Chapter 117 - Righteous Flames

"Okay, everyone here knows how to throw a punch, right? 'Cause I don't have time for lessons."~ Sett, The Boss

Late chapter. Assignments.

I decided to have Galio be less of a fully sentient creature and more of a half-baked sentient creature. Trust me the fucker has no good voice lines.

There is quite a few things I will address next chapter for the AN so look out for it.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Gregori struggled to rise to his feet. "What happened?" He grunted, hoping to get an answer out of Caalyx.

"Your battle just got harder." Caalyx spoke softly. His voice was almost defeated, like as if this was the end to Gregori's future.

"Why?" Gregori asked as he pushed himself up but his hands remained on his knees for support.

Caalyx vibrated. "A worse enemy has set its eyes on you."

"Stop speaking in riddles and give it to me straight you bastard." Gregori pushed out as he watched Joraal struggle to rise.

"An Aspect is headed your way." Caalyx answered, his tone serious. "One of the stronger ones."

Gregori's heart fell at those words.

Galio rose to his feet as if there was no pressure on him.

"The statue is unaffected....." Caalyx remarked.

WHOOOOSH

Tilting his head toward the sky, Gregori spotted her.

A woman. Her white wings flapping above him as she watched. Judged. White and gold armor adorned her. A helm covered her facial features as well. Except for her eyes. They were glowing. Almost as if they were alight with flames with only one goal, to see him extinguished. In her right hand lay a sword that was an ethereal blue.

"Mages! I loooove the way they squish!" Galio stepped forward raising his feet to stomp down on Joraal.

Caalyx snorted at the comment, "The statue is funny!"

"The situation isn't." Gregori returned. His attention shifting toward the Aspect. "What is an Aspect doing here in Demacia? Weren't they all at the top of Targon?"

Aspects.

Beings not too different from Darkin. But their existence was more... godly.

Aspects were beings from beyond this plane of existence. They belonged to the land of creation. The endless vast space. Each aspect represented something. Quite alike the demons. And like the Darkin..... they needed hosts to affect the world.

Stellar Beings of the celestial realm that descended upon the world through hosts. Hosts that were selected through the completion of an impossible task.

The single hardest task to ever be created.

A task that claimed the life of thousands upon thousands.

The task of climbing Mount Targon.

Ascending to the top grants you an audience with these beings. One of which might bless you with the divine right of being their host.

There were only a handful of them and their hosts were effectively immortal.

Effectively as there were those on the plants that could kill them. But those were only a few.

The Aspects themselves had affected the natural course of history plenty of times. They have given their aid and requested nothing in return for it.

Their actions from the shadows have shaped the foundation of the world itself.

But that did not make them benevolent.

No.

They were just as bad as the demons. Just as bad as the Darkin.

Their actions in this realm were only for entertainment. To see how much they could affect using their godly domains.

Their hosts were forced to watched from the confines of their mind as their body was used to play around with the lives of countless mortals.

"Don't know. Haven't seen this one." Caalyx replied. "Wait.... no... this isn't a full Aspect. It have the powers of one but it is not complete. There is a distinct lack of pressure from this one." The urgent tone from Caalyx slowly faded.

Gregori was shocked, "Distinct lack?" This was it lacking?

Caalyx scoffed. "You don't have the completed spear.... Of course you'll feel crushed under the pressure."

BAANGG

Dust rose from the stomp.

"Would that be enough to turn him back?" Gregori asked as he watched Galio land the stomp.

The gem on the shield lost its glow.

"That would be a yes." Caalyx answered. "Now stop the statue from murdering the boy."

FWWOOOOOOOOOO

A fire erupted from his shoulders.

It began to condense slowly shifting to blue.

FWEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

BOOOOOM

Gregori shoulder slammed Galio and sending the colossal statue tumbling to the ground. His eyes fell on the rapidly shrinking body of the Darkin.

"STOP RIGHT THERE FOUL DARKIN!" An authoritative voice called from above.

He ignored the voice and reached down to pick up the child. "Is he alive?"

"Yes." Caalyx replied as he sent a little bit of magic into the boy. "Very much so. Unconscious? Yes. Tired? Incredibly. But above all.... he is alive."

PHHEWWWW

Bringing one palm over the other to cover the child, Gregori jumped to the side.

BOOOOM

The ground he had just stood on had melted down. The air around it shimmered from the heat and smoke rose from the grass.

