August 28th, Friday.
Natsume arrived at the foot of the mountain town on Tropius. Sapphire bowed deeply. "Well then, Natsume-sensei, we'll be taking our leave!"
Ruby, with tears in his eyes, said, "If you have any Pokémon contests footage of Sylveon, please send it to me, Natsume-sensei!"
"Next time, for sure," Natsume nodded.
"By the way, are you two still in touch with Red?"
"Senior Red!" the two exclaimed in unison. "Isn't he still training at Mt. Silver?"
"It's a long story," Natsume said, showing the QR code on his phone. "Anyway… would you like to join a group chat to catch up?"
These two dumb couples were, after all, Pokédex Holders. Adding them to the group would make communication easier.
The two exchanged glances and smiled. "Then we'll trouble you!"
Natsume nodded in satisfaction.
Two new characters unlocked!
Gold was complaining in the group: "Natsume-sensei, when are you releasing a new game? I'm getting sick of mining in Gold Miners!"
Old Man Wattson laughed heartily. "Why not play Plants vs. Zombies?"
Gold: "I can't beat it!"
Wattson laughed even harder. "Then cheat!"
Gold was stunned.
Wait… that makes sense?
At that moment, Green, who was active in the group chat, exclaimed in surprise, "Oh my, welcome newcomers!"
Gold: "Eh, the couple from Hoenn? You've met Natsume-sensei too?"
In Special Editions: Emerald, the ten Pokédex Holders had once engaged in friendly matches at the Battle Frontier.
Notably, Gold had officially defeated Sapphire in the tournament, while Ruby had lost to Blue Oak.
Ruby and Sapphire exchanged glances, both seeing the surprise in each other's eyes.
They never expected to meet other Seniors in this way!
Blue Oak glanced at his phone, recalling Ruby's appearance.
Wearing a tightly fitted hat, his battling style was flashy, but he was still stronger than Gold…
Sapphire smiled. "Yes, we met Senior Steven and Natsume-sensei during our travels, and we even encountered Jirachi!"
The thick-skinned Gold nodded. "Oh, is it the same one we met last time? That Sea Monster was really tough to deal with!"
Ruby: "It's probably a different Jirachi. It's already been safely returned to the starry sky."
Gold: "Darn it! I wanted to see Jirachi too!"
Sabrina stirred the pot: "Natsume-sensei didn't even invite Miss Erika. Why would he invite you?"
Erika chuckled softly. "Oh my, I've been touring Touran for three days without a guide."
Natsume-sensei wisely chose to lurk.
Just then, his phone rang. It was a call from Matori.
"That small team is directly under Lord Giovanni's command. I don't have the authority to reassign them, but you can issue tasks to them on his behalf," Matori said. "This way, they're indirectly under your command."
Natsume sighed regretfully. "Just issuing tasks? Can't I bring them into my company?"
Matori's temple twitched.
So you're not doing anything, and I'm supposed to let you poach three members?
Matori tried to remain calm. "The Jirachi mission has failed. Please urge them to retreat as soon as possible. Thank you for your trouble."
Natsume pouted.
Though it's a shame, Team Rocket also has the task of grinding experience for Pikachu.
A Team Rocket that doesn't chase Pikachu probably has no soul.
"Fine, next time I run into them, I'll squeeze… I mean, take care of them for Giovanni!" Natsume sighed.
The town's festival was also on its final day.
The Meowth-themed ice cream shop was still bustling with business.
Natsume glanced down at Sylveon, who was following him, and couldn't help but laugh.
"Sylveon…"
Though Sylveon tried to act oblivious, the ribbon wrapped around Natsume's arm gave it away.
As they approached the stall, Natsume gave the trio a meaningful look, and Meowth immediately hung up the "Closed" sign.
"How may we assist you?"
"Although this mission failed, your performance was outstanding and deserves recognition," Natsume said sternly.
The trio was stunned.
"We… were just running a stall, meow!" Meowth said awkwardly.
"Yeah, we didn't really help at all!" James and Jessie said nervously.
Natsume complained inwardly, "If you could just focus on making money, the entire Team Rocket would probably be your business!"
But still.
Jessie could have retired after getting married, James could have inherited his family's fortune, and Meowth could have become a translator.
Yet they came together for a shared goal. That's what true idealists are.
"Anyway, believe in yourselves. Your talents will never go unnoticed," Natsume said with a nod.
"Transfer 30% of your profits to my account. Your next mission is to continue chasing Pikachu. Understood?"
The trio was stunned, then saluted with tears in their eyes. "Yes, we'll complete the mission!"
As if you'll ever complete it!
Ash, for you to level up, I've really gone to great lengths!
"Alright, you can retreat now," Natsume said with a smile. "I look forward to our next meeting."
"Yes!" the trio said excitedly.
...
The Jirachi incident had come to an end.
In summary, it was a memorable experience with Cynthia and the three light bulbs.
Additionally, Squirtle learned "Aqua Tail," and Eevee completed its Evolution.
For Pokémon, Evolution is a leap in life.
But for Natsume-sensei, watching his "daughter" grow up was a bittersweet experience.
On the train back to Tokyo, Natsume held the snow-white Sylveon in his arms, drawing many curious glances.
Natsume-sensei remained unfazed, thinking to himself.
What are you looking at? Haven't you seen a tough guy before?
Thanks to Natsume's regular feeding of high-quality Pokéblocks, Sylveon's fur was incredibly soft, making it impossible to stop petting once you started.
However, Natsume-sensei's Sylveon was slightly smaller in size, making it look more like a feline.
Natsume played with Sylveon's two ribbons, tying them into bows and then undoing them, having a great time.
"Sylveon! (#`皿`)"
Back home, Haunter dropped the bags and lazily sprawled on the couch.
"Haunter…" (Finally home…)
Natsume also lay on the couch, groaning. "No cooking today. Let's order takeout!"
"Haunter! (≧ω≦)/"
Haunter picked up Natsume-sensei's phone and excitedly started ordering takeout.
Meanwhile, Squirtle, who had just returned from patrolling outside, cautiously adjusted its sunglasses.
Confirmed, no one's following us!
Natsume shook his head helplessly.
Tomorrow, he'd have to organize the cards for the livestream, and the development of the new game needed to be put on the agenda.
For the sake of the little ones, he had to keep working hard to earn money!
The night was deep.
Natsume lay in bed, falling into a deep sleep.
Sylveon curled up in its cat bed, its sapphire-blue eyes suddenly opening.
Haunter rubbed its hands together, grinning.
Finally evolved—
Shadow Ball, Reflect, Light Screen… New training plans could now be put into action!
Sylveon bared its teeth excitedly.
On this day, the Meowth in the neighborhood once again remembered the fear of being dominated by Eevee!
