The monster dashed in as Thames brought down the blade in a sweeping arc. It dodged narrowly as the blade cleaved through the air with bone shattering force.
The freak moved around to his side and tried to exploit the opening to go for his ribs. Thames denied him the opportunity, quickly shifting to heavy blade into the path of it's fists.
KRAANG.
The blade vibrated from the impact, wobbling Thames's hold on the hit.
The creature's hands were bounced off but the lower two were still there.
They pounded into Thames's ribs, pushing him back. He grunted as he was staggered.
The creature recovered faster and dashed towards Thames.
"Ugh, I gotta angle this blade differently when parrying, no way I'm gonna allow that to happen again".
The creature interrupted his thoughts with a fist to the face, Thames interrupted the punch by using the flat of his blade to parry it away.
He went on the offensive, using heavy swings to keep the creature at bay. It dodged out of the way, lightly stepping in between blows like they were skipping rocks on a lake.
Thames steadied his blade, orientating it into a defensive position as the creature moved out of his reach.
'I can't chase after it, or else I'm just going to trip on all these cables'.
Thames stayed in the defensive position, waiting for whatever the creature's next move would be.
He didn't have to wait for long as the creature immediately began pelting him with rocks again.
'Shit', Thames quickly hid his body behind his blade, the suit he was wearing could probably block the hits, but he wasn't going to take that choice. He had seen what those projectiles did to what was probably futuristic desks and walls.
He removed his hands from the sword because he was wary of the vibrations of the impact, they would rattle his bones and he did not want to experience that again.
Then all of a sudden the pelting rocks stopped. Thames took a glance over the sword and what he saw shocked him.
The creature was dashing at full speed towards him then it jumped and dropkicked the great sword sending it flying with Thames following.
Thames hadn't seen the wind up but he had seen the dropkick headed for him. If he hadn't removed his hands from the sword, he was sure he would have been broken his hands.
Thames crashed through a wall and fell onto his great sword with his back. The slab of metal was the worst landing mat he had ever had the pleasure of using.
15% PERCENT OF INTEGRITY COMPROMISED.
The words on the visor flashed and returned as quickly as they had arrived.
'Ughh, stupid furry mut, how does it even know how to perform a dropkick'. Thames grunted in pain. He hadn't broken anything but it still hurt like hell. Thames saw the creature approaching his new resting place and knew he had to end the fight as soon as possible.
He was sure his great sword was able to harm it with how much the creature tried to avoid it. The problem was that it was too fast and nimbly avoided his attacks. It also hit hard as hell and was kinda smart, evidenced by his current predicament.
'I need to stop him from moving at all'. Thames pulled himself up with his sword, his ribs aching badly, he steadied his breathing and waited for the creature swiftly approaching him.
He raised the blade as the creature got close and swung it diagonally, the creature dodged the swing and tried to swing at his vital points. Thames denied it the opportunity as the battle fell into a smooth flow.
The next clash was a blur — metal flashing, fists weaving, the clangs of metal hitting bone. Thames's blows were ferocious but slow and yet the monster's fists were always being blocked or parried when the blows were about to connect.
The monster ducked under a brutal downswing, charged in and drove a lethal punch towards his solar plexus and another towards his liver.
The monster grinned as it could taste the sweet nectar of victory and after preferably Thames's blood.
The punches rocketed with ferocious force.
But they never landed.
With a grunt, Thames twisted his grip mid swing and slammed the flat of the blade into the creature's ribs like a professional batter.
Ribs crushed as the creature was lunched backwards, skidding across the floor and crashing into a desk.
Thames dashed at the fallen creature as fast as he could, eager to kill it before it recovered. The creature staggered to it's feet and charged in towards Thames.
It's green eyes blazed with murderous intent as it zigzagged outside the arc of the great sword. It dove in at the chance of another opening, it's fists rocketing towards Thames face.
Thames grabbed it's fist mid punch with his offhand and dragged the creature in close. The great sword rose and fell, metal flashing like a guillotine.
The creature caught the blade with it's remaining hands, the fourth joining them as Thames released his grip so he could exert more force on the great sword.
The creature bent to it's knees, failing the contest of strength with Thames.
Sweat matted it's fur and dust clunged to it's skin as the creature struggled with the weight.
"You brought fists to a sword fight, big mistake". With a grin, Thames twisted the sword into a slightly different angle, momentarily displacing it's hands.
With that brief opening, Thames drove the sword down, messily bisecting the creature.
The two halves collapsed on the floor and Thames leaned on the sword and sighed in relief.
"Brought Fists to a sword fight, Heh, That sounded corny" Thames chuckled at his one liner "I should do that more often".
With that, he slumped to his feet, catching his breath.
'There we're other weapons in that pod, I should check them out' Thames stood up, grunting at the amount of effort it took, then walked back to the pod, dragging the sword behind him.
"Let's see". Thames peered into the pod, getting his first good look at his weapon cache when something caught his eyes.
He twisted his face in anger as he reached for what he saw.
"A gun, there's a stinking gun in the pod"
