Chapter 3 - Chapter 3: Pure Emerald Eyes

With lights and sirens blaring, the officer drives rapidly, showing no sign of slowing down. Phill's anxiety eases with a sudden squeeze of his hand, though Amber grows even more anxious.

Phill: "Honey, it's… it's all going to be alright."

Amber: "I *cry* hope so, why it has to be my son and mother. It's all my fault."

Phill: "No one can predict an accident happening. None of this is your fault."

Amber: "But *hiccup* she so old, I should have never let her watch a newborn *hiccup*."

Phill: "It's alright honey, it is all going to be ok. ok?"

Amber: "Ok."

They arrive at the hospital, but Amber doesn't even wait for the car to fully stop. She almost trips but catches herself and runs straight to the door.

Amber: (Mommy coming baby.)

Amber: "Where Jon and Clarey, which room?!"

Front desk Nurse: "Who are you?"

Amber: "I am the mother of Jon and daughter of Clarey. Can you tell me where they are now!"

The nurse looks at Amber's panicked face, ready to tell her to leave, but stops when she sees an officer walk through the door.

Officer Ham: "It's ok to tell her, she is the mother of the Jon."

Front desk Nurse: *sigh* "Ok, I not suppose to do this but since the officer said so, then they are in room 237 on the second floor."

Amber: "Ok, thank you."

She sprints toward the elevator, the nurse's voice shouting something, but it falls on deaf ears. As she waits in the elevator, time drags on, each second feeling like an eternity. When the doors finally open, she steps out, heads straight to the right, and runs toward the door, swinging it open.

Alana Jade: "Excuse, but this is a hospital, please… oh it's you."

Amber: "Doctor, …*huff* how are they?!" Catching her breath, she sees Jon and Clarey on each side of the room.

Alana Jade: "Your son is in stable condition, but your mother is had a rough time."

Amber: "What! Is she ok?"

Alana Jade: "No need to worry, her life is not in danger but… her left arm may be unusable in the future."

Amber: "How can that be! What happened."

Alana Jade: "The police are still investigating the scene. You can ask them after you are done here."

After saying that, she leaves Amber to spend time with her mother and son. A few minutes later, Phill shows up and comforts her.

*Groan*

Phill: "Son, Darling he awake."

Amber: "What! He is?"

Phill: "Come on, buddy open your eyes for your dad."

After a few minutes of struggling to open his eyes, a pure emerald green shines from them as they dart around the room, finally landing on Clarey, who is lying in a bed across the room.

Amber: "Grandma ok honey, just a little scratch. Nothing to worry about."

A confident voice echoes from her, as if to comfort both Jon and herself.

Jon: (That… she still alive Jon, nothing to worry about.)

(No! Wait, that was Dan Demon or some shit like that… wait does that means the SCP foundation will find us. Shit!)

(Calm down! Nothing has happened yet, maybe they don't even have the technology to find where Dan appears.)

With Jon frozen, lost in his own thoughts, a worried look appears on both parents' faces, heightening their anxiety. Seeing this, Jon offers a bright smile to comfort them. Once Jon is awake, Amber checks on him for a few minutes before heading to her mother's bed.

Amber: "I hope you wake up soon mother."

Tears begin to form at the corners of her eyes, and a warm sensation washes over her, followed by a cry from across the room.

5 Days Later

An old lady sleeps peacefully, while a woman sits beside her, feeding an infant from a bottle. A twitch from the patient causes the woman to stop and glance over. In the next moment, Clarey slowly opens her eyes.

Amber: "Doctor! Doctor, she awake!"

The click of the door echoes as Jade walks in, as if she'd been waiting right outside. After checking on Clarey and setting up some tests, she walks out, giving the mother and daughter time to talk.

Clarey: "Is *cough* Jon ok?"

Amber: "Yes mo-*wahhh*"

Amber: "Well their you answer."

A smile spreads across the mother's face as a sense of relaxation washes over her, her body visibly easing. After a few seconds of silence, Amber asks what happened, breaking the stillness in the room.

Amber: "Mom, come on you can tell me."

Clarey: …

Amber: "Mom!"

Clarey: "I… its… ok its… no I'm sorry I can't tell you."

Amber: "Why not?"

Clarey: "It is for your safety."

Amber: *sigh* "Fine, but what will you tell the police?"

Clarey: "Say a wolf attack me or something. They're common around these parts anyway."

A dumbfounded look crosses Amber's face, as if to say, "No one will believe that." But a stone-cold look from her mother silences what was on the tip of her tongue.

Amber: "Whatever, here's your grandson, hold him with your good arm."

Clarey: "Thank you."

A sunny smile spreads across her face, while a sour expression crosses the daughter's face, frustrated by never winning against her mother.

Clarey: "Now, how is my doing today?"

Holding him in her right arm, she gives his stomach a light tickle, and the sound of baby laughter fills the air.

Jon: (Stop it, I'm hahaha, a grown man.)

(Stop, stop I'm going to- oh it happened.)

Clarey: "Why you don't laughing honey, it- *sniff* *sniff* oh it's time to change him, here you go."

Amber: "You're the one that tickled him."

There is no response has the patient lays down and closes her eyes.

