Chapter 84 - Transformation

The words repeated in Ryker's mind. We wait here until Kael and the others walk out that door.

He was growing impatient. What if they never did? 

What if all of his friends had already perished in there?

Ryker steeled himself, clinging on to Ronin's last orders. 

"Stay out here," he'd said. "Wait for us."

That was what he would do. He would be no help running into the burning prison and getting himself killed. 

"But staying out here makes me feel so useless," Ryker grumbled.

"Any second now," Lucian replied, though his body was crippled with tension. He didn't believe the words he was saying. 

Then Ryker heard it. The low hum of an engine. 

He looked up.

At first, he saw only dust rising in the distance.

Then lights.

A transport was coming in, and fast. 

Ryker stepped back, and the other rebels followed his lead. 

"This is not good," he said, almost to himself. 

The Capitol had sent reinforcements.
