Chapter 60 - Taken

Daily Meme

 -----

The Nomu lay still for half a second.

Then its neck twisted unnaturally, and it started getting back up.

"Annoying piece of shit," I muttered.

The comm crackled. "Ryuu, status?" Aizawa.

"Fighting a chainsaw-wielding dumbass," I said, dodging another swipe. "Could use a hand."

"I'm en route."

The Nomu lunged again. I twisted away, bringing my bat up in an upward swing. The hit sent it skidding back, but it dug its claws into the dirt, stopping itself.

It was adapting.

[Endless Momentum MAX. Movement Speed Increased.]

I moved.

The Nomu swung its chainsaw, but I wasn't there. I blurred past, striking its knee again. This time, the force buckled the joint. It collapsed slightly, but caught itself with one arm and slashed at me.

I ducked, then countered with a brutal downward swing to its skull.

Another shockwave.

The Nomu staggered, its head dented inward, but regeneration kicked in. The wound sealed almost instantly. It lunged again, chainsaw screaming.

I caught movement from the side. Aizawa.

His scarf snapped forward, wrapping around the Nomu's arms. His Quirk flickered to life, canceling its regeneration.

"Now!" he snapped.

I grinned, planting my feet. Every ounce of speed I had built up channeled into my grip.

The fist hummed with power. The air crackled, the ground under me cracking apart.

The Nomu thrashed against Aizawa's grip, but it couldn't move fast enough.

"Galaxy Impact!"

The punch connected. The force detonated on impact, a massive shockwave ripping through the forest. The Nomu's body folded inward, then launched.

It flew.

Clearing trees, disappearing into the night.

Silence settled over the battlefield.

Aizawa exhaled. "Is it dead?"

I moved toward where he flew. "Of course not, you lost sight of him, so whatever quirk regenerated him should be in full use." I was about to charge when Mina's voice hit my head like a damn alarm.

"Ryuu, they are here to kidnap Izuku!"

'What the fuck?' I cursed. 'I am coming!'

I shot off, burning through the forest. My boots slammed against dirt, trees whipping past me in a blur.

Voice flared again.

"Midoriya, move!" That was Aizawa.

A crash. Something heavy hitting the ground.

I sped up. Bakugo's marker flickered near Izuku's, another one approaching fast—too fast. I ground my teeth. I had seen this before. They were closing in.

[Target: Twice(Clone)

Quirk: Double – Can clone people with precise physical and mental accuracy.

Loud as Hell – Talks to himself, a lot.

Walking Identity Crisis – Probably argues with his own reflection.

[SYSTEM NOTE]: Clone army potential, but too busy having a group therapy session in his own skull.

[Target: Mr. Compress(Clone)

Quirk: Compress – Can shrink people and objects into marbles.

Sleight of Hand – Magician-tier deception skills.

Thinks He's Fancy – Talks like he's performing in a shitty theater play.

[SYSTEM NOTE]: Warning—he might monologue you into a coma before the marble hits.

I skidded into the clearing.

Izuku was mid-dodge, barely avoiding Twice, who swung wildly. Mr. Compress stood further back, rolling a marble between his fingers. Bakugo was closer, fists crackling, but his stance was defensive. He was watching for something.

"Shitbag and Discount Houdini," I muttered.

Twice turned. "Oh hey, new guy! No, wait—he's been here the whole time! Shut up, you don't know that!"

"Shut the fuck up," I said, already moving. "Izuku move!"

Izuku pulled Bakugo, two of them running.

Mr. Compress flicked his hand. I saw it—a distraction. Twice lunged, trying to grab Izuku's arm. I slammed my bat into his wrist.

"It hurts! No, it doesn't!" He yelped, recoiling. Bakugo launched forward, his explosion sending Twice skidding.

"You dick! My bones aren't meant to bend that way!" Twice yelled. "Hit me more!"

"Neither is your spine," I shot back, swinging again.

He ducked—surprising. But not fast enough. My follow-up hit cracked against his ribs, launching him to the end of the forest. Twice spun mid-air before landing like a ragdoll.

Mr. Compress sighed. "Children these days—no sense of drama."

I ignored him. 'Izuku, status?'