Amber: "I know you can't fall asleep that fast, hey, I'm talking to you."

(It is like talking to a brick wall, whatever I'm the parent *sigh*. Let get this over with)

A few days later, Clarey is discharged, but she's warned not to strain herself with sudden movements or heavy lifting. A strained smile appears on Phill's face as he's told that Clarey will be staying with them for a few weeks.

Clarey: "I'm going to neeed~ so much help son-in-law."

A soured look appears on Phill's face, while Jon has the opposite reaction, his smile shining brighter than ever.

Jon: (Well, this is a good thing. She can tell me about the world and I think she knew something about SCPs.)

(I fill like I'm missing something… let's see, Dan shows up grandma survives a strike from him… grandma, wait how did she survive with only a big cut on her arm and not like the whole body split or something.)

(It makes no sense why she could survive, the only reason is me, more specifically the system.)

(Uh, Status.)

(That's all? What a let-down.)

(Ok, so what is next on the agenda. Hm, I think take care of the crystal.)

(How do I do that? Hide it, I can't even destroy it, don't think so anyway.)

They navigate through traffic, the sun blazing overhead, signaling the heat of summer. With the AC on full blast, Jon gazes out the window and notices something suspicious: a fully armored figure walking by, carrying a tray that's likely holding food of some kind.

(What the hell, why would some dress like that.)

After focusing for a moment, Jon's vision sharpens on the person, with everything else around him blurring. A few seconds later, the person opens the door, and with a swoosh, he disappears.

(Well, that has nothing to do with me, yep nothing at all.) A nervous look can be seen across his face as the grandma tries to play with him but to no success.

A few more minutes pass as they arrive home, but this time, there are no police, no ambulance, no panicked strangers, and no yellow tape.

Phill: "We're home buddy and *grumble* old lay."

 *Cough*

Phill: "Mother-in-law, I'm glad you are living with us for a few weeks."

Clarey: "Same."

Once inside, Amber heads straight to Jon's room and places him in the crib. After giving him a bottle, she expects him to sleep, but he doesn't. Grandma walks in, sitting next to him with a smile, but a horrible look soon crosses her face. Slowly, she stands up and snatches the jar away from Jon.

*Wahhhhhh*

Amber: "What? Something happened."

A panicked mother rushes into the room, her face filled with worry.

Clarey: "How could you give something that can break and end up cutting him."

Amber: *sigh* "Oh, that's all. It's nothing mother, it's just something that he has been attached to sense we got it."

"We tried to open it but, Jon was the only one that could open it, beside it never breaks."

Clarey: "Only he can open it, and it never breaks?"

Amber: "Yea."

The worried look deepens as the cries grow louder and louder. A voice can be heard echoing across the house.

Phill: "Just give it back to him, he goes crazy without it."

*Sigh*

Clarey: "Fine."

Reluctantly, she hands the jar back, and as soon as Jon grips it tightly, the crying stops, and he falls asleep. Seeing that nothing else is amiss, Amber returns to cleaning the house with Phill and getting the guest room ready for her mother.

Clarey: "That, it has to be. *Sigh* why are you giving me so much trouble it is like…you…attract them."

"Shit."

5 Months later

As the air grows colder, a warm light spills through the window. The family sits around a Christmas tree—two on the couch, one in a leather chair, and the child on the floor, eagerly tearing into presents. Laughter fills the room as they take pictures and record his reactions to each gift.

Jon: (I hate acting like a normal baby.)

(Whatever, it's to make sure that SCP foundation or any other is watching will not come take me away.)

(It's been what, a year or so. Don't normal babies start speaking around that time. Well, here goes nothing.)

Jon: "Mama."

Everything stops—the camera, the recording, the laughter—no sound remains as they all stare at the baby in the middle of the floor. After a few seconds, a small squeal escapes from the mother, and excitement fills the room as they all react with joy.

Amber: "Say it again!"

Phill: "Say, papa."

Clarey: "No, grandma next."

Phill: "That to much for him."

Clarey: "Quite you. Say nana."

An argument starts between the two, as the mother is completely focused on her son, not taking her eye off him for a second, until another sound is heard.

Jon: "Papa."

Phill: "Ha, I win."

Jon: "Dumb."

Both mothers stare at Phill. A cold sweat runs down his back, and he shrinks as if to hide.

Amber: "Phill Savion Myles, what did you teach our child!"

Phill: "It was not me I swear."

She starts hitting him with the pillow, and he raises his hands to block the flurry of attacks. As Phill gets beaten, Grandma takes Jon away.

Clarey: "That not suited for children."

"Ok, so what am I going to do to you." *sigh*

"You, have to be a magnet or something to have two of these things appear infront of you."

Jon: (Hey, im not the one to blame.)

An annoyed look can be seen on Jon's face as he holds the jar and looks away from Grandma.

Clarey: "You can understand me?"

Jon: (No duh, im older then a baby after all. Wait, thats not the problem.)

Clarey: "You, are you even my grandson. No, you are I was their when your mother gave birth to you."

"Then, maybe your smart, some sort of so called SCP or whatever those fools call them."

"Ugh, im getting to old for this." Sitting down, she just stares at jon saying nothing, till a discicion is made in her head.

"Then, I just train you for whatever is to come!"
