Chapter 2 - Chapter 2: The Offer

"It's been three months already. You have to pay your rent, Miss."

The landlord's voice is firm as he turns away. He gives her one last look before walking out, his footsteps fading down the hall. Landlord leaves with a warning to pay his rent or he might take legal action.

Aurora stands there, staring at the table piled with bills. Her mind drifts to yesterday, to the decision she made—the decision that feels both desperate and necessary.

It's just one kidney. I'll be better off. What else will he do with it? A transplant. I'm betraying myself, the girl who's always struggled. But this could change my life. I can't keep living like this…

A buzz from her phone snaps her out of her thoughts. A message.

Message: 25 grands. Final offer.

Her heart races. Twenty-five thousand. Is this real?

She hesitates. What if he's lying? What if it's dangerous? But this could change everything. No more empty stomachs, no more suffering. No,He must be a rich man's broker finding kidney for a spoiled one

Her fingers tremble as she types, the weight of the decision pressing down on her.

Message: I want more information. Let's meet.

The message is sent. She watches the screen, her stomach in knots. There's no turning back now.

Aurora steps into the café, her nerves tight. The air smells of stale coffee. She looks around, then sees him.

He sits at a table near the window. His eyes catch hers immediately—sharp, green, and piercing. It feels like he's reading her every thought. His presence is cold, but there's something oddly calming about it too. She walks over and sits down.

The silence between them is heavy, suffocating. Finally, he speaks, his voice low and smooth, with an accent she can't quite place.

"To live a peaceful life, we have to pay someone. Nothing comes without a price, Aurora."

Aurora freezes. What does that mean? She can barely breathe, the words hanging in the air.

"Sometimes the price is paid by blood."

Her stomach churns. What is he saying?

She forces herself to speak. "Why my kidney? Why me?"

A cold smile forms on his lips, unsettling in its calmness. His eyes gleam.

"To taste you."

Aurora's body goes still. She feels the blood drain from her face. What does he mean by that? Taste me?

His tone changes—softer, almost affectionate. But it's worse. It makes her skin crawl.

"What's with that frightened face, bella signora?" His voice drips with something dark, something dangerous.

I can't back out now. I need this. I need to change my life.

Her voice trembles. "I… I ag—"

Suddenly, her phone buzzes with a message. She picks it up with shaking hands.

Message: Say no. You will regret this.
