The machine whirred softly. The room went quiet. Then- BEEP. A red light. Professor Daniel frowned at the screen, looking almost... confused. "Well," he said, double-checking, "your compatibility is 0.1%." A few people chuckled under their breath. "As expected," someone whispered. The professor exhaled. "That's the lowest I've ever recorded." I blinked. 0.1%? (Updates every Saturday's )

Chapter 1 - chapter 1

Ciro P.O.V

As tradition demanded, the university hosted its annual orientation ceremony,a formal welcome for both returning students and fresh faces stepping into the new academic year.

The institution, nearly two centuries old, was known not just for its age but for its unwavering dedication to tradition. It took pride in being one of the first elite universities to open its doors to both omegas and alphas, a legacy that still sets it apart today.

As the class president of my respective class, it was my duty to deliver a speech. I had dressed carefully for the occasion; not too formal and not too casual.

I sat in the first row of the assembly hall, letting my gaze sweep across the room. The rows were divided with alphas, betas, and omegas, each sticking to their own. Some students huddled together in hushed conversation, catching up on summer gossip, while others sat beside their partners, whispering about their plans for the year.

A familiar voice pulled me from my thoughts.

"Ciro!"

I turned just in time to see Jacob drop into the seat beside me. His golden curls bounced as he grinned, his excitement practically vibrating off him. "Did you miss me?"

I raised an eyebrow. "Jacob, I saw you last week."

He waved off my response with a dramatic sigh. "Yes, yes, but you definitely missed out on so much, Ciro!" His eyes sparkled with mischief.

I smiled. "Oh? Then enlighten me."

Jacob leaned in closer, lowering his voice. "Apparently, Meeka had her heart broken over the summer."

My ears perked up. "Meeka? As in Meeka Meeka? The one who wouldn't stop bragging about finding 'the one'?"

Jacob nodded solemnly. "The very same. And you won't believe this, his so-called soulmate? The one she was talking about marriage with?"

I frowned. "Don't tell me..."

Jacob smirked. "It's rumored to be the class president from A12."

I scoffed. " Of course it was him. What did she saw in him"

Very typical.

I glanced toward the stage just as the class president of A12 stepped forward, his presence commanding attention.

He stood tall, his posture flawless, knowing he was superior Alpha. His attire was crisp, his expression unreadable. When he spoke, his voice carried through the hall, even and composed, the kind that made people listen.

I disliked him.

Not just because of his polished, perfect image. No, my dislike for him ran deeper, years of rivalry, years of clashing over every damn thing the university threw at us. And now, here he was again, standing at the podium, acting as if he was the rightful leader of this school.

I yawned, loud enough for Jacob to snicker beside me, and clapped lazily when his speech ended.

Then, it was my turn.

I stood, adjusting my jacket before striding toward the stage, my steps deliberate, my confidence unwavering. My lips curled into a practiced smile as I took my place before the crowd.

"Good morning, everyone." My voice rang out, smooth and sure. "Welcome back to another year at the university. I hope your summer was wonderful."

I let my gaze flicker toward the other class president for the briefest moment. Then, with a charming smirk, I continued.

"Let's make this year unforgettable."

With my speech concluded, the principal took the stage to address the students, signaling the end of orientation.

As the semester began, it was time to move back into the dorms. My parents assisted with unpacking and settling in, their presence made the transition smooth. As grateful as ever, I sent them off with a smile, relishing the freedom that came with returning to university life.

Back in my dorm, I found Jacob had already settled in. Since we were close friends, it was natural that we shared a room. He wasn't there when I arrived, so I assumed he was still out.

Exhausted from the long day, I collapsed onto my bed, barely sparing a thought for the early lecture waiting for me tomorrow. Sleep claimed me quickly.

Before the sun had fully risen, I was already awake.

It was a habit ingrained in me since my early teenage years. The belief that the early bird catches the worm. After brushing my teeth and showering, I returned to my room quietly. Jacob was still sound asleep, soft snores filling the room.

I felt sluggish, so I decided to take a morning stroll, hoping it would energize me before class. Throwing on casual wear, I stepped outside, surprisingly eager for the fresh air.

I must have walked for about twenty minutes when the first hints of sunlight stretched across the sky. Along the way, I greeted the few students I passed, a polite smile on my face. The cool morning air mixed with the soft scent of flowers as I reached the university garden, where dewdrops clung to vibrant petals.

I slowed my pace, deciding to turn back once I passed the pond up ahead.

However, just as I reached my stopping point, I heard faint noises in the distance.

Turning towards the commotion, I spotted something..no someone and they were running. But what really caught my attention was what they were chasing.

A dog.

A very fast dog at that .

My steps hesitated as I observed the situation. The dog seemed to be running away from its owner, darting across the grass in my direction. And, as fate would have it, the person chasing after it looked vaguely familiar.

I frowned, finding the whole thing somewhat amusing

until I realized one very crucial detail.

The dog wasn't just running in my direction.

It was running directly towards me.

My amusement vanished. I wasn't scared of dogs, but I was certainly wary of them. They had teeth, after all. Teeth that could bite me.

I slowed my steps as the barking grew louder. The dog was closing the distance fast, and I could feel the hair on my arms standing up in alarm.

Panic kicked in.

It's going to run right past me, right?

My brain screamed at me to move, but instead, I instinctively stepped backward to only realize that I was too late and that I was edging dangerously close to the pond.

The dog barreled forward, and my balance wavered.

And just like that

I fell.

A startled yelp escaped from me as I splashed into the cold water. The dog skidded to a stop at the pond's edge, tilting its head curiously.

The person chasing after it finally caught up, panting as they called out

"Polo!"

I resurfaced, coughing, as water dripped from my soaked clothes and hair.

And just like that, my peaceful morning took a turn for the absolute worst.
