Chapter 52 - Jealous

Derrick's POV

After a cold shower to ease the stubborn ache between my legs, I dressed swiftly in a dark tailored suit and made my way toward the council hall. My expression was blank, but inside, irritation bubbled like an active volcano. I hated being interrupted—especially when I was that close to getting what I wanted.

The heavy double doors to the hall stood open, the room already buzzing with low murmurs. As I stepped inside, the conversations died instantly. All eyes turned to me, the weight of their stares pressing down like a physical thing. I didn't flinch. I never flinched.

At the far end of the room, seated smugly between two gammas, was Anita.

I met her gaze head-on. She smiled sweetly—too sweetly, like poisoned honey—and dipped her head in respect. My jaw clenched. I already know what the hell you're planning, Anita. My wolf growled low in agreement.

Taking my seat at the head of the long table, I didn't bother with pleasantries. "Let's begin."
