Chapter 3 - Chapter 3

"So what is your name, mage? Mine is Lorn." Lorn said, not looking back.

On top of the carriage, I sit cross-legged with my hands crossed over my chest. "My name is Azearl, and I am not a mage. I do practice the magic art, but I am better with a sword," I said, moving my head, showing the sword on my back that was hidden by the way I was sitting.

"Amazing, how old are you? You sound so young," he asked, perplexed.

"I am around early 30—wait, no, it was 16, then 27 or so years passed, so my early 40s," I said in a low breath.

"What? Can you repeat yourself? I did not quite catch that," he said, looking back at me.

"I am 16," I said, telling the age of my body and not my soul.

"WHAT!!!" he yelled, not believing me.

"Must I repeat myself?" I said, knowing he heard me.

"No, no, I heard you. It's just hard to believe you're so young yet such a strong mage, and you said you're better with your sword. It's just wow. Your parents must be so proud to have a son like you, young man, hahaahhaa," he said with a smile and some envy in his voice.

"They would if they were still here," I said low but loud enough for him to hear as his laugh was caught in his throat.

"I what I said was uncalled for ," he said, looking sad

"It's fine you did not know; no need to worry over it," I said as the rest of the journey was silent.

Catching the many footsteps heading their way, Azearl stood up, looking forward as he lifted his hand up. Once the footsteps got about 6 meters away from them, he shot out seven arcane fire arrows and one frost arrow, killing 8 and leaving nothing behind. Surprising all the horsemen as they stopped, the coachman quickly stopped the carriage, making whoever was inside fall while another smacked the wall. An angry voice yelled from inside of the carriage.

"What the hell was that?" They said as the door swung open, a girl who looked about 14 jumped out, followed by a maid who looked around worried, looking only a bit older, maybe 16, about my body's age.

"I am sorry, ma'am," said the coachman, worried.

"I just took care of some trouble; that is all. You may head back inside. They stopped the carriage out of fright. Next time I will give a warning," I said, sitting back down.

Annoyed but relieved, she jumped back in as the maid bowed to me and followed her master.

It's been two days with this group; someone is really not a fan of this girl going to meet her fiancé. There have been about seven groups of assassins attacking our group at all hours of the day and night. What a waste of money!

Along the way I found out that there are three major kingdoms: the Drazean, known for their belief in Drielia, their goddess; the Grousik Empire, known for their strict rules and their science; and last but not least, the Ugani Kingdom, a kingdom known for their agriculture. Along with the elves in the west in the forest of Palior, where the world tree is said to be planted, they are a very private race, not letting any being into their kingdom besides the beastmen, who are northwest close neighbors to the elves, who are known to be tribe territory with many different tribes and clans. There are also dwarves to the south in the desert; they are said to live underground, with only a few merchants and some important beings allowed to enter their kingdom.

Now with some knowledge of this world, I wonder if there are different continents besides this one. This continent seemed to do a lot of infighting and doesn't really care about traveling by sea for some reason, and there really is nothing known about the north; not many people live there besides the monsters, who are like the game's spawn around the world, but this world does not have a system; they just appear, and once you defeat them, they just drop and do not turn to EXP, so most people farm them until low numbers and sell the parts to alchemists to use for potions, which the Grousike Empire is known for.

I'll find out more in the library of the Drezean kind I am headed to in just a few more miles. I can hear many people bustling around, so in just another two or three hours, we should make it.

I could see the kingdom's massive walls and gates as soldiers stood guard while one looked at me with a magnifying glass. I spook him a bit as I stare right at him, making him jump back as I look back down, making him rethink what he just saw. Stopping at the gate, we get asked a few questions, which Lorn took care of for me, but I did find out this girl has been living in a manor away from the kingdom for some time because she has a strong power of some kind. They did not elaborate, which annoyed me. I know she has some power, but not what it does. After getting paid near their main estate, I leave after asking for a guild building and library. Aing it to the library with relative ease, I find out I must have been a citizen for at least two years to even enter or a student at a local academy.

'Bullshit laws There goes any way to find out more about this world for now. I can't enter even if I am all-powerful. The library has set up wards that detect any form of mana, and since the goddess made me use this world's mana, it'll get detected right away, and I can't just move super fast. They have a ward that physically blocks any person without a special card of some kind. I could just steal one, but they are linked to the person's mana, so that is also out of the question, and it will alert the wards. So next stop, the guild building. I might make a super strong party while I am here.

Walking to the guild building, I forget where I am going, so I ask for directions, but when I do, they walk away from me or just ignore me like I am not there, which is really getting on my nerves.

"Hello, Sire I would like to ask you why you are bothering so many people." I hear someone say behind me, so I turn, and I see a guard.

