Upon hearing this, Nathan's expression immediately froze.
"What did you say? You refuse it?" His face darkened slowly. "Why reject it? Explain yourself."
The gentle aura he had initially exuded shifted, quickly turning into something oppressive, making the air around them tense.
Sharon felt the weight of his presence but gritted her teeth, trying to stay composed.
"I rejected it because I don't want to take on responsibilities I've never had to bear before. It would be inconvenient and strip me of my freedom. I don't want that," she said, speaking plainly.
She had to admit that there was a certain loneliness created by her father, the queen, the concubines, and her siblings. But at the same time, she relished the freedom she had, free from the palace's strict rules, which she found suffocating.
She also understood that her father's offer was driven solely by her magical attribute, not by any real affection for her.
