Wandering Island.
At the island's center lay the ruins of an ancient city. In the heart of those ruins was a mural.
The mural depicted three Digimon: Onismon in the center, AncientGarurumon on the left, and AncientGreymon on the right.
However, the lower half of the mural was shattered — broken by MaomaoMon.
This was intentional. By destroying that part of the mural, MaomaoMon ensured that the island's Digimon could not see the ancient truth. This made it easier for him to sow discord and ignite conflict between humanoid and beast-type Digimon.
"Rooster talisman!"
Moss used levitation to make the shattered mural fragments float into the air.
Upon inspection, she found MaomaoMon had only shattered the mural but hadn't scattered the pieces.
"That guy was really careless. Details like these can make or break a plan."
She began carefully placing the fragments back onto the wall. Each shard had a magnetic property that allowed it to lock in place as long as there wasn't a heavy impact.
"You're amazing, Angewomon!" Kari Kamiya's eyes sparkled — her admiration for Moss growing stronger, and her desire for Moss to be her Digimon partner deepened.
—But no.
She immediately realized that wasn't right.
She already had a partner Digimon. To keep hoping Moss would be her partner felt like cheating. Her real partner would be heartbroken.
Kari thought, I hope my partner is as strong as Angewomon (Moss).
That was a hope, not a betrayal.
Come on, partner I've yet to meet — I believe in you!
Onismon, watching as the mural was restored, remarked, "AncientGreymon and AncientGarurumon left their power here — originally meant to strike me down once and for all. Ha! Bet they never thought I'd end up like this."
Revived… only to be immediately redeemed and turned peaceful — who could've guessed?
Buzz! Buzz!
As the mural became whole again, it glowed. Two massive figures appeared — one red with wings, one white with dual blades.
They were phantoms: AncientGreymon and AncientGarurumon.
"Just one attack's worth of power, huh…"
Moss lifted her hand, activating her soul reception spell to absorb the two phantoms. She confirmed — indeed, only one powerful strike's worth of energy.
"Too bad. With just that much, I can't fully receive them."
Just like with the "Thunder Dragon Slayer" magic from before — she could either store it or break it down for its elemental genes.
AncientGreymon and AncientGarurumon were the progenitors of dragon- and beast-type Digimon respectively. Absorbing their data could potentially expand her own evolution possibilities.
Still, Moss chose to store the energy for now.
After all, she could absorb it anytime. Storing it might prove more useful later.
Then a thought struck her. She sent a telepathic message to Lucy: "Hey Lucy, do you think we can learn how to store our powers elsewhere — like how those two did?"
Angewomon Lucy responded, "We probably could… but do we really need to?"
Moss said, "Well, you know there's another type of soul reception magic."
She was referring to the version used by Vulcan of the Snowy Mountains, which acted almost like a parasitic spell — letting one's spirit attach to a human host to survive.
Moss had an idea: What if we could give our reception form to another Digimon — or even a human?
Take LovelyAngemon, for instance — Moss had already reached 100% with her. She didn't gain much new from it, just a few skills — no major boost to strength.
Her real strength came from Dragon Ball Ki, followed by DigiSoul and talisman power. The Digimon powers mostly gave her extra abilities — divine power, ultimate charm, dimensional gates, etc.
LovelyAngemon's combat gifts leaned more toward martial arts — not very useful to her now.
But if she could transfer that form to another Digimon or human, it would instantly create a Mega-level fighter.
Just like in Adventure 02 with Azulongmon, or in Tamers with Zhuqiaomon — gods that granted Digimon ultimate evolution.
Truly, a divine blessing.
Moss said, "Divine blessings are expressions of divine compassion. Maybe this will increase the odds of evolving into HolyAngewomon."
It wouldn't boost her strength, but she wanted to collect all the evolution paths. It was becoming a compulsion.
Currently, LovelyAngemon was complete. Only HolyAngewomon and Lilithmon remained.
She had to complete both.
The former likely needed divine compassion, and the latter… perhaps the tyrannical will of a Demon Lord.
If divine compassion was represented by granting power, then what about demon lord tyranny?
Moss began to muse: "Maybe… Demon Lord tyranny is like forcibly bestowing power. Like turning every Digimon into LadyDevimon clones."
As the Demon Lord of lust, Lilithmon's dream of "transforming the world into a LadyDevimon harem" seemed fitting.
