Chapter 13 - Chapter 13: This is Power!

Judgement Cut End?

The dimensional slash signature technique of Yamato wielded by Vergil?

Though he hadn't yet read the detailed description provided by the system, the moment Richard saw "Son of the Devil" and "Judgement Cut End" appear together, his mind immediately conjured Vergil's signature technique from Devil May Cry.

Without hesitation, he accessed the detailed information for Judgement Cut End.

Just as I thought!

The mission reward was indeed Vergil's devastating signature skill.

Does this mean my next template will be Vergil?

Richard couldn't imagine the system would offer Yamato's Judgement Cut End as a mission reward without reason.

Vergil's template would be excellent! Especially the Devil Trigger form!

Though he couldn't be certain his next template would be Vergil's, Richard held deep admiration for the character.

"This is POWER!"

he thought, recalling Vergil's iconic line.

Before his transmigration, Richard had spent countless hours using Vergil in Devil May Cry 5, practicing "Combo MAD" techniques. While he never achieved the fluid, stylish, and technical mastery displayed by gaming experts, his appreciation for Vergil and Judgement Cut End remained undiminished.

He was, however, curious how he could execute Judgement Cut End without Yamato. In terms of sharpness, Masamune was comparable to Yamato, but the fundamental issue was that Masamune lacked Yamato's space-cutting capabilities. Judgement Cut End perfectly embodied Yamato's ability to slice through the fabric of space itself.

Though uncertain how the system would implement this technique, Richard didn't waste mental energy on the problem. If Judgement Cut End could be offered as a mission reward, the system must have devised a method for him to use it without Yamato. If not, the system would be disappointingly flawed.

After closing the Mission panel, Richard checked his current mana reserves.

[Mana: 40/170 (recover 28 points per hour)]

The upgrade of Shift Slash to Level 2 had correspondingly improved both his total mana capacity and regeneration rate. Though only 40 mana points remained, they would suffice for his immediate task.

Without hesitation, Richard used Blinkstep to leave the forest. Unlike previous days, he didn't travel directly into his RV, but instead materialized atop a tall tree overlooking the campsite.

From this vantage point, he quickly spotted mutant agents surrounding his vehicle.

Twelve of them.

These agents encircled the RV from four directions, with exactly three operatives positioned at each cardinal point. Beyond these twelve, Richard observed numerous heavily armed soldiers and two familiar faces: Victor Creed and Clarice Ferguson, both wearing collars specifically designed to suppress mutant abilities.

Though uncertain how they'd been captured, Richard immediately deduced the agents' intent in bringing them to the RV camp. Obviously, they had mistaken Sabretooth and Blink for his companions and planned to use them as leverage.

After a moment's consideration, Richard used Blinkstep again, teleporting directly to the RV's roof.

"Three days to locate me," he remarked, surveying the surrounding agents with calm detachment. "The Department of Mutant Affairs isn't as efficient as they claim."

Upon witnessing his appearance and taunt, Aiden, Belt, and the others immediately tensed, regarding him with intense vigilance. Though mutants themselves, they harboured no sympathy for Richard and others who defied the Mutant Restriction Act. In their view, it was precisely because of undocumented mutants like Richard that their kind continued to face discrimination from ordinary humans.

Neither Aiden, Belt, nor any other agent verbally responded. Instead, they answered with action.

Aiden and Belt simultaneously activated their powers, leading the assault. Aiden, who controlled fire, raised his right hand and directed his palm toward Richard atop the RV. The next instant, an orange-red flame resembling a fire dragon erupted from his palm, surging toward Richard with frightening velocity.

Simultaneously, Belt released a blast of biting cold air from his position.

The scorching flames and freezing air converged on Richard from opposite directions.

Blinkstep!

Without hesitation, Richard activated his ability. Though his enhanced durability granted significant defense, he had no intention of remaining stationary and confronting Aiden and Belt's combined assault.

BOOM!

Having missed their intended target, the orange-red flames and white cold air collided violently, detonating like a bomb. The explosion's thunderous report instantly reached across the RV campsite. Its shock wave, accompanied by scattered flames and icy fragments, tore a massive hole in the RV's roof and devastated its interior.

Richard, unconcerned with the vehicle's condition, had already teleported behind Aiden and was bringing Masamune toward the agent's neck in a lethal arc.

Just as the blade was about to sever Aiden's head, a white man over two meters tall interposed himself, using his body as a shield.

CLANG!

Masamune, diverted from Aiden's neck, struck the white man's body instead—or more precisely, struck his body as it instantly transformed from flesh and blood into solid rock.

A stone body?

Seeing the man's instantaneous metamorphosis, Richard adjusted his grip and pulled back Masamune.

"Gravesong !"

Richard executed four consecutive strikes with lightning speed. The rock-bodied man, unable to distinguish between Gravesong and an ordinary attack, remained stationary. He intended to use his stone form's impressive defensive capability to withstand Richard's technique.

His confidence quickly transformed into disbelief.

CRACK-CRACK-CRACK-CRACK!

Unlike before, Masamune effortlessly penetrated his defenses, carving through his body as easily as a knife through butter.

How is this possible? He stone man thought

Though he had seen online footage of Richard cleaving an armored vehicle with Masamune, he never imagined the blade could so easily overcome his stone form.

Under normal circumstances, rock indeed lacks steel's hardness. But his transformed body far surpassed an armored vehicle's protection capabilities. After joining the Department of Mutant Affairs, he had undergone comprehensive testing of his defensive power.

One test involved direct hits from anti-tank weapons. The results had shown that even five or six consecutive strikes from rocket launchers produced no significant damage to his stone form.

Yet now, the Stone Body that withstood anti-tank missiles had been effortlessly dissected by Richard's blade.

The white man collapsed with a look of incomprehension frozen on his face. Even in death, he couldn't understand how Richard's sword had suddenly become so devastatingly effective.

Richard ignored the fallen agent and used Blinkstep to vacate his position. Though the stone man had perished, his sacrifice had purchased crucial seconds for Aiden.

The moment the stone man hit the ground, Aiden unleashed another torrent of orange-red flame. By the time the fiery wave reached its target, Richard had already vanished completely.
