*Chapter 3: The Company*
I sat in my office, surrounded by the familiar sights and sounds of my family's company. Sophia had told me that I was the CEO, but I had no memory of it. I looked around, trying to get a sense of the business.
The phone on my desk rang, and my assistant answered it. "Clementine, it's a call from one of our major clients," she said.
I took a deep breath and picked up the phone. "Hello, this is Clementine," I said, trying to sound confident.
The client on the other end was friendly and discussed some business matters. I listened attentively, trying to understand the context. As we talked, I realized that the company was in a precarious position. We were facing financial difficulties, and some of our major clients were considering leaving.
After the call, I turned to Sophia. "What's going on with the company?" I asked. "We're facing some serious financial challenges."
Sophia nodded. "Yes, it's been a struggle. Rachel's actions haven't helped. She's been making some questionable decisions, and it's impacted the company's reputation."
I frowned, feeling a sense of unease. "I need to know more about what's going on," I said. "Can you get me up to speed on the company's finances and operations?"
Sophia nodded. "I'll get the reports for you," she said. "But you need to be careful, Clementine. Rachel's not going to give up without a fight."
I nodded, determination rising within me. I would do whatever it took to save the company and restore its reputation
