bo couldn't help swallowing hard.

"Damn it!"

"I never imagined writing web novels could be such a profitable gig!"

Faced with Zhang Bo's disbelief, Xiao Fei couldn't be bothered to explain further and casually changed the topic, "What were you guys doing just now?"

"Gaming at the internet café."

"Playing at the dorm just doesn't have the same vibe."

Saying this, Wu Zitao suddenly sighed, then went on, "The three of us losers can only relieve our boredom with video games. Unlike you, Brother Xiao, who's already earning your own money and driving luxury cars…"

"This car is literally my dream ride!"

Looking at the Land Rover Defender, Wu Zitao was filled with envy.

"Oh right, I need to tell you guys something."

Xiao Fei suddenly spoke, "I rented an apartment off-campus, and I'm moving out today."

"You're moving out?"

Zhang Bo froze for a moment, then nodded.

After all, Xiao Fei was now making a lot of money; improving his living conditions was only logical.

The three of them certainly couldn't stop him, right?

"Alright."

"Once we're back at the dorm, we'll help you pack your stuff."

Zhang Bo looked a little downcast and then asked, "Where's your apartment, anyway?"

"Not far from the school."

"I still need to attend classes, don't I?"

"I'll invite you over sometime when I'm free."

But as for now, that was clearly not an option.

Xiao Fei planned to wait until Tang Yuxin fully accepted him before making the matter public.

Otherwise, it might cause trouble for Tang Yuxin.

Considering their respective roles — one being the student and the other the teacher — it was a delicate situation.

Before long,

the Land Rover Defender arrived at the dorm building.

After parking the car, the four of them quickly ran back to the dorm to start packing.

Xiao Fei didn't have much stuff. One suitcase was enough to hold everything, with his laptop tucked into a bag, effectively done.

Dragging his suitcase behind him, Xiao Fei left the dorm.

Watching Xiao Fei's departing figure, Zhang Bo couldn't help but sigh, "Suddenly, gaming doesn't seem all that fun anymore."

"Yeah, we're juniors now, we should really start thinking about life after graduation.

"Actually… I'm planning to apply for graduate school."

"Old Liu, you're going to take the graduate exams?"

"Makes sense, you know, because nowadays, undergrad degrees are practically worthless."

Even though they were students at Shanghai Jiao Tong University,

in an age when degrees were increasingly devalued, landing a decent job still wasn't easy.

Seeing Xiao Fei suddenly rise and even purchase a Land Rover Defender,

the three of them were inspired by the sight. Motivated by Xiao Fei's example, they vowed to work hard and strive to escape poverty as soon as possible.

...

Meanwhile:

After loading his luggage into the car, Xiao Fei didn't head straight home.

Instead, he went to a baby products store to buy a few strollers for the kids and three child safety seats.

Even though the Land Rover Defender was spacious enough,

for the kids' safety, additional safety seats were clearly necessary.

Parking the car on the roadside, Xiao Fei walked directly into the store.

"Welcome, sir."

"Is there anything I can assist you with?"

Just as Xiao Fei entered the store, a sweet-looking female salesperson eagerly approached him.

Upon seeing Xiao Fei, her eyes immediately lit up.

Although Xiao Fei's outfit was simple, his handsome features and refined aura made him stand out.

He was like a modern princely figure!

Even more attractive than most male celebrities on TV.

The saleswoman began silently daydreaming: how wonderful it would be to date someone like him!

"Do you sell strollers here?"

Xiao Fei asked directly.

"Yes!"

"Sir, are you buying for your own children?"

Xiao Fei nodded.

At this, the saleswoman's face instantly fell.

Why did all the high-quality, handsome men commit to early marriages and have kids so soon?

Though she felt a pang of disappointment,

she still enthusiastically guided Xiao Fei to the stroller section, saying, "Sir, these are all our newest models. Feel free to pick whichever you like."

Looking at the strollers in front of him, Xiao Fei frowned.

With three kids at home, buying three individual strollers would inevitably make outings quite cumbersome.

"Actually, I have triplets."

"Do you have strollers with multiple seats?"

"Triplets?"

The saleswoman stared at Xiao Fei in astonishment.

She hadn't imagined that this handsome man,

aside from being an absolute catch, was also so "capable" in starting a family — managing to have triplets in one go!

How impressive!

She quickly regained composure and said, "I'm sorry, sir. The best we can offer are double strollers; after all, twins are already quite rare… We don't have triple strollers in stock…"

"Alright, then I'll take one double stroller and one single stroller."

He paused and then added, "Also, I need three child safety seats — the kind that can be installed in cars."

The saleswoman nodded and smiled sweetly, "Sure thing, sir. Please wait a moment; I'll get the items for you right away!"

Before long, the saleswoman had everything Xiao Fei requested packed and ready.

After paying,

Xiao Fei carried several large boxes out of the baby store.

He put the stroller boxes in the trunk and installed the safety seats directly in the car.

After that, Xiao Fei drove back to the Rose Garden District.
