Chapter 226 - Battle With Blue

Pallet Town, Oak Research Center

Inside Oak Research Center, there is also an excellent battlefield. After all, everyone here has the ability to play against each other, so it's a good idea to have a battlefield to train on or to play against your friends.

But ultimately, the use of it was relatively rare. After all, Red is always in Mt. Silver, Blue is a fish out of water, but he can't always leave Viridian Gym behind.

And Professor Oak was too old to do it again. So it's not a venue that's used very often.

If you really want to talk about it, this is where Rope and the Pokémon usually choose to fight.

At this moment, this field, which had been quiet for many days, was once again bustling with activity.

Rope looked at Blue, who had a big smile on his face, and Red, who was leaping to the side and clenching his fists in front of him, and then turned his head to look at Professor Oak, who was close to escaping with his popcorn and preparing to watch the show, Daisy, who was helpless, and Whitley, who had an innocent look on his face.

He was acutely aware of the difficulty of his own situation at the moment.

"I... let's fight without rules if we can!"

Rope looked at Red and Blue with a tough face, then said with an outwardly strong voice.

Red and Blue looked at each other, then Blue turned his head and said, "No... Rope, seen any Gym Leader fight you in a no rules battle."

"It's against League rules... it's not that we don't want to, but it's for the validity of your grade, so we can't!"

Blue said at length, with a look of regret...

The corners of Rope's mouth twitched slightly, granny bear...I believed you...

Then Rope immediately shifted the fire.

"Red you're not the Gym Leader, why are you involved!"

Red smiled, then said, "Referee..."

The kind that blows black whistles????

For the first time, Rope began to reflect on whether or not he was usually too hard on himself...what kind of grudge is this everyone...

"Professor, don't you care either????"

Rope saw that he couldn't get through to Red and Blue, so he decisively chose to fight in a roundabout way.

Unfortunately...

"I think what Blue said makes sense.Rope, as a trainer. You are to be brave enough to accept challenges!"

Professor Oak had a serious face. His words would have been a little more convincing if he wasn't still chewing the popcorn Rope made in his mouth.

Rope sucked in a breath of cold air, acutely aware of his family's 'brother' status.

Rope turned his head again to Blue, who'd rushed back from Viridian City overnight, and Red, who'd flown in from Mt. Silver overnight.

It was hard to imagine these two being so obsessed with beating the shit out of him.

"Come on! Fight!"

Rope challenged in a loud, impassioned tone.

Blue and Red looked at each other once again.

[You do it or I do it?]

[You do it, I'm not the Gym Leader. He'll get ahold of me.]

Okay, I'll do it.

Rope and them were old friends, and Rope understood the eye contact between them.

And so it felt even more ballsy.

"Say...Blue you guys couldn't have intended for Red to be a gym challenge mission in the first place..."

Rope feels like she has a toothache when she says that...

Blue has an appreciative look on her face, "Not bad for Rope! Still so flexible..."

"...Over the top, have you ever seen a gym task harder than challenging the Gym Leader?"

Rope said with a slight twitch at the corner of his mouth.

Blue's veins blossomed on his forehead.

Stepping on thunder was successful!

"Come on, come on, let's use sparring to communicate!"

With that, he threw out his Pokéball.

"Come on out, Alakazam!"

Rope:...

For real? Really just the championship winning lineup...

The Alakazam fox in front of him also brought a wry smile on his face.

You know, although the Alakazam in front of you is not the strongest Pokémon under Blue's hand, it is definitely Blue's best helper.

Many of the Pokémon under Blue's command didn't have Blue's own training program. Instead, Alakazam gives Blue an outline, and then Blue modifies it.

Moreover, Alakazam is also in charge of the Pokémon that guard the gym...

It can be said that he is barely considered Blue's secretary or even a doppelganger...

Although the corners of Rope's mouth were slightly twitching, he also knew that he had no choice. But he knew he had no choice.

Even if he was going to get his ass kicked in the middle of this battle, Rope still knew. This sparring match... was something that could not be avoided.

Rope took a deep breath, then removed a Pokéball from his waist.

"Come out, Charizard!"

Rope's words landed, and Charizard scurried out of the Pokéball.

