All the strength in her body seemed to drain away. Her legs went weak, and she nearly collapsed, but at that moment, someone supported her from behind.
In that instant, her heartstrings tightened for a moment.
She thought it would be him.
But when she turned her head, it was Arthur Baker.
Her heart sank instantly. Disappointment crept onto her face, and her gaze dimmed.
It wasn't him.
It wasn't Ryan Gregory...
She withdrew her hand and stepped back a few paces, distant. "Why are you here?"
"I came to check on you."
Arthur looked at her pale face, and it unsettled him deeply.
In the company, she was like a machine, working day and night.
How could someone not fall ill living like this?
But all he could do was watch helplessly. He didn't even have the chance to talk to her alone.
Other than seeing her in the meeting room or receiving a report, those were the only times she would take a moment to hear him out.
