Chapter 297 - Now I’ve Really Become the God of Destruction’s Proxy

The handover of responsibilities went surprisingly smoothly. After Merus proposed that Zuke could take on the duties of destruction, Whis almost immediately agreed with a cheerful smile.

It was clear that Whis had been thinking this way from the start—since Zuke was going to eliminate Frieza, it made sense to hand over some of Frieza's responsibilities to Zuke.

Meanwhile, the prophetic fish floating in a fish tank nearby watched the entire collusion between the three and couldn't help but comment:

"Lord Beerus is still asleep, and you're just casually handing over the tasks he assigned to Frieza to someone else. Is that really okay?"

The prophetic fish was Beerus' pet and possessed a certain level of prophetic ability—it was also one of the few creatures who could speak disrespectfully to Beerus and Whis without facing any consequences.

"Lord Beerus will be asleep for decades anyway. Given Zuke's rapid growth in strength, eliminating Frieza might happen very soon."

Whis, being as carefree as ever, wasn't bothered by the prophetic fish's remarks.

"Isn't it better to find a proxy in advance rather than having no one to carry out the duties of destruction for decades after Frieza is eliminated?"

Hearing this, the prophetic fish also felt there was some logic to it—after all, it had prophesied that Beerus would continue sleeping for decades, so there shouldn't be any mistake.

"Besides, we angels can't arbitrarily interfere with the development of the universe. So even if Zuke is determined to eliminate Lord Beerus, I still can't stop him."

Whis continued to smile as he spoke, his words causing the prophetic fish to shiver involuntarily.

"If you think my approach is problematic, why don't you try stopping Zuke yourself?"

"…No, I'll pass."

The prophetic fish quickly retreated into its fish tank, deciding not to voice any further opinions.

While Whis and Beerus might tolerate its rudeness, Zuke might not be so forgiving—the prophetic fish could tell from Zuke's expression that if he were angered, he wouldn't hesitate to deal with it mercilessly.

After all, it was just a fish. Though it had prophetic abilities, it lacked any combat power and stood no chance against Zuke's wrath.

"Since no one has any objections, it's settled. After Zuke eliminates Frieza, he will take over Lord Beerus' duties of destroying planets."

After dismissing the prophetic fish, Whis made the final decision. In just a few sentences, he handed over Beerus' planetary destruction duties to Zuke.

Previously, Zuke had pretended to be an envoy of Beerus and Whis when dealing with the North Kai. Who would have thought that in just a few days, this imposter would become the real deal?

Of course, before that, Zuke still had to deal with Frieza. Otherwise, the current proxy for the God of Destruction would still be Frieza, not Zuke himself.

"Since you're now the proxy for the God of Destruction, I won't pursue the matter of you using the cube spaceship."

Looking at Zuke, Whis suddenly brought up the matter Zuke had accidentally revealed earlier, causing Zuke to awkwardly smile.

"However, that cube spaceship of yours must have been taken from Zuno, right? As far as I know, the only cube spaceship in Universe 7 belongs to Zuno."

Since cube spaceships were rarely given out, Whis immediately guessed where Zuke had obtained his.

"That's correct, but I've already helped change the ownership of the cube spaceship to Zuke," Merus chimed in with a smile—it seemed that after realizing Whis held no ill will toward Zuke, Merus had relaxed considerably.

Compared to violent groups like Frieza's, Merus clearly favored Zuke as the proxy for the God of Destruction. At the very least, Zuke didn't seem like the type to indiscriminately massacre the inhabitants of planets.

"Merus seems to have quite a high opinion of Zuke," Whis remarked thoughtfully, glancing at Merus before nodding.

"In that case, Merus, why don't you also help Zuke's cube spaceship gain the ability to travel between universes? I'm sure Zuke has a need for that, right?"

Hearing this, Zuke's heart skipped a beat—it seemed Whis had also guessed his intentions regarding the Super Dragon Balls.

However, it appeared that Whis didn't mind Zuke seeking the Super Dragon Balls, otherwise he wouldn't have suggested that Merus unlock the cube spaceship's inter-universe travel capabilities.

With this, Zuke would be able to leave Universe 7 and head to Universe 6 to search for the Super Dragon Balls.

And the wishes that Super Shenron could grant… were on a completely different level compared to Earth's Shenron, Namek's Shenron, or Cereal's Shenron. They weren't even in the same league.

The way Zamasu had used the Super Dragon Balls was nothing short of a waste.

"You suddenly looked so serious earlier, I thought something terrifying had happened. Turns out it was just this."

After being brought back to the Galactic Patrol headquarters by Merus, Zuke felt a weight lift off his shoulders.

When he first met Whis, he had been somewhat worried. After all, while Whis appeared amiable in *Dragon Ball Super*, that was just in the series. Who knew what he'd be like in reality?

But now it seemed that Whis' personality was no different from how he was portrayed in the series. Even without the temptation of food, Whis remained friendly.

"I also didn't expect Whis to seem so favorable toward Zuke… To be honest, I was quite nervous at first too."

Merus gave a wry smile. Although he was a trainee angel and should have been familiar with Whis, the two had actually met only a handful of times.

As a trainee angel, Merus had been wandering the universe, and after joining the Galactic Patrol, he had devoted himself entirely to maintaining cosmic peace—hardly behaving like an angel.

Fortunately, his actions hadn't violated the rules of the angel race, so Whis didn't seem to have any issues with him. He only gave some instructions regarding Zuke and Frieza.

"By the way, Whis also asked me to help grant your cube spaceship the ability to travel between universes."

Merus suddenly recalled the task Whis had assigned him and smiled at Zuke.

"With this, Zuke will be able to travel to Universe 6… I assume your goal is the Super Dragon Balls, right?"

Zuke wasn't surprised that Merus had guessed his intentions and simply nodded.

He had already obtained the coordinates of the Super Dragon Balls from Zuno. The only thing missing was a way to travel to Universe 6.

And now, Merus could grant his cube spaceship that capability.

With this in mind, Zuke made a decision.

Originally, he had planned to wait for Bardock to gather all the Saiyans. But now, he would use this waiting period productively.

He would go and collect all the Super Dragon Balls!

To be continued…
