The revelation that he could have a child somewhere was a shock to Melanie. Her mind was already scrambling to make sense of everything, but even so, she tried to stay calm. In this moment, she didn't know what to think or how to feel about it.
On one hand, she could understand his reasons for letting Saira come close to him again, despite the risks, to find out the possibility of him having a child... But on the other hand, she couldn't imagine Adam's child being anywhere near Robert Collins. The man was ruthless, and the thought of an innocent child in his hands made her stomach turn.
And she knew Adam might be thinking the same thing. Until now, Robert Collins had kept Saira hidden so no one could have questioned her. And now that she was back...
"So, have you been able to find out?"
Another sigh, and Adam shook his head. "No. She's always maintained that she lost the child."
And now... he wasn't even sure if he wanted to find the child anymore.
