Despite Elvessa's protest, Eros ordered his advisor to bring the jewel in. Silas nodded and summoned Heron, the palace's butler, who quickly went to the treasury to retrieve the Forever Flame.
A few moments later, Silas returned with Heron, who carried a rectangular wooden box draped in a purple silk cloth. After bowing and greeting the king, Heron respectfully handed the box over.
Eros accepted the box and gestured for Mirabella to step forward. Only after receiving a subtle nod from Gideon did Mirabella approach.
Receiving the wooden box from the king, Mirabella gently removed the silk cloth covering it. As her eyes fell upon the necklace inside, they widened in wonder.
For something called the Forever Flame, it didn't look like a bright flame at all. Instead, the gem at the center was a dull amber, cradled by two delicate hawk wings curving from either side. It resembled more a locket than a necklace, beautiful, understated, and elegant.
