Chapter 13 - chapter 13: The Game Begins: Seeds of Destiny

When Feng Chan and Xiao Mei were walking through that deserted and silent part of the forest, fatigue was evident on their faces, but deep inside, both of them were alert.

However, they missed one small detail—a cold, ancient light was observing them from a spot above the cliff.

That light was part of a spiritual technique. An ancient tracking spell.

> "They've entered the marked zone, my Lord,"

whispered a faint, nearly invisible shadow—and another figure, blended into the darkness, simply replied:

"Let them. The time is not right… yet."

---

Feng Chan cleared the path ahead, gripping his sword tightly. Xiao Mei was slightly tired, but remained silent.

"Are you okay?" Feng Chan asked.

She nodded. "I'm fine, but this forest… it feels strange."

Feng Chan felt it too.

There was something heavy in the air. As if an ancient memory stood guard here.

> "This area... it doesn't exist on any sect maps," he muttered.

"Exactly," Xiao Mei whispered. "Because this part was erased."

---

On the way, they found an old, broken arch—half-buried, covered in moss.

As they approached it, the ground suddenly began to vibrate slightly.

"Step back!" Feng Chan warned, but it was already too late.

A bright golden seal began to glow within the arch.

Ancient script lit up with the words "Trial of Forgotten Flames"—in a language only Sacred Inheritors could understand.

> "Feng Chan…" Xiao Mei's voice trembled with fear. "This… this is one of the trials of the Ancient World!"

Determination flashed in Feng Chan's eyes.

> "If this is a trial," he said, "then I'll complete it. No matter what lies inside."

---

Inside the Trial Gate

As they entered, the entire world changed.

Around them flowed rivers of lava, molten rocks, and black clouds thundered in the sky.

A giant flaming creature—half-dragon, half-hawk—landed in front of them.

> "Only one may pass. The other must be sacrificed."

They were both shocked.

Xiao Mei: "I—I can go if you—"

Feng Chan: "Absolutely not. If someone must be sacrificed… it'll be me."

But in that moment, an invisible force pushed Xiao Mei aside… and the trial began.

---

Trial of Flames

A flaming sword descended from the sky, and the creature attacked Feng Chan.

Feng Chan dodged, but one strike burned his shoulder.

The pain was intense—but he didn't give up.

> "I didn't survive a year of humiliation and hunger just to die here," he growled.

A blue aura burst from his body—the first layer of Ying Yue's inheritance had activated.

"Flame Collapse Palm!"

A powerful palm strike hit the creature's chest, causing a loud explosion.

---

At last, the creature collapsed. The trial was completed.

A small flame orb descended from the sky and entered Feng Chan's hand.

> "You have passed the First Trial of Forgotten Flames. The true path begins now."

Xiao Mei rushed to him.

"Feng Chan! Are you okay?"

He smiled. "Still alive… for now."

---

But as they moved toward the exit gate…

A new presence activated above the cliff.

A figure in black robes, with eyes burning with purple flames.

> "To think… he truly holds the bloodline of the Fallen Star. Interesting."

He vanished—but a message whispered in the air:

> "The Heavens may ignore you now, Feng Chan…

But soon, you will shake their very roots."

When Feng Chan and Xiao Mei stepped outside the trial gate, the air was eerily silent.

As if nothing remained—only the smell of scorched earth, and a haunting silence.

But neither of them knew that their every step was being watched.

That black-robed shadow—unknown to all—had reached another place.

A grand, dark hall with flaming torches and goddess-like jade statues standing on either side.

> "The boy has awakened the first layer of the Inheritance,"

he said, his voice calm and cold.

Another figure stepped from the shadows—wearing a metal mask.

> "Then it begins. The curse of the Heavens… and the rise of the Fallen Star."

---

Meanwhile, back in the jungle

Xiao Mei's hand was on Feng Chan's burned shoulder.

"Let me help—your shoulder… it's badly burned!"

Feng Chan smiled through the pain:

> "I'm fine. But that trial… felt different. Like someone else was guiding me through it."

Xiao Mei looked at him.

> "You're the bearer of Ying Yue's inheritance, aren't you?"

