Warmth.

It was the first thing I fely the momeknt I wake up, and the feelingvwas not the kind you get from sunlight or cozy blankets. This felt more deeper. Heavier. Like being cradled in the heartbeat of something ancient. Living. Familiar. Powerful and protective.

It was him.

The arm draped lazily around my waist, rough and firm, anchoring me.

I could feel the steady rise and fall of his chest pressed against my back. His scent, damn, his scent is very intoxicating, earth after rain, pine and musk, with a hint of smoke that clung to my skin like a lover's vow. I didn't need to open my eyes. I knew exactly where I was.

In his bed.

Wrapped in his warmth.

I feelt contented.

A soft smile tugged at my lips before my mind coulfd even catch up.

It wasn't the kind of smile I'd grown used to, tight, uncertain.

This was different. Whole. Quietly reverent. Like my soul exhaled before I could.

I didn't remember ever waking up and feeling like this.

Safe.

Needed.