Izuku's nervous stutter came from the mental link. "They're after me and Kacchan. How the fuck they appeared here so fast?"

"Yeah, no shit," Bakugo snapped. "The fuck are you doing there?"

I followed their markers, dodging through burning trees, leaving clones behind. No time for distractions.

"Two here were clones. Keep running, I am coming."

The second I landed, I saw the problem.

The whole damn squad was there. Twice, Toga, Dabi, Mr. Compress, Spinner, Magne, and a goddamn Nomu. They had Bakugo and Izuku boxed in, shifting around them. The two were back to back, circling, trying to find a way out.

No way they were getting out clean.

Dabi glanced up first, his lips curving into a smirk. "Well, well. Looks like the guest of honor made it."

I ignored him, stepping forward, bat resting against my shoulder. "What's the occasion? League finally decided to throw a party? About damn time. You guys are usually about as fun as a funeral."

Toga giggled. "Ooooh, you're always so mean! You don't even say hi! I should stab you for that."

"Try it, I'll pop your head like a zit."

"Aw, you flirt."

Magne adjusted her grip on her weapon. "Toga-chan, focus."

Izuku kept his stance tight, but I could see the gears turning in his head. He knew something was off. Twice was practically vibrating, rolling his shoulders like he was waiting for a cue.

I exhaled. "So, we done with the weird staring contest, or what? 'Cause I got places to be, and you all smell like the inside of a sewer."

Spinner flexed his grip on his sword. "Still running that mouth, huh? Stain was right. You heroes—"

I held up a hand. "Stop. No one cares."

His eye twitched. "You—"

Dabi cut in. "Listen, jackass, we're not here for you to put on a comedy special." His gaze flicked to Izuku. "We came to pick up the kid."

Bakugo scoffed. "Like hell you are."

I tilted my head. "So you're gonna let me walk out?"

Magne chuckled. "Cute. You think you're leaving."

I saw it just as it happened—Toga tensed, Twice twitched, and Mr. Compress flicked his wrist.

A marble flew. Straight for Izuku.

I moved.

My bat swung, knocking it off course just before it could touch him. The marble hit a tree instead, expanding back into a full-sized rock.

Mr. Compress clicked his tongue. "Damn. Almost."

Bakugo blasted forward. "Fucking die already!"

Dabi's flames flared up, meeting the explosion head-on. The force sent both of them sliding back, the heat licking at the trees.

Izuku shifted, trying to take advantage of the chaos, but Magne's quirk yanked him off balance. I shot forward, yanking him back before he could be pulled straight into her grip.

"Nice try," I muttered.

Magne scowled. "You're a pain in the ass."

"And you're built like a refrigerator, but we can't all be winners."

Toga lunged, knife flashing. I leaned back, her blade skimming past my throat. She grinned. "You smell good~"

"Yeah, it's called deodorant. Try it sometime."

I kicked her off, sending her tumbling, but she rolled back to her feet, still giggling.

My stomach dropped.

"Move!" I barked.

The air behind us twisted. Kurogiri's portal opened.

Bakugo blasted forward, aiming straight for Dabi, but Toga cut in, knife flashing. He barely twisted in time, her blade skimming past his arm before he knocked her back with an explosion. "Fucking hell!"

Izuku was already moving, shoving me toward the trees. "Go!"

"No." I swung my bat at Magne, forcing her back. "They're not here for you."

Izuku's jaw clenched. He knew.

Dabi exhaled, flames flickering in his palm. "See? Told you. Here for the golden boy."

Kurogiri's warp gate pulsed behind them. The bastards weren't here for a fight. They were here to take.

Magne swung, her quirk yanking me off balance. Before I could plant my feet, Twice tackled me. The impact knocked the wind out of my chest. I twisted, elbowing him in the jaw, but more hands grabbed at me.

"Get off me!" I slammed my bat into Twice's ribs, knocking him back.

Bakugo moved in, explosion primed. "Ryuu, back the hell up!"

Kurogiri's mist surged, cutting between us.

Izuku reached out. "No—"

Aizawa's connection went silent.

"Midoriya, report."

Nothing.

Aizawa clenches his jaw.

"... Shit."

The warp pulled. The ground blurred.

Then, silence.