"Hello, I am just asking for directions, but no one will give them to me," I said, putting on a friendly voice.

"Ohhh, you have an adventure? That is some cool armor. Where did you get it made?" he asked, looking me up and down.

"I got it from the South after winning in a battle," I said, which is true in a sense.

"Really, you went to one of those dwarven competitions they do every year or so, and the winner gets a weapon, but I never heard about armor that cool. Anyways, I have to go, so from where we are now, turn right in that alley and then go straight a few blocks and turn left, and you'll wind up in front of the guild house. Have a safe day, and if you need anything, you'll find me near the Frouzen Inn," he said, walking off after giving another once-over.

"Okay, thank you, bye," I said, walking in the directions he gave me.

After a minute, I make it walking in. I see many people talking, but as I make it to the reception, most stop and stare at me with wonder and curiosity in their eyes.

A man with slicked-back black hair looks at me with a nervous smile. "What can I do for you, sir?" he says, sounding nervous.

"I was hoping to register with the guild house if possible," I said smiling which coudl not be seen by teh helmet.

"Sure, but if you wait until tomorrow, we will have a competition, and instead of starting off as a low rank, you can fight a high-ranking member and be ranked around their rank, if not their rank," he said, handing me a paper with a language I can't read.

"Sure, I'll be able to do that, but if I were to register now, what type of mission would I be able to do?" I ask, curious.

"Most people start with herb gathering or low-rank hunting jobs, like you see that one over there," he said, pointing to a wall of paper. "That one is to hunt some goblins and gather their ears as proof of completion, and the rest you can use however you'd like," he said, smiling more relaxed now, and most of the people started focusing back on their conversation.

"I would like to do those missions for now, so if you could register me now, that would be fine," I said, giving him back his paper.

"Sure, that would be two silver coins," he said, reaching his hand out to me.

Reaching into my left gauntlet, I pull out a gold coin.

"I am sorry, but I only have gold coins on me," I said nervously.

"That'll be fine. I'll owe you 98 silver coins, or you can buy a book on monster , and herbsthey are separate, and that come out to 63 silver, which leaves you with 35 silver and if you want, I could rent out a room for you in our personal room and thatll be 34, leaving you 1 silver, which you can buy some food nearby by if you'd like at a nearby vendor so go pick a mission while I get your thing read So about your name and age, that is all I need from you." They said, putting a professional voiceme hook, line, and sinker

"Azearl, and I am 16, and I'll do that, thank you," I said as he handed me a room key labeled 7 and my silver, which I grabbed, and I headed to the job wall. I decide to just grab one, hoping it's a low-level one, and walk back to the reception.

"Now could you tell me what that job entails?" he said to me, making me a bit embarrassed.

"I can't read it," I said a bit quietly.

"That is fine; most adventurers can't and never learn, but we do teach it for just 25 silver. You see the stair, and you go that way and past the rented room. We have classes every Monday," he said, smiling.

"I see. So what day is it today?" I asked slowly.

"Today is Thursday, so you'll have to wait three days," he said as he grabbed the mission. "This mission is to exterminate some wild goblins that wandered off the spawning ground to the east of the kingdom. Most times the guard does these types of work, but security has been tight since the sighting of the dungeons recently," he said as he stamped the mission and gave me the stuff I bought.

"Tell me about this dungeon," I asked curious.

Here's a revised version of your passage with improved grammar, spelling, and flow. Let me know if you'd like additional tweaks:

---

Well, in short, the dungeons are like portals that lead to new worlds, where you fight monsters in various environments and hunt down a boss to complete the challenge. But these bosses are extremely strong, and if a dungeon break occurs, the monsters could easily take over a small kingdom. Thankfully, there haven't been any dungeon breaks since the war ten years ago, when a peace treaty was signed. Most kingdoms now focus on maintaining close ties by marrying into each other's royal families.

As we speak, the heroes of another world—summoned a few days ago by our goddess—are responding to the crisis. Five dungeons recently broke to the north, unleashing extremely powerful monsters. Since our kingdom is the closest, the high priest beseeched the goddess for help, he explained in a hushed tone near me, sharing an abundance of information. "That'll be two gold," he said, smiling.

"Alright, thank you," I replied, discreetly slipping the books and card into my armory by tucking them into my chest plate. I handed him two gold coins.

Leaving the guild house, I went to a vendor to grab some food—something I hadn't done in a long time. Over time, I seemed to have lost the urge for such mundane tasks, including using the restroom and bathing. I wondered whether I smelled bad but assumed not, since no one had complained. Perhaps the goddess had cleaned me up before sending me here. I bought three meat sticks and ate them while watching the sun dip below the horizon. It was time to rest.