Feng Chan nodded with deep thought in his eyes.

> "Yes… but the inheritance isn't complete. I have to prove myself… that I'm worthy of it."

Xiao Mei was about to say something when the ground suddenly shook again.

Another portal-like circular gate rose from the earth.

> "This wasn't part of the first trial..." she whispered.

Feng Chan saw the inscription above the gate:

"Chamber of Bloodlines – Only One May Remember."

---

Inside the Hidden Chamber

As they entered, a glowing mirror stood before them.

It was a mirror of old memories.

As Feng Chan approached it, he felt a strong pull.

A vision appeared in the mirror—an ancient battlefield…

A man and a woman stood facing each other.

The woman—looked exactly like Ying Yue.

> "You must forget me, Feng," she said. "Until you carve your name across the Mainland."

The vision faded. Feng Chan's heart felt heavy.

> "So all of that… it was a memory. It was real."

Xiao Mei looked at the mirror. "That… was Ying Yue?"

Feng Chan was silent.

---

But the mirror revealed another vision—a dark-robed man… with the same purple flame in his eyes as the one on the cliff.

And behind him… a symbol—The Black Phoenix.

> "He is the one," Feng Chan said. "The one I saw in a dream. The one who knows everything that happened to my family."

Suddenly, the mirror shattered.

A burning message appeared in the air:

"Blood will awaken blood. The traitor of the North still lives."

---

Back at the Dark Hall

The black-robed man smiled.

> "So… he saw the mirror. Good. The seeds of doubt have been sown."

"He will now search for answers. And when he does… he will walk right into our trap."

> "So... he saw the mirror. Good. The seeds of doubt have been sown."

"He will now search for answers. And when he does… he will walk right into our trap."

The Shadow raised his hand—there was a crystal in his palm, inside which a small burning flame flickered.

This flame was none other than a fragment of Feng Chan's spiritual energy—stolen from him during the trial without his knowledge.

> "With this... we can start unraveling the Bloodline of the Fallen Star."

"And soon, the boy will become our key."

Another figure appeared behind him—tall, clad in golden armor, her face covered by a translucent veil.

> "But what if he resists?"

"His bloodline's original path... is connected to Heaven's Cycle of Creation. What if he begins to write his own destiny?"

The Shadow smiled and replied—

> "Then we'll make him write it... in his own blood."

Scene Switch: Midnight Camp – Deep in the Jungle

Feng Chan sat before the fire—the reflection of the visions he saw in the mirror danced in his eyes.

Xiao Mei sat quietly beside him, though her mind too was restless.

> "You're unusually silent," Xiao Mei said.

"What did you see in the mirror, Feng?"

Feng Chan stared intensely—the red firelight cast eerie shadows on his face.

> "Ying Yue,"

"Or... a memory sealed deep inside me."

> "And another face... the one bearing the symbol of the Black Phoenix."

Xiao Mei looked at him in shock.

> "Black Phoenix... that's a lost clan. A myth!"

Feng Chan's heart began to beat faster.

> "Maybe not lost. Maybe hiding."

"And maybe... responsible for the destruction of my clan."

---

Suddenly—Boom!

A wave of energy shook the jungle.

A masked figure dropped from the trees—holding a poisoned blade, his face marked with a cult symbol: "Xuan Demon Sect."

> "YOU! Bearer of the Fallen Star!"

"You must not reach the Temple!"

Without thinking, Feng Chan raised his hand and unleashed the Falling Meteor Palm technique.

An explosion followed, and the assassin was consumed by flames—but in his dying breath, he uttered:

> "Your master... betrayed his own fate. Just like you will."

---

Scene Switch: A High Mountain – Temple of the Lost North

Far away, Ying Yue sat in meditation upon a sacred mountain.

A single tear rolled down her cheek.

> "Feng... you saw the past."

"But can you handle the truth of the future?"

Before her lay an ancient scroll—it read:

> "When the Fallen Star returns to the Sky, the Heavens shall bleed."

And then, a scar on her back began to glow...

The same scar where, once upon a time, Feng Chan had written her name.
