Chapter 6 - Climbing The Tower

[Location: Lumiere Guild Building, Mavone's Street Av.265, Amsterdam]

A young woman in formal attire sat behind her desk, typing furiously into her laptop. She was so absorbed in her work that she didn't even notice when the door creaked open and a lanky young man sauntered in.

Wearing a white-and-black tank top and bright red pants, Milo disconnected his headset, letting his music blare through the room.

The woman, Emma, snapped her head up in annoyance. Milo quickly turned off the music with an apologetic grin.

Milo: "Hey Emma, I can see you're loving your new life," he teased, flashing a smile. "Have you seen the latest news? There's a new S-rank player in the country. I was thinking... maybe we could scout him? Y'know, bring some order to our disorganized guild?"

Emma's eyes glowed yellow. A golden aura flowed to her hand, and with a mere flick of her finger, cracks began to spiderweb across the wall.

Milo: "Hey, chillax! I was just joking! Besides, you're doing a great job as Guildmistress." He laughed nervously. "I just thought another S-rank would bolster our ranks."

Emma:[Sighs heavily.] "Milo, if you don't stop talking this instant, I swear I'll snap your neck."

She tugged at the collar of her shirt in frustration. "And do I always have to wear these tight, uncomfortable clothes?"

Milo:[Scanning her with a smirk.] "Of course! A guild leader must always look presentable."

Emma:[Covering her chest.] "Milo! Stop staring, you pervert! What's the name of this new S-rank?"

Milo: "Apparently, he's called Ryan Herman."

Emma's eyes narrowed thoughtfully.

Emma: "Herman... Wait, that's it! The Association Chairman's son-in-law!"

[Pause.]

"Milo, check the probability of him joining our guild."

[Techno Zone Active]

Milo's eyes flickered with digital data as he processed the information.

Milo: "Probability... 20.013%. Not bad. Worth a try, at least."

Emma grabbed Milo's phone and studied the article showing Ryan's picture.

In the background, she noticed a guy in a black cap. Something about him tugged at her instincts.

Emma: "Milo, who's the guy in the cap standing behind Ryan? It's like... they have some kind of connection."

Milo:[Shrugs.] "Eyewitnesses say he entered the rank test room with Ryan. An F-rank, though. The Ether Machine didn't even glow!"

[He laughed.]

Emma:[Muttering to herself.] "It didn't glow...?"

[To Milo.] "What's the probability of him joining our guild?"

Milo recalculated.

Milo: "Uh... 0.001%. Damn! He must think he's hot stuff — for an F-rank, that's pretty delusional."

Milo: "Anyway, that's all I came to report. Anything else you want me to tell the others?"

Emma: "Tell them to keep scouting new members... and look into those two for me."

[Sighs, rubbing her temples.] "I've got mountains of paperwork to handle."

Milo:[Saluting with a grin.] "Gotcha, boss!"

Milo left, humming along to his tunes, while Emma went back to her endless documents.

Denzel:[Staring at the towering structure before him.] "We're finally here."

Ryan:[Eyes wide.] "It's huge! So we climb all the way up, huh? Let's get started!" [Cracking his knuckles.]

[Ping! Ping!]

"Welcome to the Tower!"

[Floor 1: The Elden Forest]

Stepping through the portal, Denzel and Ryan found themselves surrounded by towering ancient trees. Floating white orbs of mana illuminated the lush, misty woods. The air was surprisingly fresh for such a mysterious place.

The system prompted them:

Objective: Find the Elven Village.

Warning: Death in the tower is permanent.

Ryan:[Touching a glowing orb.] "Whoa! What are these white lights?"

Denzel:[Examining them carefully.] "Condensed mana. Looks like our first mission is to find an elven village."

Ryan:[Eyes sparkling.] "So we get to meet real-life elves! Maybe they'll be cute and shy!"

Denzel:[Deadpan.] "Not all elves are like those magazines show. Some are ruthless... like these ones. Dodge!"

Suddenly, arrows whistled through the air!

Both dodged instinctively, maneuvering through the barrage.

[Thunder Crash: Boom!]

Ryan unleashed a burst of lightning at the source, causing a distant explosion.

Ryan:[Excited.] "Did I get them?!"

Denzel:[Whacking him on the head.] "No, dummy. They fled."

Denzel crouched low, scanning the trees.

Denzel: "Only elves have that kind of range. And firing at strangers... well, imagine someone barging into your house. Would you welcome them, or call them invaders?"

Ryan:[Gulping.] "So... we're the trash?"

Denzel:[Nods solemnly.] "Exactly. Trash to be taken out."

Ryan:[Sweating.] "We're cooked, aren't we?"

Denzel: "Yup. Unless we come up with a plan, and fast."

As they trekked deeper into the forest, Ryan pondered something.

Ryan: "By the way, how do you know so much about elves?"

Denzel:[Sweating bullets.] "Uhhh... it's one of my abilities."

Before Ryan could probe further, the forest darkened.

From the mist emerged monstrous wolves — blood-red fur, flaming paws, and rows of gleaming canines.

They growled, surrounding the duo.

Denzel unsheathed a wicked, toothed dagger. Ryan's hands crackled with electricity.

They prepared for battle...