"ROAR!!!"

A roar with sparks rang out.Charizard stared furiously at the Alakazam in front of him.

Though he knew that the people in front of him didn't mean any harm to Rope. But all Charizard knew was...as long as Rope thirsted for victory. Then he must bring victory to Rope!

"Alakazam!"

Alakazam nodded rather appreciatively as he looked at the Charizard in front of him with a good aura and an even better energy level.

And Blue in the back nodded softly as well. Judging from the length of the Charizard's growth, Rope's high-quality Pokéblock had gotten perfect results.

There wasn't even a bit of residual energy.

This point was clearly the effect of Rope's ability.

And Red, who was acting as a referee next to him, nodded appreciatively.

It wasn't Charizard's cultivation status he was looking at. Rather, it was Charizard's eyes.

That kind of eyes that blazed like fire and wouldn't stop until victory was achieved...it really made Red like it!

Like a fighter.

Rope took a deep breath, then spoke, "Charizard, Sunny Day."

Red flames rose from Charizard's body, completing the fitting of the Flame Armor in a flash.

A searing but not blazing fire energy mass then converged in Charizard's mouth, and then the fire energy mass rose into the air, and then to the naked eye the temperature around him rose significantly, and the sun became significantly more blazing.

"Tch, Rope you guy... this kind of reinforcement is too much!"

Blue looked at Rope with suspicion and shock, the last time he saw Rope, the Pokémon under his hand weren't this powerful. After the enhancement it was just barely in the state of being able to get into the eye of the beholder.

But now... the peak of Elite Level Four... close to Champion Level strength... it's too much.

That's a power gap that many people would struggle to overcome...

But here in Rope's case it's just a bit of effortless strengthening...

"So you psychics are all too perverted..."

Blue Rubbed his temples then said, "AlakazamConfusion."

Blue simply went for a strong attack.

"Up Fly, Dodge! Flamethrower!"

Sunny Day Charizard, a pretty normal beatdown. Thanks to the fact that it wasn't specifically stated that Pokémon could only carry four skills.

So Charizard has a pretty wide range of strikes.

But Rope still chose Flamethrower... after all, with the native bonus plus the Sunny Day bonus, the fire skills had the ability to deal good damage only if there wasn't too much of a difference in strength.

Blue didn't open his mouth to command, Alakazam himself naturally lifted Confusion upwards by one hand, and then charged right into Flamethrower...

And so Confusion was once again set ablaze.

Blue: "...???"

No, can this fire even ignite Confusion?

Rope, are you guys hanging on too much?????

The corners of Red's mouth were also slightly twitching, it was fortunate that he didn't directly fight with Rope, but chose to scout the situation first. Otherwise, he would have been the one to suffer this loss.

That said, if even Confusion can be ignited...what else can be ignited as well?

Red revealed a smile that had a hint of excitement.

"Disconnect!"

Blue ordered succinctly.

Alakazam also instantly grasped Blue's meaning. The spoon in his hand was withdrawn, and then the piece of Confusion that was being burned rapidly became a source of no source of water, quickly burned away by the red flame.

Alakazam didn't give up, a pink light flashed in his eyes, and then the spoons in his hands interlocked followed by a pink circle of light that struck towards Charizard.

It's Psybeam, Rope quickly made a judgment and then commanded, "Charizard, Dragon Rush!"

Charizard's genetic skills were finally put to use. In the past when he couldn't fly he always had to find a way to get a pop down to call it a dive. Otherwise it was just called a dash.

Rope also had no dana, it was too much of a hassle and he didn't use the move much. Thankfully it did work now.

Charizard roared in the air, his body covered in blue and purple energy, followed by red color mixed into it.

In mid-air, a reddish-purple dragon shadow took shape.

Then it charged down violently. It was like a reddish-purple meteor.

"Alakazam, Teleport!"

Blue decisively chose to avoid the front line for the time being. Dragon Rush itself was the more powerful move in the Dragon System. Moreover, anyone with an eye could tell that Rope's move had been strengthened.

It was better to avoid it.

The space around Alakazam distorted, and in a flash, Alakazam appeared above Charizard. Then there was a move of Spirit Strong Thought.

