The rain during the day seemed to have been just a fraction of what was to come tonight.
The sky was illuminating itself with constant lightning flashes which were quickly followed by the roaring sound of thunder.
The wind consistently brushed past in fury and, in the process, broke a branch off a tree to send it swirling into the sky.
Back in Ivan's room, Vesper seemed to be one with the current weather as her whole body was covered with ferociously twitching lightning.
She had her gaze locked onto Ivan, her eyes glowing red and her fangs elongated.
Ivan could feel the murderous aura seeping out of her and although he didn't want to admit it to himself, his trembling legs were enough to describe what he was feeling at the moment.
"Is this really because of that worthless fairy?!" He screamed, mostly out of fear.
"You're the one who's truly worthless."
Vesper charged toward him as soon as those words left her lips.
Not wanting her to get close, Ivan frantically blasted a stream of fire at her.
Given how slow that attack was compared to her speed, she could have easily avoided it, but she charged straight into it causing a mini explosion as fire made contact with lightning.
Seeing the explosion and the thick smoke brought about by it, Ivan couldn't help but smile as he thought he had somehow succeeded in taking care of Vesper.
Unfortunately, his expectations were a bit too unrealistic.
The next moment, Vesper burst out from the smoke, completely unscathed.
She was in front of Ivan before he could even realize and at that moment, he felt a shrill run down his spine.
Given how young he was and the family he was from, this level of fear was something he had never felt before. The fear that his life could very possibly end and there was no one around to help him.
"I heard you enjoyed kicking him around."
She grabbed him by his right arm and pulled him forward just to slam her knee down his gut.
"Arghh." Ivan groaned as he felt the electrical current from her body run through his body adding to the pain he felt from the initial impact.
"Do you think it's fun to toy with someone just because they're not as strong as you?"
Still holding onto his arm with a tight grip, she lifted him and flung him back allowing him to crash down to the floor before rolling toward the exit door.
At this point, Ivan was struggling just to remain conscious. He had blood sipping out of his mouth and nose and his eyes could barely hold up anymore.
"No." He groaned as he reached for the door. "I have to get out of here."
He was just about to touch the door when Vesper grabbed by his throat, pulling him up against the door as she squeezed his throat.
Ivan found himself struggling to breathe, and his limbs slowly began to grow numb.
"You killed my best friend, so it's only right if you die too."
Just after saying that, she stretched her right hand toward Ivan's sword which was lying on the ground.
A red thread suddenly shot out from her hand and latched onto the sword to pull it to her.
"I would have just drained your blood to feed vampire rogues if you weren't a fairy." She growled as the sword suddenly lit up with a red glow. "However, I think it's better to have it spill."
She let go of his throat at that moment but before Ivan could drop to the floor, she pierced through him with the sword.
The sword went straight through his stomach and straight through the door.
That explosion from earlier seemed to have attracted a couple of students who were close by in the dormitory to hear it.
Most of them had been hanging around Ivan's door, so when the sword dripping with blood pierced through the door from inside, one of them couldn't help but scream.
Seeing the sword go through Ivan like a hot knife through butter, Vesper suddenly had a huge smile of satisfaction on her face as she slowly let go of the sword.
Ivan's body was now pinned to the door, his upper body leaning forward a bit as he let out low grunts. He couldn't even say anything properly because of the amount of pressure Vesper put on his neck earlier.
Watching him clinging to life desperately, Vesper just couldn't wipe the smirk off her face, and before even she knew it, she was laughing quite hysterically.
"You know what?" She said as she pulled out her dagger. "I still don't think this is enough pain for your death. No matter where you find yourself later, I don't want you to ever forget the pain you felt at this very moment."
With just a step, she was right in front of him again, the dagger held up.
She did not hesitate to strike at him with the dagger, aiming right for his heart.
It was a clean pierce for the dagger, a bloody show as the floor was covered with even more blood.
________ ________
In just one day, there had been two tragic events at Nelxus Academy, one causing the other.
It looked like the sky was mourning for the Academy with each death.
Despite all the commotion by the weather before the actual rain came, it was just a light shower.
The students were given an urgent command to return to their dormitories and not leave their rooms with a warning to seriously punish any violators.
The students had no reason to disobey the command so they did as they were told.
However, given the current situation, Vesper couldn't care less.
While everyone had retreated to their rooms, she could be seen dragging herself through the rain to the infirmary which was opposite the dormitories.
The door to the room where Axel's body was kept had already been destroyed by her earlier so there was nothing in her way as she made her way into the room.
She got to the covered body in no time, and for a while, she just stood there staring at it, reluctant to pull away the cloth covering the body.
"Axel." She muttered before forcing a smile on her face.
Just after saying that, she suddenly crashed down on her knees, pulling off the cloth covering his body in the process.
Seeing the lifeless body, reality dawned on her once again and soon her eyes were filled with tears.
"You're not really dead, right?" She shook her head as she cried. "No, it can't be. I know a method that can save."
Still adamant about refusing to believe that this was all real, she took out her dagger and made a very big cut on her palm quite aggressively without even flinching.
Due to that, a drop of her blood flung upward and landed on the blue pendant Axel had around his neck.
That was something he had been wearing since he was little, a particularly unremarkable pendant.
However, it seemed that the pedant wasn't really what it appeared to be.
Just as the blood touched the pendant, it suddenly received a golden glow, that had Vesper suddenly staring at it in confusion.
"Huh?"
Soon afterwards, Axel's whole body was covered by a golden light before suddenly shooting upward, the graceful light illuminating the whole sky.
The light was so bright that not even a single person who was awake at that moment could miss it.
The students suddenly found themselves staring at the sky wondering what was going on.
"What's going on?"
"That's a sign." A student said as he walked by.
"A sign of what?"
"The fairy god's divine light."
The light being so bright meant that it blinded Vesper for a few seconds, and when she opened her eyes, she found Axel floating as he was bathed by the golden light.
"What is going on?"
Axel could also ask the same question as he suddenly found something in front of him.
