Chapter 5 - Chapter 5

---------------------------------------------------------------------

(Turian Patrol Fleet)

Captain Solana Valkarian was in command of THS Vargos. After years of service, she had been given command of a patrol fleet on the borders of citadel space.

"Madam, we are receiving a distress signal." A technician runs into the command center.

"Do we have any identification for the ship." Solana asked.

"No ma'am". Another Ensign reported. "Your orders, Captain"

Solana had been craving some action. They had been moving along the designated path from months with no action. The monotony was getting to her as well as her crew.

"Approach the signal source with caution, I want a wide spread parameter."

(After a few hours)

"Just my luck no action or chance to stretch my limbs, just more paperwork and reports." Solana Valkarian said with an exasperated sigh.

The turian fleet had reached the signal source and found a damaged Bartarian ships. That had sent alarms throughout the scouting fleet. A message was sent to Palaven. After further investigation, it had been found out that the communication array had been damaged. They had found no sign of an ambush. After much deliberation, she had led a platoon of her marines into the ship.

What they had found was a Quarian in command of the ship and a bunch of traumatized civilians. Did she forget to mention the stories of an angry spirit. A Quarian that had led a rebellion against their slavers. Well that was certainly unique. As the message was sent to the citadel. They had settled down and begun taking testimonies from the survivors. At that point, the story began much stranger. A human biotic tearing the ship apart with raw biotics. That was acceptable. What was not acceptable were the tales of a white haired boy with toxic green eyes that could move through objects. The aforementioned angry spirit.

She would have taken that as a delusion brought about by starvation, had not so many of the same testimonies come in. What damned it was the testimonies from the slavers. A report had been made and sent to the higher ups. She and her crew had been made to sign Non Disclosure Agreements. Earth did not have the technologies to create such a soldier or they would have had extensive reports of it. Of that fact, she had no doubt. It would probably be covered up and swept under the rug.

More ships with aid had arrived and the liberated prisoners had been sent to the nearest planets to be processed. She had already given in her recommendation to hire Kenn. The quarian who had been holding the ship together until help arrived. She had heard rumors that the council is interested in withdrawing the orders for the exile of the Quarians. It had been a few centuries and there were plans to help the Quarian settle another planet. Only a change in public opinion was necessary, and this Kenn may prove to be the catalyst for such a change. There was already a failed attempt by making the movie Fleet and Flotilla which was sponsored by the Council.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Danny was right now in processing. Originally, he was supposed to go to Midnoir. However, Alessa had gone on vidcall and returned. It had been agreed and Dany had been given no chance to interject. He had been taken to the doctor and had been given a bunch of vaccines. Amusingly, the needles had increased the apprehension in his heart. It was fortunate that ClockWork had worked with him to make a gene locker such that his human blood will not display parts of his ghost DNA. This had come around after Vlad's attempts to clone him. He still had to make sure that with in ghost form he does not leave any sort of DNA behind. Any attempt to clone him would be disastrous.

Danny originally wanted to live alone but even he had to admit that there would be many things that he would not be able to explain. The threat that Clockwork was talking to him about was still unknown to him. He would have to establish himself and ascertain the nature of the threat.

Primarily, he was worried about his lodgings and was not sure what to do to earn a living. He had plans to sell some of his technology as he was certain that they could be considered as vintage and any collector would pay a heavy price for them.

"Mr Fenton, you are not upto date on any of your vaccinations. Going through your entire medical report, you have not undergone any type of gene therapy which would have been disasterous if you had any genetic disease. We can detect multiple signs of wounds being treated haphazardly. I must insist on speaking to your family or doctor."

Alessa behind the doctor was signaling him to stop the questioning.

"Sorry, we used to live in a very isolated community. Mostly, we used old class technology." Danny answered.

Seeing the Salarian Doctor raise an eyebrow. Danny took out a PDA and showed it to him.

The salarian doctor took it and began to fumble around with it, giving it back to Danny. He asked him, "Can you open it for me?"

Danny pressed a button to turn it on, the doctor began to play with it, "Fascinating".

Handing the phone back to Danny, the doctor said, "That certainly explains that. They still need a strict talking to. You should not compromise the health of your child..."

Alessa quickly interjects, "Doctor, Danny was on the liberated slaver ship."

Understanding the implications of that, the doctor turned to danny, "I am so sorry young man. Don't worry, you are still 14. You still have your whole life before you. Try to make them proud."

Danny at the moment was still feeling very awkward. How does he go explain to everyone that his parents were still alive just not in this universe.

"All the procedures together will cost 3632 credits including the underage discount. This will also include a neural interface. You don't have potential for Biotics so we are clear on that front. We can set up an account for you, so you may start paying after you come of age."

"There would be no need for that doctor. I intend to act as his guardian, I will pay the entire amount", Alessa said.

"Mr.Fenton, please Follow me. We are going to start the procedure. This should take about an hour."

"Don't worry, the doctor wont hurt you much." Alessa said cheekily from the back.

-----------------------------------------------------------------

After an hour, Danny was still holding his behind. No matter what the time, why do doctors have a fascination with injecting him in the bottom. He was told that this was done because he was young. But he was pretty sure that he saw the nurses giggling.

Clockwork had told Danny that he would age very slowly. He was worried how he would explain that to Alessa when after 2 to 4 years he would still look 14. Nope, he will figure it out when it happens. He has always lived one day at a time and that has served him well till now.

Danny after the examination was on a shuttle bound for Thessia. Danny tired had fallen asleep.

Alessa was on vidcall.

"Alessa, are you feeling better".

"Yeah". Alessa replied.

"I asked you not to agree to the assignment. I told you that Human presence in the skyllian verge would result in a conflict. That was the intention of the council as well." After a long sigh, the speaker said in a quiet voice, "I am just glad you are alive, Alessa. I don't know what I would have done if something happened to you."

"Sorry", Alessa said.

"Its alright. As long as you are alive." She said as she began to drink some water.

"I do have some news Arianna. Congratulations, we are gonna have another child." Alessa said.

Arianna did a spit take. It took her a moment to process that ."Why was I not informed about this before. If I knew, I would never have allowed you to leave."

"Well, it's a boy."

"Pardon me." Arianna said doing a spit take.

"I may have adopted a human boy." Alessa said. A hand at the back of her neck.

"You do know that humans have a lower lifespan compared to us. He would die in a century." Arianna said.

"He was alone in the cargo hold with me. He has no family remaining. I already talked with great grandmother. She has already agreed. And get this, he has the same last name as us. If this is not fate then what is."

"What about our daughter, Nassesda. Are you gonna tell her?" Arianna said. She would never admit it out loud but her daughter was going through her rebellious phase. And in her anger she used Biotics unintentionally. She had alot of potential but the smallest things set her off.

"Lets just suprise her. Okay." Alessa said.

"Maybe, thats for the best. So tell me everything about what Danny. Atleast we won't have to change his last name. Before I forget, The matriarch would want a full report on the individual who freed you. The spirit of freedom." She said while rolling her eyes.

"I was already informed about that. So we met in the cargo hold while he was helping with maintenance ......(And so the entire tale was told)"