Apparently, compared to Natsi's Alakazam, Blue's Alakazam preferred strong attacks. Or maybe everyone in Pallet Town is the same...all tactics to sudden face.

This includes Rope as well, where everything is prepared for a frontal face-surge.

Charizard hit the ground hard.

That's why it's just troublesome to deal with psychic power system Pokémon, it's just too hard to be faster than Teleport's speed. Especially for a Pokémon like Alakazam, who only used Teleport during Casey's time.

Proficiency Points are full...

There's basically no forward swing when you start up, and basically no backward swing when you connect to a skill, so it's just too hard to deal with.

Charizard crashed to the ground, stirring up a large cloud of dust.

Alakazam instantly frowned, then passed Blue a look.

[Can't find it? Surely that armor still has the effect of isolating psychic power perception...I just don't know if Aura can isolate it...]

Blue rubbed his chin and thought, but Blue didn't open his mouth to command, because Alakazam knew best what to do now.

Alakazam hovered in mid-air, the spoons in his hands overlapping as a light pink psychic power glowed around him.

Then Reflect and Light Screen lit up at the same time.

Alakazam didn't have the method to learn how to clear the fog, so also facing this situation, defense was the best option instead.

"Psycho Cut ready!"

Although Blue knew that Alakazam had no problem handling it, he still told Alakazam to get ready to be blitzed in the face.

For those of them who were the best at face-surfing, the best at dealing with it was naturally face-surfing.

These preparations were long to say the least, but in reality it was only a matter of a second or two.

"Charizard, Flare Blitz!"

One could only speak of the fruity advantage of the sudden face.

Blue on one side also had a 'Fruity' reaction. After all, the so-called battle opportunities were fleeting, and naturally a real sparring match couldn't be a turn-based game that gave you enough time to read and guess first.

What they had to do was to quickly complete their judgment of the battle situation, their first read and prediction of the enemy within a second or two.

This was what a trainer was...a profession that could be characterized by greatness.

Charizard roared and slammed into Alakazam's Light Screen and Reflect. And then crashed right through those two defenses. Or rather, melted these two walls congealed by psychic power.

"Psycho Cut!"

Blue decisively ordered when he saw this. Seriously, he really didn't expect Rope's Charizard to punch through these two walls so easily, it really was as natural as eating and drinking.

A hot knife cutting through butter, Blue naturally thought of this description.

Then he secretly shook his head, it looks like if someone is going to use this tactic against Rope in the future, they're bound to suffer a big loss...

But what Blue didn't think of was that in the moment he was lost in thought, a sudden change occurred.

"Charizard! Blast Burn!"

At this moment, in Alakazam's hands, two light pink blades of light extending from a spoon had already fiercely blasted Charizard's body... and then... in front of his eyes Charizard had just turned into green starbursts, scattering in all directions...

Blue and Alakazam both noticed the bad news at first. Unfortunately, the moment Alakazam started his swing, Rope had already given the order.

In the dust and smoke, a ball of flame coalesced for a moment before it immediately blasted towards Alakazam's side.

The huge crimson flame condensed into a crimson fire dragon in the air and roared as it crashed towards Alakazam.

"Avoid..."

Blue's command was halfway down.Alakazam's Psycho Cut was still swinging back when the flames already attacked.

Alakazam only felt a wave of heat hit him before he was completely overwhelmed by the flames.

Blue raised his hand, then could only slowly lower it.

The air currents kicked up by the flames blew the dust and smoke around them away, and Charizard appeared in the middle of everyone's line of sight, looking at the crowd with an attitude of pride.

Then there was an arrogant growl.

Professor Oak nodded extremely appreciatively, then said, "Whether the tactical idea is good or not is not to be discussed first, Rope's decision making is right.Alakazam is three points stronger than Charizard, if we don't seize the opportunity to have a big hand, then it is estimated that we can't win."

"A big gamble, good thing the gamble won."

It had to be said that Professor Oak still had the is eyesight of a veteran champion level trainer. Rope's thought process was just so clear to him.

"Alakazam is unable to battle! Please ask Gym Leader Blue to send the next Pokémon!"
