Chapter 109 - Moon Goddess

If you ignored the fact that it was a horrifying process that overwrote every single cell in your body, the resurrection of Kaguya Ōtsutsuki was quite fascinating to watch.

From what I could gather, there was a small fragment of Kaguya left in the Juubi, Black Zetsu, basically took the fragment and overfilled it with Chakra, which caused an instant explosive growth as it absorbed more and more Chakra until it reached its full size.

It used both the flesh of Obito and the Chakra from the Ryūmyaku, absorbing it at an insane rate as it grew, both physically and in power, until it had fully regenerated Kaguya.

But I saw that the body was empty, or rather, dormant, Kaguya wasn't awake yet.

I snapped my fingers.

The roots connecting to the Ryūmyaku exploded into flames, disappearing into ash within seconds, I was fine with them temporarily weakening the Source, but the Ryūmyaku needed constant flow to function properly, if Kaguya kept absorbing it at this rate, then it would never recover.

Plus, letting her regain her full power was not something I wanted to do.

The flow coming to her stopped abruptly, causing the entire mass to wither, almost like it had been starved.

My interference did not go unnoticed, Black Zetsu quickly noticed the missing source of Chakra, and cursed.

But in Zetsu's eyes, he had gotten what he wanted, he did something I didn't fully understand, the thing I could compare it too was Orochimaru's Seals, but while Orochimaru's process was elegant, this one was crude and forceful.

It didn't mean it was lesser, it just meant that Kaguya did not need any of the additional safeties or processes, her soul simply sank into the empty flesh.

She merged with the body, and with a jolt, I could see her awaken.

And before she fully regained her awareness, I acted.

A hand made out of void and stars reached out from a portal, smashed through the withered cocoon, it grabbed Black Zetsu from within Kaguya, and dragged him out, he tried to resist, but it was futile.

He screamed loudly as he was plucked out of Kaguya's body, desperately trying to return to her.

I didn't bother giving him an audience, a second later, he vanished along with my hand.

I didn't bother giving him a speech, or gloating, his desperation was enough for me.

The moment he was dragged into my Divine Realm, he was surrounded by fire, a constant conflagration that burned without rest.

And that was the end of him, if he thought that he would enjoy any sort of triumph after he indirectly caused me so much trouble, then he was sorely mistaken.

But he wasn't the main event, I turned my attention back to what the whole point of this was.

The remains of the cocoon fell away, revealing Kaguya Ōtsutsuki.

She blinked slowly, like she was waking up from a long sleep.

Then she slowly floated down, gently landing on the ground.

Her face scrunched slightly in confusion, her eyes flickering around the area as she took in everything.

Eventually, they landed on me.

And with speed that was honestly startling even to me, she appeared in front of me.

"You, where is my child?" She demanded, her voice cold and firm. "I felt him for as I was coming out of my slumber, but he is gone."

Woops. Guess she was more aware than I thought during her revival.

Time to participate in an honored pastime.

"He died to bring you back." I told her solemnly. "Channeling the Chakra required to revive you killed him."

Her eyes flickered with grief, but it was quickly hidden.

"I see..." She said quietly. "Explain your lack of Chakra, human."

This was turning out more civil than I thought it would.

But then again, we hadn't reached the real elephant in the room yet, namely that fact that she wanted to turn everyone into plants.

"What do you mean, 'explain your lack of Chakra' I just don't have it." I said with a shrug. "But this isn't my real body, just a puppet of sorts."

Kaguya gave no outward reaction to those words.

"And why are you here?"

Ah, well, time for the truth.

"I wanted an alliance." I told her simply. "Against a mutual enemy, one that wishes to harm our world."

She stared at me silently.

"There are no enemies that threaten this world." She stated eventually.

I smiled slightly.

"Not yet, but they will come."

And Kaguya looked up towards the stars, an unrecognizable expression on her face before it morphed into an expression of disgust and hatred.

"Them." She hissed quietly.

She didn't elaborate further, but I had no need for one.

"Indeed." I nodded seriously. "As you can imagine, the Otsutsuki Clan would love to harvest this world, like so many others before it."

And she turned back to me, staring me down intensely.

"They will not succeed." She proclaimed firmly. "This world belongs to me."

"I assume you still want to reclaim your Chakra." I guessed. "Killing everyone that carries it?"

Kaguya didn't hesitate when she answered.

"Yes."

Her voice was the most intense it had been for the whole conversation, filled with conviction.

"Even the children? The innocent?" I asked her slowly. "Your descendants?"

Her eyes widened slightly, a flicker of emotion passed through them before they returned to normal.

Guess she was surprised at having a distant family.

"All those that carry my Chakra stole from me."

I sighed tiredly, she really wasn't going to budge on that point.

"Please, Kaguya, you are immortal, and Chakra naturally increases as time goes on." I tried to reason with her. "There is no reason to kill, all that energy will eventually return to you, and increase beyond what you lost."

"If they stole from me, then I shall reclaim it." She stated again. "Their lives belong to me."

Ah well, it was worth a try.

"I will fight you for this world." I told her seriously.

She just nodded in understanding.

"If you wish to protect those that have stolen from me, then that is your choice." She said. "But I am a Goddess, you stand no chance against me, human."

Her hand moved faster than even my human eyes could register, a sharp bone blade emerging from her wrist.

It cut right through my neck, cleanly chopping my head off.

The decapitated body crumbled to the ground as Kaguya stared at it.

She wondered what the true form of this man looked like, if it was a puppet, then why would he make something so weak?

"Ah, damn, you really are fast." She looked down, to see the head looking up at her. "Are you sure you don't want to reconsider? The people that follow me are dear to me, I would rather us become allies."

Kaguya nodded in understanding, she respected his resolve.

She too would rather not fight, she held no ill feelings towards the man, as he did not possess her Chakra.

Human he might be, but he had conducted himself adequately.

But even though his resolve was admirable, it mattered little.

He would die all the same.

The bone blade coming from her wrist, blackened.

It stabbed down onto the man's head.

And the head turned into dust soon after.

Kaguya looked around once more, her expression placid, the area surrounding her was empty of thieves, her Byakugan had detected none so far.

She needed to find a large gathering of them, so she could plant the God Tree and absorb their Chakra.

She needed the power, and she wanted the thieves gone, they did not deserve to live in her world.

Once she recovered to her full power, she could use the Infinite Tsukiyomi on the world at large.

But as she looked up, she saw something odd in the night sky above her.

The stars were moving, shifting in unnatural ways as they formed some sort of shape.

A feeling she had not experienced for a long time came over her.

She felt uneasy.

Because there was something hiding behind the stars.