My great LadyDevimon harem!
Moss licked her lips as she imagined it.
"Th-that's terrifying!" Lucy gasped in horror.
Moss smiled. "That's why she's a Demon Lord! But compared to those who want to destroy the world, I'm quite merciful."
Compared to world-ending Demon Lords, turning everyone into a LadyDevimon was… almost benevolent!
Following this strange logic, Lucy reluctantly accepted the harem plan. "...We'd need a lot of knowledge and experimentation."
Moss only needed to dream it up — Lucy had to think about the logistics.
First, they'd need a theoretical foundation — the knowledge to do it.
"And a way to reverse it," Lucy added firmly.
She didn't want a world stuck as LadyDevimon forever.
Turning everyone into Angewomon? Maybe acceptable.
LadyDevimon? Absolutely not.
So while researching "bestowing," they'd also need to master retraction — to undo it when needed.
"Knowledge, huh… I know the perfect place."
HolyAngewomon's castle!
Moss remembered it was filled with books — possibly even records of such powers.
The HolyAngewomon of this world — the Frontier Digital World — was probably the most mystical one of all.
If she could learn those mystical powers — like crafting Digivices by hand — she'd be a demigod of the Digital World!
With that, Moss thought, I could even ask HolyAngewomon directly. She should still be alive at this time, right?
In Frontier, HolyAngewomon was initially imprisoned in Cherubimon's castle. Later, she sacrificed herself to help the Chosen Children recover their D-Tectors and reach higher evolution, then reincarnated into a Digi-Egg.
At this point in the timeline, she should still be alive.
Moss returned to the present and told Onismon, "Take the island to the rose-colored star. I want to find HolyAngewomon."
Onismon replied, "HolyAngewomon? She's the manager of this era? How could she let the world fall into this state? Such poor leadership! This world needs a new manager!"
He puffed out his chest.
A new manager — who else but me?
—Even with a conscience, some things don't change.
Or perhaps his conscience, combined with his arrogance, made him think, If she can't do it, I will!
Moss said, "It's complicated. It also involves Lucemon."
"L-Lucemon?!" Onismon flinched.
If it were just HolyAngewomon, he'd think he could replace her.
But Lucemon? Even he wouldn't dare.
He wasn't afraid to challenge strong foes, but Lucemon was on another level entirely.
"Lucemon is sealed away and won't be getting out anytime soon," Moss added.
"In this era, the Digital World is managed by the Three Great Angels — Seraphimon, HolyAngewomon, and Cherubimon. But due to certain events, only Cherubimon remains."
Onismon breathed a sigh of relief.
Just the Three Great Angels? Nothing to worry about.
And only Cherubimon left?
"Cherubimon doesn't deserve to be a manager," Onismon scoffed, piloting the island across the Digital World's skies.
Before long, they spotted the rose-colored star.
"So that's the place…"
…
Meanwhile, beneath the rose-colored star, inside Cherubimon's Castle—
A towering rabbit-like Digimon stood: Cherubimon, one of the Three Great Angels and the only active manager left in this Digital World.
"Royal Knights! You dare invade my domain?!"
Cherubimon glared furiously at the two figures before him:
Crusadermon and Dynasmon!
Crusadermon held a multicolored data sphere, smiling. "This is half the Digital World's data, huh? You've kept it from Lord Lucemon all this time. Planning betrayal?"
Cherubimon narrowed his eyes. Betrayal? I betrayed Lucemon back in ancient times. What makes you think this is new?
"Put down the data sphere," he said coldly.
Tension filled the air.
"Sure," Crusadermon said unexpectedly.
But instead of gently placing it down, he hurled the sphere into a deep, dark chasm.
"No!"
Cherubimon's eyes went wide. He lunged to stop it.
That chasm led to the deepest pits beneath the Digital World — Lucemon's seal!
Even if Cherubimon had turned dark, he didn't want Lucemon escaping. As a former subordinate, he knew how cruel Lucemon truly was.
If Lucemon regained power and broke the seal, the world would be far worse than it already was.
Whoosh!
Without a word, Dynasmon blocked Cherubimon's path.
It's over!
The data sphere plummeted into the depths.
"You damn—!"
Cherubimon, livid, unleashed a furious punch.
Dynasmon met it with a palm strike.
BOOM!
Two Mega-level Digimon clashed — and the world trembled.
