Chapter 109 - House Ruby [3]

Raguel and Volt made their way towards his office, which frankly was even more of a mess than Jole's.

However, instead of being messy due to the large quantity of work, it was more like a storm had passed through, ruining most of it.

Volt approached his desk before taking a seat.

He stared at Raguel in silence for a moment, "What will you offer me to support someone as unworthy as Aurelia?"

Raguel frowned, "Unworthy? Why would you think she is unworthy?"

Old Duke pinched the bridge of his nose before speaking, "First of all she is a woman, just like you are unworthy of being a messenger, she is not worthy of being a queen."

He stopped for a moment, letting silence settle,

"And she is too incompetent. If we had to choose a woman, it would be one of her sisters. Aurelia is the worst option."

"Tch. So you would stand against her?" Raguel stared at him with intensity comparable to the sun.

Yet Volt masterfully hid his fear: "Not at all." He smiled, "I just want her to prove that she is a capable ruler."

Raguel leaned forward, "And how would that be?"

He took a deep breath, "You see my mansion? It is completely ruined because Paladins of Chrunus."

Moments, the name 'Paladins of Chrnus' left Volt's mouth, Raguel's mood soured.

"If Aurelia... got rid of the nuisances that keep breaking my property, I will give my vote."

Raguel knew what this man was playing at; he planned to use her and Aurelia to get rid of Paladins, and afterwards, he would assert his will on a weakened crown.

Raguel placed her finger onto her forehead before speaking in an annoyed tone, "Do you think I was making a request?"

In Volt's eyes, Raguel gained a suffocating form, the golden light threatening to crush his soul.

"I am not here to negotiate, I am giving you a chance once the senate is gathered. Support or die." She leaned towards Duke, her expression that of fury.

Volt shrank back.

"Chruch of Chrunus will be dealt with by the Almighty Father, but you have a single chance to prove you are useful." She let silence settle for a moment, "You will show your support for the new queen if you wish to keep your role and life."

He felt like he would collapse, just as the wave of pressure appeared, it disappeared just as quickly.

He blinked and found the woman had disappeared, leaving only a summons letter.

He placed his hand onto his face before rubbing.

"Great, now I have to meet with that idiot of a princess... just my luck." He sighed before pocketing the letter.

It was not all bad, he needed to visit Valar anyway because of a summons from Duke Milan, but Aurelia would just be an additional obligation, which he disliked.

'I heard capital had captured some harpy demi-humans, perhaps I could enjoy myself in a pleasure house.' He chuckled.

It was almost impossible to find demihumans in Valar, but now it seemed that Grahm had been successful in his raid of Vitpacar.

'I wonder if I could procure one girl for myself.' He sighed, "I guess I have no choice but to make my way to Valar."

He stood up, stretching his old back, almost forgetting the panic he felt when the woman released her aura.

Almost.

***

"Tch... That damned idiot." She had a bitter feeling in her mouth from talking to someone as selfish and despicable as Volt.

The moment he had seen her, he wanted to use her and Aurelia to further his own goal.

Just as she thought nobility might deserve less harsh Judgement, they had proven her otherwise.

It was rather heartbreaking.

"Oh well... My mission is completed for now. Other houses are openly hostile and will be healthy with." She interlocked her fingers before stretching towards the sky.

She took a moment to gaze at the endless expanse that was this world, 'I wonder what Father is doing.'

She would need to visit other dukes, however, that could wait.

Despite Duke Volt being prone to resist, he did mention something that piqued Raguel's interest.

Paladins of Chrunus had harassed him for some reason unknown to her, reasons she did not care for.

She flapped her wings, raising herself far into the air, The so-called Paladins didn't make it that far; she could easily see them travelling towards somewhere.

No, calling them Paladins was to besmirch Father's name; they were merely a group of unbelievers pretending to be holy.

'Should I remove them from this world?' She tapped her chin. Fewer of these fools roamed the world, the better.

She flew towards the Paladins, arriving just above them in mere moments.

She knew this so-called 'god' was an enemy of Father and thus his followers were unworthy.

"30 'Paladins', the most efficient way to dispatch them is to judge them." She nodded before landing in front of the group of Paladins.

[Final Judgement], a simple activation of the skill created a scale in her hand and a blade in her other hand.

In her original form, it would not take such a shape, but in her shapeshifted appearance, it fit her role quite well.

The Paladins, as expected of trained soldiers prepared to fight immediately, their commander barking orders.

And yet no sound reached her.

The sky above them turned red, and thousands of anguished faces appeared around them.

Above and under, no world existed outside this place now.

All found themselves in purgatory.

Small blue orbs escaped their throats before rushing towards the scale.

Paladins never had a chance to fight, their souls ripped out to be weighed against their sins.

Not only that, shortly after, darkness within their hearts sat on the other side of the scale.

Raguel lifted the scale as a magnificent golden clock appeared behind her.

Tick.Tock.Tick.Tock...

[Final Judgement], the scale tipped into the dark; they were sinners, their misdeeds outweighing the purity of their souls.

The clock reached noon.

Their judgement was... Unfavorable.

With a single swing of her sword world returned to normal, and Paladins disappeared. Sent to hell for their sins, leaving nothing but their equipment behind.

There was no fight, no fear. Merely judgment.
