Chapter 56 - 56.To Luminaria. And the Disc

Islydra guided Musling deep into the forest to a hidden library, a sanctuary preserved by the high elves for millennia. Within its ancient walls lay scrolls and artifacts chronicling the wisdom and technologies of their ancestors. With reverent care, Islydra retrieved an aged manuscript and presented it to Musling.

"These are the records left by our forebears," she spoke softly. "Contained within is the ancient knowledge and techniques once employed by the high elves. Perhaps, through these writings, the secrets of your disc may be unveiled."

Musling delved into the manuscripts, each page revealing insights into magical artifacts and devices of old. One illustration arrested his attention—a disc strikingly similar to the one he possessed.

"This is..." he murmured in astonishment.

Beneath the illustration was inscribed: "The Disc of Knowledge." The text elucidated that, in eras predating the high elves, such discs were utilized to store knowledge, accessible only through specific apparatuses. Realization dawned upon Musling; the artifact he carried was no mere ornament but a repository of ancient wisdom.

He promptly approached Islydra. "Your Majesty, this manuscript holds the clue I sought. This disc isn't merely decorative; it's a vessel of knowledge. On Earth, we refer to such artifacts as 'discs.' I've come to understand that this is akin to those."

Islydra nodded thoughtfully. "Then, we must find a means to decipher the knowledge within. Regrettably, even among us high elves, the apparatus required to interpret such a disc has been lost to time."

Musling pondered. "In that case... we must seek out a place where such devices might still exist. Perhaps ancient ruins or magical sites could hold the key to unlocking this disc's secrets."

"You are correct," Islydra affirmed. "However, locating such equipment on this continent will be arduous. Even in the depths of the Celesta continent, such devices are scarce. It may be time for you to return to Luminaria."

Acknowledging her counsel, Musling resolved to journey back to the Luminaria Kingdom, recognizing that the answers he sought might lie there.

"Your Majesty, I shall return to Luminaria to uncover the secrets of this disc," he declared. "With the knowledge gained here, I am confident that I can find the answers we seek."

Islydra offered her support. "Your determination is commendable, Musling. May our wisdom aid you on your journey. I hope you find the answers you seek in Luminaria."

As preparations were made for his departure, Islydra issued a caution. "Musling, reports have indicated anomalies with the waypoint in our forest. The magic here is shifting, rendering the waypoint unstable. Using it now could be perilous."

Musling considered this. "Then... I shall head to Altekna. I have allies there, including King Alexander, who can ensure a safe passage."

"Altekna?" Islydra inquired, unfamiliar with the name.

"It's a human kingdom established during the time the high elves were in their slumber," Musling explained. "It's understandable that you might not have heard of it."

Islydra acknowledged his plan and instructed her attendants to assist in preparing the journey to Altekna. "The path leads through the forest, but our elves will guide and protect you."

Princess Lydia of the Blood Elves, upon hearing of Musling's decision, found herself at a crossroads. As a formidable mage, she could accompany him, yet she also recognized the importance of mending the rift between the high elves and blood elves.

Approaching Musling, she asked, "Should I accompany you to Altekna, or remain here to strengthen the ties between our peoples?"

Musling responded thoughtfully. "Lydia, your choice is pivotal. Staying to foster relations between the elves could be invaluable. However, your presence on this journey would also be a great asset. The decision rests with you."

After contemplation, Lydia decided. "I will remain here to fulfill my duties to the blood elves and work towards unity with the high elves. But should you need me, call upon me, and I will come."

"Thank you for your decision, Lydia," Musling said. "We will uncover the disc's secrets and confront any threats to our world."

Lisa and Aria, upon hearing Musling's plans, exchanged determined glances. "Musling, we must accompany you," Lisa asserted. "We've fought together before, and we will do so again."

"Indeed," Aria agreed. "Together, we can unlock the disc's secrets and overcome any challenges."

"Thank you both," Musling replied. "This journey holds great significance for us all. Let's proceed to Luminaria and unveil the disc's mysteries."

Guided by the high elves, Musling departed the sacred forest, carrying the ancient disc and the wisdom imparted by Islydra. Lisa and Aria accompanied him, while Lydia remained behind, her thoughts with them.

Upon reaching the borders of the Altekna Kingdom, they discovered a waypoint surrounded by ancient stone pillars, exuding potent magical energy.

An Altekna official greeted them. "Sir Musling, this waypoint will transport you safely to Luminaria. However, remain vigilant. Others aware of the disc's significance may attempt to intercept you."

"Understood," Musling affirmed. "Ensuring the disc's safe arrival in Luminaria is paramount."

Stepping onto the waypoint, the ancient magic activated, enveloping them in light. As the space around them shimmered, a sudden disturbance occurred. The light flickered, and an ominous presence loomed.

"Something's amiss!" Lisa warned, adopting a defensive stance. "A corrupt force is attempting to breach our path

Episode: No Time for Rest

No sooner had Merslin and his companions arrived in Luminaria than they made their way to the Tower of Mages, seeking Elena and Serena. With little time to spare in unlocking the secrets of the disk, ensuring the two women's safety was of the utmost priority.

As they neared the tower, Lisa sensed something unusual. Guards, dressed in the colors of the royal palace, surrounded the area. Their movements were too deliberate, too watchful—far from routine patrols.

"Hey, Merslin… don't you think something's off?" Lisa said in a low voice.

Merslin nodded as he scanned the surroundings. "Yeah. Something might've happened to Elena."

"I'm worried," Aria added quietly. "What could've gone wrong?"

Unbeknownst to them, eyes were already watching. Hidden in the shadows were agents dispatched by nobles and mages who didn't quite trust Elena and Serena. Merslin's group had caught on to their presence, but they feigned ignorance and continued into the tower as planned.

"I just hope Elena and Serena are alright," Lisa muttered. "But why such heavy surveillance?"

"Some within the kingdom clearly don't trust them," Merslin replied. "And now they know we're here, too."

"Then we need to confirm their safety immediately," said Aria. "Let's find them."

Inside the tower, they found Elena and Serena engaged in a serious discussion with the mages, but otherwise unharmed. A wave of relief washed over the group, though Merslin stayed on guard.

Elena noticed them first and smiled. "Merslin, Lisa, Aria. You made it back safely."

Serena gave a nod. "We've been in meetings with the mages. Sorry if we caused you worry."

"What's going on here?" Merslin asked. "There are people monitoring this place."

Elena's smile faded slightly. "Lately, some nobles and mages have grown uneasy with our work. We suspect they've posted surveillance to watch us, though they haven't acted directly—yet."

Lisa frowned, eyes sharp. "Most wouldn't notice, but we saw them. If they move, they could strike fast."

Merslin's gaze grew firm. "They won't just sit and watch. Elena, Serena—we need to secure your safety and prepare for whatever might come."

"I agree," said Aria. "As long as we're here, they'll hesitate—but we still need to be ready."

"They're watching every step we take," Serena warned. "And they'll try to undermine us however they can."

"Then maybe we make the first move," Lisa said, resolute. "Let's take control of the situation."

Merslin nodded, turning to his team. "There's no time to rest. We need to uncover who these watchers are and what their intentions may be. Let's reinforce our defenses and make sure they never get the upper hand."

Elena and Serena agreed. With the magic barrier around the tower strengthened, the group turned the tide of surveillance into a counter-strategy. The mystery of the disk still loomed large, but they would no longer be slowed by those who doubted them.
