Chapter 3 - Weiyang 2.0

Elara stood before the Lagrange Gate in Hub City, gazing at the brilliance of the stargate network. This city was the transportation nexus of the galaxy, with gates weaving connections across countless star systems. She took a deep breath, preparing for the upcoming negotiations—negotiations that would determine the future cooperation between the Nova Alliance and the Antonios Consortium, laying the foundation for stability within the Lagrange Network.

The negotiation was held in a high-end conference room in Hub City. Outside the window, stars twinkled and ships zipped by, while inside, a massive circular table dominated the space. Elara wore the uniform of the Nova Alliance, her gaze steady, exuding confidence and authority. Across from her sat Marcus, the chief negotiator of the Antonios Consortium—a strategic mastermind nearing fifty. He smiled warmly, but his eyes were sharp as knives, his words laced with probing and calculation. The aides of both sides lined up on either side, the atmosphere solemn yet tinged with tension.

The negotiation began with polite greetings. Elara spoke first, her voice calm and resolute: "Esteemed representatives of the Antonios Consortium, the Nova Alliance values opportunities for peace and development. We hope to establish trust through the 'Uncrowned 2.0 Agreement' and work together to address the challenges of the Lagrange Network." Marcus nodded slightly, replying, "Ms. Elara, the consortium also places great importance on this agreement. We look forward to a fair and lasting partnership, provided the interests of both parties are safeguarded." Though their opening remarks seemed harmonious, they subtly planted seeds of contention.

The discussion then moved to specific terms. Elara presented the core demands of the Nova Alliance: unrestricted passage rights through the Lagrange Gates, enabling swift mobilization of resources and fleets within the hub system; and the establishment of a neutral zone around the hub system where military actions would be prohibited, symbolizing peace and serving as a buffer. Marcus listened attentively and expressed agreement but quickly added the consortium's conditions: the Nova Alliance must provide energy crystals and technical support under certain circumstances in exchange for passage rights; disputes should be resolved by an arbitration panel led by the consortium rather than jointly appointed by both sides. Elara keenly noticed the hidden traps in these conditions, especially the potential for the arbitration panel to give the consortium dominant control. She noted these points, preparing to counter them in the next phase.

The negotiation soon reached a fever pitch. Marcus pressed on the resource-sharing clause: "Ms. Elara, the consortium has invested heavily in maintaining the Lagrange Network. If the Nova Alliance cannot offer corresponding support, the value of passage rights will diminish significantly." Elara remained unyielding, countering, "Mr. Marcus, free passage is the cornerstone of peace, not a bargaining chip. If the consortium uses it as leverage, the Nova Alliance's interests will suffer, rendering this agreement meaningless." The exchange grew increasingly tense, with neither side backing down. Just as the deadlock persisted, an urgent alarm shattered the silence—an unknown fleet had attacked an energy station near the Lagrange Gate at the edge of the hub system. The meeting was abruptly halted, and Elara and Marcus quickly reached a temporary consensus to jointly address the crisis.

During the crisis response, Elara commanded the Nova Alliance fleet to stabilize the situation, while Marcus mobilized the consortium's technical teams to repair the energy station. Their collaboration demonstrated remarkable synergy, building trust that would aid subsequent negotiations. After the crisis subsided, the talks resumed. Seizing the opportunity, Elara proposed a compromise: resource sharing would be limited to emergencies and require mutual consent; dispute resolution mechanisms would involve a neutral third party to ensure fairness. Marcus pondered for a moment, recognizing Elara's resilience and wisdom, and finally nodded in agreement.

After hours of intense back-and-forth, all terms were finalized. The "Uncrowned 2.0 Agreement" was officially signed at the round table, with Elara and Marcus signing on behalf of their respective factions. Following the signing ceremony, Marcus, rarely sincere, offered a genuine smile and said to Elara, "You are a worthy opponent and a reliable ally." Elara returned the smile, replying, "Peace requires strong hands working together, Mr. Marcus."

After the agreement was signed, Elara once again stood before the Lagrange Gate in Hub City, gazing into the distant sea of stars. She took a deep breath and stepped into the gate, enveloped instantly by its radiant energy. The familiar hum faded, and moments later, she arrived in the Cygnus 0476 star system. New challenges and adventures awaited her, but the "Uncrowned 2.0 Agreement" served as a solid foundation behind her, igniting new hope for the future of the galaxy.