"I do not want to fight." Gregori spoke to the part Aspect. "My goal was to save the life of this child from corruption." He showed the boy to the flying woman. "I have done so.... and I will leave."

"You are a Darkin." Her regal voice echoed. "Paragons of injustice." Her sword rose, " I show no mercy to your kind."

"Tell her these words Gregori...." Caalyx spoke into his mind.

Gregori raised his free hand summoning his shield back to him. "You are compelled to follow the pact between me and the Aspect of Twilight." His repetition of Caalyx's words made the woman's blade drop for a second.

"FOR DEMACIA!"

Thumping of large feet in his direction had Gregori turn to face the dashing statue.

Looking at the statue's face, Gregori felt an unexplainable sense of anger fill him. He had been holding back subconsciously whenever he hit the statue. He did not want to break one of Demacia's most ancient statues. And he did not want to break the statue under which he had cried about his familial situations many-a-time.

But this creature was just pissing him off.

He took a step back and dodged the incoming tackle. In the same motion, he raised his shield and slammed it into the back of the statue so hard that cracks spread through the back.

BOOOOM

The ground shook as Galio's form was imprinted into the ground.

If magic didn't affect the Petricitethe statue was made of..... It could just be used to amplify his blows.

In that moment, Gregori had used his magic to pull his shield and the arm moving it to the ground as hard as possible. Galio's position in between the shield and the ground led to the devastating attack.

At some point in his movement, the pressure affecting him had lessened.

Not like it had faded away but rather he had gotten used to it. The perks of a Darkin body.

"The moment justice bends....."

Gregori looked upward at the woman.

Her sword rose back, the hesitation from his earlier words disappeared as she pointed the weapon at Gregori, "It breaks..."

She swung her sword, sending a flaming slash at him.

His shield shot up in response to the attack.

BOOOOOM

An explosion shook his shield but he did not let up. The child was still in his other hand. And as long as he was there..... Gregori would have to be on the back foot.

"Caalyx?" Gregori asked as a thought occurred. "Aspects are magical as well right?"

"Yes."

He smirked as he waved his shield from the sky to the ground.

The woman in the sky halted before slamming into the ground, her body pressed down into the ground.

"Quick thinking." Caalyx spoke almost impressed.

Gregori grunted. Turning around he moved toward the other weapons. The spear and the aegis.

But as he reached for them a wave of heat passed through him.

She hadn't given up yet.

A quick look behind showed the woman rise to her feet, pushing through the magic pulling her downward.

"On wings of fire, hope ascends!" She chanted.

With the chant, she was enveloped in a glow. It was white at first but then took on an orange hue.

Her body rose to the sky as she raised her sword. It shifted from blue to gold. As if holding back the flames with itself. Another pair of wings emerged from her back.

"She is growing more powerful...." Caalyx commented. "Has she sealed her own powers?"

"Is she an Aspect or not?" Gregori asked as he raised the aegis and spear in front of him with magic.

Caalyx shook in front of him, "I do not know.... but she is almost celestial in nature."

Gregori's eyes widened as an old memory hit him. One were his caretaker had read an old story to him. A story of two sisters.

"This isn't any random Aspect Caalyx." Gregori exclaimed. "This is the Winged Protector. One of the sisters." His voice was almost reverent. "There are legends of them. Of her."

Caalyx relied almost carelessly. "Never heard of her."

Without hesitation, she swung her sword again. Instead of using his own shield to block the blow, Gregori moved the aegis in front of the attack.

If Joraal wanted to protect everything so bad... it could do so.

He raised his hand, if she did not want to listen to him. Then he wouldn't need to hold back either.

His spear started to spin near him. He was preparing to launch it at her.

"She won't escape unscathed from that." Caalyx commented.

Gregori shrugged, "If the legends hold any truth to them..... we cannot let her ascend further. Eventually, she would overpower us."

"Hmm.... Fascinating!" Caalyx replied enthusiastically. "Why didn't you tell me these kind of legends previously you moron? They seem very fun."

Just as he was about to release the spear at her, black ethereal magical chains rose from the ground and wrapped themselves around the Aspect.

"Sister." A calm voice sounded from beside him. "Let us not involve ourselves in the affairs of mortals."

"THIS IS A DARKIN!" The Aspect yelled.

Gregori turned to face the newcomer. He almost gasped as he took in the features of the woman. Black hair. Purple gown. Wings that her chained to herself. Her hand raised in the direction of her sister.

The Pale Lady.

"This Darkin...." She spoke softly. "Is an ally."
