"Sorry that you have to pay for me like this..." Shika said and trailed off, he was a little embarrassed for not being able to pay for himself.
"Haha...don't worry about it. I was the same the first time I came here." Came the reply as the girl in front of him as she pushed some more food towards him, indicating that he could take more if he wanted.
Shika's though was contained with what he had, he was really glad that he met this kind soul by chance.
"So, you are new to Tokyo. Are you from the countryside?" She asked with a shine on her face and mischievous glint which Shika couldn't pinpoint.
"Ah, yeah, just came today..." Shika replied as he took another bite of the tasty cake she so graciously bought for him.
At first, he thought that he was being followed by someone but it turned out that it was this girl, or maybe she happened to meet him while the real stalker got away. Shika wasn't sure but he knew that he was lucky to meet her or he would have still biting on his tasteless ninja pills and hunting for information.
Thanks to her, now he knew where he was, currently was 2016, soon to be 2017 in this world. This was a little strange seeing how in his previous world he died in 2023. But who cares, what year it is doesn't matter as much as what world he was in.
Part of him wanted to book a flight and go to his previous home, just to know whether he was back to the earth he left but he knew better. The system would have especially told him that he was back if that were the case.
For now, finding which world he was in was far more important for Shika than wasting time on his fantasies.
"Really, I almost thought that are a cosplayer you know. The way you pull off Shikamaru's look is breathtaking..." She replied and Shika almost choked on his food.
So this was the reason why everyone he saw in the city was giving him those glances while some even came to take a selfy with him when he was roaming aimlessly.
This world had anime, this was Japan and Naruto existed in this world. Sigh...
And guess what who he looks like, Shikamaru Nara. Even in his non-shinobi outfit, he was looking almost at the carbon copy of Shikamaru. Only one more year and they will realize that it's not Shika who I look like but Shikadai. It's 2016 after all, Boruto has yet to air on TV
Sigh, good times don't last long ...
"Ah thanks, I'm really a fan of Shikamaru...hahaha..." Shika awkwardly laughed, wanting to change the topic.
"So why do you help me, you know you got no reason to right ?"
"Just felt like it..." She replied, but there was something more in her tone than just nonchalantly.
"I'm also a big Naruto Fan you see..." She grinned and pointed at herself.
"Ah, is that something to do with your name being Izumi ?" Shika smiled back, though the time didn't match for her parents to name her after a Naruto character but he found this way too coincidental especially the way she looks.
"Nope, I'm natural..." She said and haughtily pushed back her long hair but soon broke out with a smile and went back to her coffee.
'Now that thing about it, she really does look like Izumi Uchiha. She even got that mole under her right eye...' Shika shouted that if she ever went the cosplaying route then she could nail her role.
If in future there is ever a good Naruto live adaptation, then they have one perfect cast right here...
Soon the snack time was over and now was time to say bye to the new friend he made. She was a sweet girl. She was much older than him, in her early twenties but still, they made a good friend, temporary as it may be.
"Here take some money. It's enough that you can survive until he gets a job here." She took out some money and handed it over, now this was way too nice of her or there were other motives.
Shika wanted to deny but the girl made a pouty face and instead of him taking the money. So he just did that. After that, he got ready to continue his city tour and world exploration.
'Do I really look like someone who's hunting for a job ?'

Soon the evening came and Shika was getting tired, after hours of searching he couldn't find anything special about this place. He looked almost everywhere but there was nothing.
After one point he started to recall any and all Anime he was aware of with the modern Japan setting. Since he was in Japan it could be that he was in yet another anime world right?
However, even then it was hard to pinpoint where he was until he felt a malicious feeling when he came across a school.
By the time of evening, there shouldn't be anyone in the school and yet his senses were telling him that there was something dangerous in there.
"Strange...'" He muttered to himself, this was the first time he was feeling like this, it was a strange feeling which he had a hard time putting his finger on. He hadn't felt like this before but this feeling wasn't completely new either.
'It's like the malicious chakra of a Biju, just not that strong. Anyone who is not even a sensor could sense that malice from far away. This was very similar to that...' Shika paused and then changed his direction, he was looking for a cheap hotel stay for the time being but now he gonna check out what was going on in that school.
As he entered the school, the atmosphere felt heavy, almost suffocating. The hallways were eerily silent, though it was kinda understandable seeing it was school's off time.
Moving cautiously, Shika ventured further in following his gut feeling that he felt that malicious feeling. Usually, he would care too much about this, as this was too much of a drag for him to go out of his way to do community service and be a good citizen but currently, he was looking for any clue which could tell him which world he was in and this might just help him in that.
He turned a corner and came face-to-face with grotesque creatures—twisted beings with warped bodies and soulless eyes. They snarled and lunged toward him without warning.
"Fuck..." Shika was taken aback seeing those scary-looking monsters rushing at him to even move. In Shinobi world mostly the enemies are humans but this... this were monsters. Took him by surprise. Good for him, his divine dog leapt out of his shadow, growling fiercely as they charged at the monsters. The monsters put up a fight, but they were no match for the divine dog and within seconds, the 2 monsters were torn apart, dissipating into the air like smoke.
Only then that Shika realise that they might look dangerous and creepy but they were weak, his dog in his base form was able to take them down.
"That almost creeped me out... sigh. Thanks." Shika muttered, a little embarrassed for losing this cool like that, this place looked a lot more like one of those haunted movie sets and maybe that's why his nerves were tense.
Thanking his dog he moved on, his dog going back to his shadow.
Still, the malicious feeling lingered. Shika frowned. "That wasn't it," he muttered. He pressed forward, his hand resting on a kunai, ready for whatever might appear next.
Finally, he reached a classroom, the malicious feeling here was the strongest but there was more, he could smell something familiar, it was blood. His dog almost immediately picked it up but he only got it now when he got closer to this particular classroom. The door creaked as he slid it open. Inside, the sight made him pause. Blood pooled on the floor, its metallic scent filling the air. Desks were overturned, and the windows were shattered.
Shika was flustered, blood and dead bodies were ingrained into him by now. At least he knew that this thing was natural. Unlike those monsters, he saw earlier.
At first, he thought that they were ghosts but even his dog could beat them so he doubted that. And as long as they weren't ghosts and he could beat them, he wasn't afraid.
In the corner of the room sat a boy, his head bowed low, his body trembling. His uniform was stained with blood, though Shika couldn't tell if it was his.
In normal cases, Shika might wanna help the boy who was almost his age but right now he was too overwhelmed. The reason is because he felt that malicious energy from this boy...
It was strong enough that it almost froze Shika. Sweat started to appear on his head, there was something seriously wrong here, and he could feel it.
"Hey..." he called the boy, though he was on his guard. He didn't like this feeling.
The boy didn't respond, his shoulders shaking. Shika clenched his fists, readying himself.
"What happened here?" he asked again, more forcefully this time.
The boy slowly raised his head, looking at Shika with hollow eyes and said. "Don't come here... run away...
Please, don't do it..."
"Stop Rika...
