"Young Masters, you have 20 minutes before Madam calls you for dinner."
Clack—!
Wooden swords clashed against each other in a fierce confrontation as the two boys jumped away from each other.
"Y'know, Arthur, it's 9 wins and 8 losses. I'm about to make it to 10."
"You cheated that one time so we are basically tied!" Arthur couldn't believe the audacity of this guy.
Gasp!
Thomas couldn't believe that accusation Arthur threw at him, "Cheated? Me, the great and lovely Tommy? Never. Could age be getting to you earlier than I thought?"
The butler, Albert, couldn't believe this nonsensical banter between these 5 year olds. Old age? What would these young children know about old age? 'I suffer from back problems too many times recently.'
The boys were about to resume their fight and the moment their swords were about to clash, their swords bounced off a blue, translucent, square barrier.
They retreated back a couple steps and looked at Albert. "Young masters, I hope you don't forget what happened last time you were late to dinner."
Shiver
A flashback of their mother giving the craziest of scolding and a week of cleaning the entire mansion by hand while personally making sure everything was nice and shiny supervised by the head maid and if there was even a speck of dust, they would have to redo the entire room again.
"Tie?" Tommy spoke.
Arthur nodded, "Tie."
They put their swords away on the weapons rack. Thomas wiped his sweat off his forehead and rubbed back his black hair. His purple eyes gazing upon the big mansion before smiling.
Arthur's purple eyes fell on Tommy doing too much about his face and shook his head, tempted to facepalm at that moment. His golden hair waving from the gusts of wind.
Making their way to their room to take a shower, time passed before they got quickly ready.
In Tommy's room, he was getting dressed. Every dinner the family had was formal. He walked to his mirror and looked upon the reflection of himself.
"Having purple eyes still looks so weird to me." He chuckled, "But damn do I look good."
He pried his eyes from his reflection with great reluctance and sat down on his bed. Falling back, he looked at the ceiling and called, "Status."
[Status]
[Name: Thomas Shelby]
[Stage: None]
[Age: 5]
[Title: None]
[Skills: {Weapon Mastery} ]
[Status End]
It has been over 5 years since Thomas and Arthur were reborn. At first they were stunned that this was reality. They recognized each other at first glance but couldn't communicate until they were actually able to speak.
When they were capable of reading the language here and speaking, they delved right into where and when they were.
"Still can't believe I'm in the Shelby Family."
The Sword and Shield of Winter, The Shelby Family. The second most powerful family in the Arcanthus Empire, just right behind the Royal Family.
Of course that would be good, great even if not that the Shelby family will get destroyed in Imperial Year 724, which is 9 years from now.
We are in year 715, about 9 years from the main storyline since the fall of the Shelby Family, is the start of everything.
The Shelby family are basically kings of the north. They control everything. However, there is a major disadvantage. They are bordered next to the Fiends. The abominations and monsters with no intelligence.
Thanks to that, they frequently attack the fortress that we stationed there to prevent monsters. Of course, it doesn't work every time. In the case of a wave, they go right through the fortress and then defenses before making their way to the city of Frosthaven, my home.
The dangers of this has caused the Royal family to waive any taxes that people of Frosthaven have to pay which made this city have a high population despite the danger.
In 10 years, we would have a Class 8 Fiend Wave. The highest level that hasn't been seen in history that would destroy the city.
So in 10 years, Arthur and I have to get as strong as possible.
Thankfully it seems the Creator has bestowed us a great talent for weapons. We don't know about magic yet since we haven't unlocked a mana core yet because apparently the rules state commoners must unlock it at 12, nobles at 10, and the Royal family does it at 6.
The reasons are pretty obvious. It's alright though because we have a way to unlock it at the same time as the Royal family, maybe even a little bit earlier.
Tommy smiled.
Knock knock
He stood up from his bed and walked to the door. Just when he was about to open it, the door opened rapidly and hit him hard.
"Sonofabitch!"
Arthur walked in, saw what he did, smiled and said, "Oh, my bad."
'Oh. My. God. Should I just kill him?'
Before anything happened, The head maid, Meredith, walked in. "Young masters, please stop fooling around, Madam is calling you."
Tommy glared at Arthur, "This is not over."
"Says every third rate villain ever." To which Arthur responded with a smile.
They walked to the dining room and saw his parents already seated down.
Gloria Shelby, the Madam of the Shelby Household. Her golden hair flowed down and was as beautiful and neat as silk. Her golden eyes, similar but deeper compared to her hair, were simply as sweet as honey. Her face is clear of any blemishes and a warm and motherly smile.
She was Tier 6, A Sentinel. One of the strongest human beings and mage in Twilight. Her magic was pure destruction. She specialized in fire magic and was known as 'Ashbringer'.
Hunter Shelby. The Patriarch of the Shelby Household. His metallic, messy, black hair and dark amethyst eyes were similar to the galaxy that the twins knew from earth. He had a scar downward on his eye that made him look immensely intimidating. A thin mustache and a birthmark on the corner of his left eye. Anyone could look at him and shrink back in fear.
He was tier 7. Elysium Tier. One of the very few people to reach this stage. He was a scythe wielder. A weapon not commonly seen. He was the only one in the world to wield both Aura and Magic. He specialized in dark magic which was corrosive, violent, and deadly. There was also an ability that he had that made him as powerful as he is now. The power to cut magic. Due to all those abilities, he became known as 'The Executioner'.
However, that's only to people from outside the family. To Tommy and Arthur, they were simply just their Mom and Dad.
Tommy walked and sat down on his chair, "What's for dinner today? I feel famished."
Arthur sat down as well and stayed silent. Time passed and they finished their food.
Gloria spoke up, "Heard you guys were sparring against each other again. Please take it easy, you guys could end up hurting yourself." Her tone sounded very worried and Tommy and Arthur felt bad for making her feel like this.
"We won't get hurt. Besides we need to get stronger—no, we want to become stronger. We don't want to bring shame to you guys by people saying the children of the famous Shelby Family are weak." Arthur maintained a straight gaze into his mothers eyes as he spoke.
"I don't care if anybody calls you weak, besides, if anyone dares to say that I will not just burn them but also their whole family, then I will go for their friends and I wouldn't st—."
"Gloria." Hunter said calmly, "Are you serious? Calm down. Maybe if you did you wouldn't just burn them. You'd also cut off their legs, throw their family to the Fiends and make them watch as the Fiends eat their family alive. Then, get the best healer to keep the perp alive and make them watch as we pull their nails and eyeballs from their sockets and—."
"Guys! Stop!" Tommy and Arthur had their jaws dropped to the ground at this brutal description.
Tommy gave a deep sigh, "In all seriousness—."
"Oh, were we not serious?" Hunter questioned.
Gloria agreed, "I believe we were very serious even."
Tommy couldn't help but wonder what other people would think of his parents acting this way. "In all seriousness, we need to get stronger. So that's why Arthur and I had a question for you Dad."
Tommy and Arthur both stood up and straightened their backs and looked straight into their father's amethyst eyes. "Please train us. We know that while your main weapon may be a scythe, you are also very proficient in other weapons."
The Shelby parents were shocked. Their children's desire to grow was so strong and their eyes burned with desire. They looked at each other and smiled. "I won't take it easy on you."
The boy's eyes beamed up and smiled, "Of course, we are ready."
Hunter laughed, "I'm sure you are."
The boys had a bad feeling from their father's laugh but shook it off.
"Now sit down, this little conversation almost made me forget what I was going to initially tell you." Hunter said.
"In two weeks, we will be traveling to the Capital."
