January 25th, 2020 — a new day.
After the craziness of yesterday, Brandston was ready to just have a normal day.
Classes moved fast — lots of art theory, sketches, and more sports practice in the afternoon.
At lunchtime, Joel and Brandston sat together like usual.
Joel was healing up fine — one eye a little puffy, but he wore it like a battle scar proudly.
While they were eating, Joel suddenly said,
"Yo... isn't that your 'heart-stopper' girl?"
Brandston looked — and there she was, carrying a tray, looking for a seat.
Alone. No friends. Just...her. Natural, calm, beautiful without trying.
Joel grinned, whispering,
"Go. This is a divine sign, bro!"
Brandston hesitated. His heart raced.
Finally, he stood up, casually walked over...
and offered,
"Hey, do you want to sit with us?"
She glanced at him — her eyes sharp but not unkind.
Then she simply said,
"I'm good, thanks."
And walked away.
Joel had to bite his hand to stop himself from laughing out loud.
Brandston sat down, a little embarrassed, but weirdly... he smiled.
Brandston thought:
"She's different. I want to know her more. Even if she ignores me."
