" Mum! Mum! "I am dying" I shouted loudly. " What! "Are you okay?" my mother rushed to my rescue.
"My back! My stomach! Mum! Please help" I screamed.
For sure, I was experiencing unusual signs in my body. I obviously thought I was pregnant.
"What is all this drama about?" my mother said. "You are a big girl now?" she added.
I informed my mother that I felt like vomiting. I was granted permission to leave for the first time after being held captive for three days. My mother was sure that after sex pill wouldn't work anymore as I had already surpassed the seventy-two hours recommended.
I rushed outside, trying to use my hand to block my mouth, as if that could hold me back from vomiting for a while.
After vomiting, I entered the house and found my mother on the coach. She maintained a warm smile, maybe she was celebrating the accomplishment of her evil plans against me.
I sat on the next coach facing her. I kept blinking watery eyes at her.
"Mum, why should I carry a stranger in my womb? "Someone whose character remains uncertain to me?" I asked her.
"Don't worry my daughter, Dan is a good boy and his character is amazing", my mother tried to convince me.
"No, I am not convinced. They just moved here a year ago and for sure we can't trace their family line." I felt concerned.
I tried to tell my mother to gain a sense of the conversation. What if Dan is from a habitual thievery blood? What is their family is traced to a witch-like character or a cult?
All my concerns were overlooked. My mum forced the conversation into a natural death.
My mind was disturbed. I was thinking about how I could escape from that place. But because I am now free, moving away would be easier.
I took my checking sheet and left home. I was not sure where I was going, but somewhere just far would be better. A place where I could not be traced.
Darkness was approaching, and the street was empty. I walked through the darkness, my heart could skip a beat. I could just get scared by even objects on the way.
Late into the night, I was still walking but feeling weary.
I heard faint voices from above. I could see a bright torch approaching me from far away. My body froze, chills of fear overpowering me.
I decided to hide in a nearby bush. I quickly rushed and knelt down. Little did I know that I had invaded someone's habitat.
I stepped on a puppy, only to realize others behind me. It seemed that a stray dog had hit that place.
I said a word to my Maker. A word seeking protection.
I jumped up on my thin leg, ran at a mind-boggling speed. I had to rush to the adjacent bush.
I felt lucky because if the stray mother dog were around, maybe I would be nursing serious injuries.
In the nearby bush, I saw the light moving closer. I just wished to be safe.
Deep-voiced men were approaching. I guessed they were bad people. My body chilled as I saw them carrying blunt objects.
At a stone-throwing distance, one of the men chased a dog. The dog unfortunately ran towards the place I was hiding.
I desperately saw a man taking a huge stone and threw it just behind the escaping dog.
The stone hit my leg hard, crushing it at once. I just desperately experienced my leg breaking. Also, a huge cut on my leg was terrifying.
I watched desperately as blood oozed from my thin leg. I was forced to let out a loud scream.
I regretted seeing those men running away from the scene. I realized that they were cowards and facing them could not have caused any serious concern.
"Help! "Help! "Someone help!" I kept shouting continuously.
People from the neighborhood came to rescue me. But the story didn't add up. No one could believe what transpired.
I lay down helplessly. The people surrounding me were busy trying to find a solution.
"Young girl, where do you come from?" a soft-spoken voice asked. Unfortunately, I was not in a position to answer them. I remained murmuring in pain.
I could clearly hear people mentioning an ambulance, but my conscious was slowly fading away.
I was carried and placed in an ambulance.
A philanthropist went with me to the hospital. I was rushed to the emergency and accident ward where I was admitted.
I can remember up to the time a nurse injected me with a substance which I guess was medicinal.
I woke up early in the morning, only to find my leg with a bandage. The pain was beyond my age.
On the hospital bed, I took my phone and called my friend, Evelyn.
"Hello babe, hope you are fine" I began a phone conversation with her. Evelyn was my best friend, and we normally used the little babe whenever talking.
"I was in the hospital bed. "I had an accident the previous night. "I was admitted to City Square general hospital," I informed my friend.
Evelyn became more curious. She wanted more explanation of what happened. To cut the story, I had to hang up the call.
My phone rang, and I thought she could be Evelyn. I looked at it only to find mum calling. Obviously, I had to ignore it. How could I have explained that I am in the hospital? Leave alone injured.
I struggled for my life. My future lied in the hands of medical experts.
I was taken care of by a stranger, who facilitated and paid my bills. He seemed a kind person.
The philanthropist whom I depended on for assistance was actually a middle-aged man. He had a protruding belly and heavyweight body. I was disturbed still, trying to figure out if the help was truly genuine.
In the morning, the philanthropist who introduced himself as Festo, brought breakfast for me. He had ordered a thermos full of tea together with a cake.
At lunchtime, he came and inquired about what I preferred. I wanted to ask for a chicken but was restrained. I didn't want to look materialistic. Also, I didn't deserve it. He was just doing it out of good will.
In the afternoon, my friend Evelyn came to see me. I was very happy seeing her. She had brought some fruits with her.
When Evelyn arrived, we started chatting. The story was interesting to an extent. I forgot my situation.
In the end, I could not allow her to go. I was to either go with her, or she would remain with me.
But the reality was that I was too weak to be discharged. The doctor had recommended at least two weeks. But for me, two weeks was quite a lot of time.
I finally succeeded in convincing Evelyn to remain behind. We kept engaged in interesting conversation the whole night. Even some patients in the ward kept on complaining about us making noise. We could not just hold on.
The doctor on the shift kept warning us to maintain silence. But now I had a favorite friend and couldn't control myself.
