Chapter 8 - Our mother is always watching

The next day, Jennifer went out discreetly and visited a private hospital for an ultrasound to check on the health of her unborn child.

The dean of the hospital had once benefited from her personally received Jennifer.

"Miss Jennifer, your situation is not very optimistic.

This children has been through a lot, and it's only thanks to the great medical skills of the nation's doctors that they are still healthy," the dean said with a solemn expression as he looked through her medical report.

"The next month is especially critical; you need to take good care of your body and avoid overthinking and overworking.

I will prescribe you some medications to help stabilize the pregnancy.

If you experience any bleeding or discomfort, come back to the hospital immediately."

Jennifer had been worried all night since she experienced some bleeding, but she was relieved to hear that the children was okay.

"Thank you, Dean.

However, I have another request: Please make sure that no information about my pregnancy is leaked."

The dean, who had seen a lot of the ways of the world, didn't ask any more questions and just nodded in agreement.

He had the medications packaged in highly confidential packaging and personally escorted her to the door, reminding her, "Take your medicine on time.

The bottle's design is made specifically for this hospital, so others won't be able to tell what's inside.

You can rest assured."

Jennifer thanked him for his consideration and left.

Before she could even get in her car, she received a call from John, who sounded quite enraged, "That scumbag Colton is getting engaged to Sonia just after you two signed the divorce agreement.

The divorce certificate hasn't even arrived yet!

Jennifer, this is absolutely unbearable.

Do you want me to take revenge on them for you?"

Silence.

"Jennifer?

Aren't you going to say anything?

Are you going to take matters into your own hands and destroy the Redford residence?"

"...Shut up."

Jennifer found herself standing across the street in front of a glass window, listening to John's non-stop ranting.

But it wasn't as painful as seeing the scene with her own eyes - inside a high-end wedding dress store, Sonia was wearing a pure white, diamond-studded fishtail wedding dress, with Colton dressed in a fine suit and tightly hugging her waist.

They were whispering to each other, and Sonia was smiling sweetly.

With her anti-miscarriage medication in hand, Jennifer tried to ignore the pain in her abdomen.

Remembering the dean's advice, she tried to calm her emotions and took a deep breath: Stop paying attention to Colton's every move!

He had only ever brought her neglect and pain.

"Why do you keep torturing yourself like this, Jennifer?"

Concerned about her child, she intended to leave with her medication.

However, Sonia suddenly looked up and said something to Colton before happily lifting her skirt and running out to stop Jennifer, "Sister, what are you doing here?

Are you here to see us?"

Colton slowly approached, standing behind Sonia, his expression aloof.

Jennifer couldn't shake the feeling that his gaze was lingering around her abdomen, causing unease deep within her.

However, on second thought, even if Colton could see something, she wasn't showing any signs of pregnancy yet, so he wouldn't be able to detect the children.

She couldn't appear guilty and reveal any more flaws... "

Just passing by," Jennifer said coldly, looking at Sonia.

 "You're in my way."

"Sister, are you mad at me?"

Sonia asked, holding onto Colton with a somewhat uneasy expression.

"Although Colton and I fell in love first, it was you who took care of him during his most difficult times on my behalf.

I've always been grateful for that. So, no matter what you do to me, I'll always see you as my real sister."

These words, while seemingly apologetic, actually flaunted their love in front of Jennifer. Jennifer didn't want to expose the pregnancy-preserving medicine, and originally didn't want to bother with her.

"With such a big face, you have the nerve to wander around..."

She sneered, "Sonia, my mother only gave birth to one daughter.

Don't blindly claim to be a relatives."

Colton narrowed his eyes: Jennifer was indeed as domineering and sharp-tongued as Sonia had said, not sparing anyone.

Upon hearing this, Sonia's smile stiffened slightly, but she stubbornly held onto Jennifer's hand, her eyes filled with tears.

"Sis, if you really can't let go of Colton, I... I won't get engaged."

Colton frowned, "Sonia, she's not qualified to interfere with our affairs."

"Colton, since we were young, my sister and I have always relied on each other...

This marriage substitution is originally something I should apologize for."

Sonia choked up while holding Colton's hand, "My parents, if they knew, would not want to see us sisters become enemies...

If my sister really doesn't agree, let's put the engagement aside for now."

Colton's face was unhappy, and he stared scornfully at Jennifer, "Such a cruel-hearted daughter, your parents might not even be willing to admit!"

 Cruel-hearted?

Jennifer chuckled: It seemed that Sonia had fed Colton a lot of 'truths', which made him hold such deep prejudices against her.

"Sonia, have you dreamed of the explosion these days?"

Jennifer suddenly stepped forward, grabbing Sonia's hand, leaning over to her ear, and whispered,

"Father was the closest to the source of the explosion, his limbs shattered, flesh splattered...

Mother suffered severe burns all over her body, her face disfigured, with only one eye still able to recognize you, her heartless and cruel-blooded daughter..."

Sonia's face turned pale with fright, wanting to pull her hand away, but Jennifer's strength was surprisingly great.

She tried her best, but couldn't move at all.

"You..." She cried out in pain, "Sister, you're hurting me."

The next moment, Colton suddenly intervened, forcefully separating Jennifer and pushing her aside,

"Don't touch her!"

Jennifer stumbled a few steps, nearly crashing into the corner vase.

She instinctively protected her abdomen with medicine, her face darkened, and her eyes were filled with disappointment and mockery, "Colton, control your woman, and don't provoke me again!"

The red image at the bottom of Colton's eyes clearly recorded the whole process of her protecting her abdomen, and his eyes narrowed dangerously.

Jennifer took out her phone, played a surgery video, on the operating table was Mrs. Susan, who was lying there covered with wounds, gasping in a silent scream.

With only one intact eye left, it was filled with bloodshot veins, swollen and protruding like bloody glazed glass, seemingly bursting out of the screen, staring deadly at Sonia...

"Sonia, revenge is not forgotten, the time has not yet come."

Jennifer suddenly thrust her phone in front of Sonia's eyes, "Remember this face! Our mother is always watching you..."

"Ah!"

Sonia was startled, her face turning pale,

"She..." Mrs. Susan was actually not dead? Stephen's subordinates were all useless, unable to handle such a small matter!

She suddenly turned and threw herself into Colton's arms, trembling as she questioned, "Sister, our mother has already passed away...

Why would you use the image of a deceased person to play a cruel joke, just to provoke me?"

Colton couldn't see the content of the video on the phone, but his expression changed upon hearing her words.

He gently patted Sonia's head, comforting her, "Sonia, don't be afraid."

After a pause, he looked at Jennifer,"I'll deal with her."
