Chapter 273 - Chapter 274: Dragon Hunter George

Chapter 274: Dragon Hunter George

He had always looked down on the dragons of the Harry Potter world, believing that the dragons in this world were too unintelligent and too small in size.

Compared to the dragons in the Fairy Tail world, they were practically no different from winged lizards.

However, ever since he fused with the Dragon Crystal forged from the magic dragon, his perspective had changed.

Why bother with all that—any enhancement, however slight, was still an enhancement.

Though the dragons in this world were of poor quality, they were still dragons after all. As the saying goes, three cobblers together equal one Zhuge Liang. Fusing Dragon Crystals made from ten different types of dragons and combining their respective advantages—

It would certainly lead to enhanced physical constitution and increased power in flame attacks.

Moreover, it could also compensate for some of the flaws of the magic dragon.

The first magic dragon created by Morgoth was indeed powerful, but it wasn't without shortcomings. Compared to later magic dragons, the first-generation progenitor dragon had no wings—meaning it couldn't fly.

So even if his Animagus transformation succeeded later and he truly became a magic dragon, it would still be a wingless one.

Although he could use magic to conjure pure white wings for himself, having angelic white wings growing on the back of a golden magic dragon just looked too out of place.

But if he could fuse the strengths of ten fire dragons from this world, then what he transformed into might not be just a magic dragon like Glauron, but a new dragon that combined the genes of Glauron and the ten fire dragons.

This way, he wouldn't need to worry about being suppressed by Morgoth after transforming into a magic dragon in the future.

Magic dragons were created by Morgoth—if he transformed into a magic dragon to attack Morgoth, he would likely be suppressed. But the new dragon wouldn't be a magic dragon anymore, so the possibility of suppression would be greatly reduced.

Of course, the best scenario would be if, before his Animagus transformation succeeded, he could obtain a Dragon Crystal from the Fairy Tail world. Then the dragon he transformed into would be the most powerful among all the dragon races in these worlds.

By the time he returned from Hagrid's hut, night had already fallen. After having breakfast in the Great Hall, he returned to the Slytherin dormitory.

However, when he passed through the common room, he noticed that the young wizards were unusually excited today.

After asking around, he learned that a new announcement had been posted on the notice board: on the eve of Halloween at the end of October, students in third year and above would be allowed to visit Hogsmeade on Saturday.

If Hogwarts was a school of magic, then Hogsmeade was a magical village.

Hogsmeade was also the only village in all of Britain composed entirely of wizards, with no Muggles. Other wizarding villages were mixed with Muggles.

Back in 1612, it had even served as the headquarters for the goblin rebellion.

The village was home to all sorts of magical shops and wizard pubs. Its prosperity was second only to Diagon Alley, but only students in third year and above, and with a signed permission slip from a parent or guardian, were allowed to go.

George, however, wasn't bound by that restriction. Dumbledore had specially approved him to come and go from the castle freely.

So when the weekend arrived, George greeted Dumbledore and then spread his wings and flew out of the castle.

During this time, a few Dementors tried to stop him, but as soon as they saw the holy light radiating from his body, they were frightened and scattered in all directions.

Though the weekend was only two days long, he had a Time-Turner, effectively giving him four days. Since Animagus transformation took nearly two months—maybe even more—he definitely had enough time to collect all ten types of Dragon Crystals using these extended weekends.

There was one thing he had miscalculated regarding the Animagus transformation.

Originally, he thought that after holding a Mandrake in his mouth for a whole month, even without a thunderstorm, he could simply use magic to create one.

But after asking Dumbledore, the latter told him that such cheating wouldn't work.

Because other wizards had tried the same trick using weather spells, and all of them had failed.

The Animagus transformation involved ritual magic that resonated with the rules of nature. It belonged to the category of ancient magic, which was time-consuming, exhausting, and couldn't be modified. The only way was to follow the steps honestly and meticulously.

This was also why it had fallen out of use in the wizarding world today. Like other forms of ancient magic, it was just too troublesome.

Fortunately, compared to other countries, it rained more in Britain, so the chances of encountering a thunderstorm were relatively higher. Basically, there shouldn't be too big a problem.

Once he flew beyond the boundaries of Hogwarts Castle and was no longer affected by the anti-Apparition magic, George immediately Disapparated on the spot.

An hour later, George arrived in the skies above the Hebrides off the western coast of Scotland.

The Hebridean Black Dragon was the closest fire dragon to him, so it was naturally the first fire dragon he planned to hunt.

"A large-scale Muggle-Repelling Charm… that must be it!"

Circling above the Hebrides, he quickly sensed that a certain small island had been placed under a wide-range Muggle-Repelling Charm.

Nowadays, any place where fire dragons were active would surely have wizards stationed to guard it, to prevent dragons from hurting people or being discovered by Muggles. A Muggle-Repelling Charm was always in place.

According to Hagrid, the Hebridean Black Dragons had been guarded by the MacFusty clan for centuries.

Using the Disillusionment Charm to turn invisible, George quickly descended and broke into the island shrouded by the Muggle-Repelling Charm, where he saw several black dragons flying to and fro.

The Hebridean Black Dragon had black, rough scales and a ridge of shallow but razor-sharp spines down its back.

Its tail ended in a pointed arrowhead, its wings were bat-like, and it had a pair of bright purple eyes. Its body could grow up to nine meters long.

Nine meters? Well, George's size after gigantification reached thirty meters now.

"Engorgio!"

Still under the cover of invisibility, George transformed into a thirty-meter giant without delay and quickly flew over an adult black dragon that was tearing into a wild bison, grabbing it by the neck.

"Mirror Dimension!"

He pointed toward a nearby lake, dragging the dragon's neck forcibly as he plunged into the opposite mirror world.

Inside the mirror world, George smashed the dragon's head open with three punches. Then, on the ground, he skillfully carved a magic array for forging the Dragon Crystal and began the refinement process.

Back in the real world, a guard wizard who had heard the black dragon's dying cries Apparated to the scene but couldn't find the dragon and scratched his head in confusion.

But the wizard didn't dwell on it for long and quickly Apparated away.

As long as no Muggles stumbled in by accident and the black dragon hadn't flown off the island to harm people, they usually wouldn't interfere with the dragons' internal affairs—even if a few died from fighting, it was considered normal.

They weren't like the Romanian wizards who specialized in dragon research. Their main job was simply guarding the black dragons.

It was like how the Romanian wizards were scientists, while they were merely sentries.
