Chapter 61 - Chapter 5 Part 9.5

The vehicle dropped back down and she fit right through the gap and caught Griff who hugged her tight. But there was no time for a reunion. She kicked out sliding over bent metal and broken glass, blowing through the gap in the rear window and into the gap between the pyramid floor and the rising sign and kicked sideways upon getting caught by the wind.

A merciless unknowable force of wind gripped onto her and dragged them both upwards but in the right direction as her hand slid up the sign.

She caught onto the lightning rod, on the top of the pyramid by her shoe.

She needed to yell instructions but that wasn't going to happen. Something heavy slammed onto the post bending it, early ripping it out.

A wooden post, likely from a mailbox, no it had been a fancy birdhouse! It had flown in from the side. There was a massive length of insulted wire attached to it, half of it had been wrapped around the post. It was stuck.

Then she wrapped the rubbery wire around Griff. Pole and all, then hugged him as hard as she could then let go. Water and wind rushed her as she rolled to the side, just as the massive sign slammed into the tip and the car rolled on the side, hooking onto the rail and lightning rod. It ripped under the sheer forces. But she was onto the other side of the wind. The pair pulling the cord up until the whole top broke way, just as they reached it. There was a splash as she landed in a thin passage that was an elevator shoot. It was completely full of water with Griff swimming on the surface. Kate pulled the grinning idiot down. Both were under water and looking up as darkness fell over them.

The surface churned with endless impacts and pulls. Going back up would yank them out or crush them. But they'd have to breathe eventually.

Then a new current sucked them backwards and down. They passed through a door into a storage room, choking and gasping for air.

She was alive, Griff, coughing and gasping, was alive!

Kate looked up and saw that same French monster. He was soaking wet and gasping too.

"You, you" He panted unable to finish.

Kate stood up and hugged Griff, gasping before limping and ambling up to Young Striker and punched him directly in the face.

"You! You left my brother to die! I kill you! Now!"
