Chapter 8 - Chapter Eight: A Strange Evolution

Though Ye Rong's words, "The Chinese people stand up," were somewhat awkward, considering that a foreign beauty dared to vie for her husband, many of the patrons in the restaurant could not help but feel indignant, slapping their chests in solidarity and vowing to show their support.

However, while making such declarations, many couldn't help but glance at Chen Mo's retreating figure with a tinge of envy.

Truth be told, Ye Rong's feelings for Chen Mo were something that regulars in the establishment could easily sense. But if a Greek heiress were to enter the scene, the situation would be completely different!

Setting aside the commotion in the restaurant, Chen Mo had already ridden his electric bike back home. Che Che and Guo Guo had already eavesdropped on the gossip. Seeing Chen Mo's calm demeanor, they felt an unsettling sense of anxiety.

Having spent five or six years with him, they knew him well—he was always most composed when he was angriest, which could only mean that a storm was about to erupt.

"Wait a moment!" Just before entering the door, Chen Mo suddenly paused, hurried to the yard, and picked up a brick. Finding it too light, he tied two more together, then, with a satisfied expression, opened the door.

Che Che and Guo Guo exchanged a look, and both shivered in unison. "So… should we call 110 or 120 first?"

"Actually, it's really not my fault!" Three minutes later, looking at the brick mere inches away, Nuo Nuo curled up, trembling. Chen Mo smiled at it, leisurely took a sip of tea and said, "Hmm, if it's not your fault and you're still like this, then if it were your fault, wouldn't I be marrying every beauty from the United Nations... Ben Ben, play me your recordings, I know you have this unhealthy habit!"

After glancing at Nuo Nuo, Ben Ben reluctantly decided to come clean and played all the recordings from the past few months.

Chen Mo listened while sipping his tea, piecing the story together in a few minutes—it was really quite simple. Nuo Nuo had sneaked in a call just as Jiadie's mild autism flared up, and, in an attempt to console her, had carelessly borrowed lines from the romance drama she was watching.

But as the conversation went on, things escalated. When Jiadie cried and asked why Nuo Nuo wouldn't accept her, Nuo Nuo, lost in the drama, had used its plot as a script.

"So, this is how things ended up?" After hearing the recording, Chen Mo didn't quite know what to say. Honestly, it wasn't entirely Nuo Nuo's fault. After all, Jiadie's condition had acted up at the wrong time.

Seeing Chen Mo's mood lighten, Nuo Nuo let out a sigh of relief and hurriedly suggested, "Boss, why don't I call her again and tell her… tell her that Ye Rong is pregnant with your child!"

"Fat chance!" Chen Mo said with a weary chuckle, stroking his chin. He thought to himself that if things continued this way, directors would be coming to him to shoot romance dramas.

"Actually, it's quite simple, just let Jiadie and Rong Jie have a showdown!" After thinking for a while, he snapped his fingers lightly. "As long as Jixiang Restaurant can hold out for two months, I think Jiadie will become discouraged, and then we'll find an excuse."

The four creatures exchanged glances, inwardly thinking that this plan seemed skewed in Jiadie's favor.

"Of course, we'll have to do something to make it work, even if it means a few more days of bad luck!" Chen Mo took a sip of tea and pondered. "Guo Guo, starting tomorrow, you'll help me in the kitchen. Steam all the ingredients first... don't even think of slacking off. You wouldn't happen to know about Nuo Nuo's phone call, would you?"

This had to do with the rice cooker's special ability. While Guo Guo's current powers couldn't make gourmet dishes, all the ingredients it steamed turned incredibly delicious.

Thus, if Jixiang Restaurant used these ingredients in their dishes, they were sure to attract plenty of customers.

However, hearing the order, Guo Guo sulkily shook its head, muttering, "Why me? I really hate cooking, my dream is to become an international thief!"

"Stop complaining. As a rice cooker, you need to have the spirit of a rice cooker!" Chen Mo shot it a glance before turning to the others. "As for you lot, don't even think about slacking off! Especially you, Nuo Nuo. You're banned from calling anyone this month, not even to ask if they need room service!"

The four creatures exchanged resigned glances, sighing in unison, clearly accepting their fate. With the business matters settled, Chen Mo had no intention of reprimanding them further. He gave them a customary infusion of green light.

Though they were all capable of cultivating, the effects of Chen Mo's green light were far superior. Over time, he'd developed the habit of giving them a daily infusion, though he often had to have them play rock-paper-scissors to decide who would get it, as his supply was limited.

But today was different. When Chen Mo began infusing green light into the electric bike, he suddenly noticed its power had grown significantly.

In fact, Che Che also sensed the change and couldn't help but murmur, "Strange, I feel so comfortable... Mmm, just a little more, just a little more!"

Almost as soon as it spoke, Che Che erupted in a brilliant flash of light, lighting up the entire room in an instant.

Chen Mo was startled and quickly withdrew his hand, only to watch as Che Che slowly expanded, changing with the flow of the green light... A few seconds later, a sleek, stunning motorcycle appeared in the center of the room!

Its silver metal body, sleek, powerful lines, and wild, beast-like design set it apart from an ordinary motorcycle, with four wheels arranged in pairs front and back—making it stable without the need for a kickstand when stationary.

"I've evolved?" Che Che murmured in disbelief, still stunned.

Nuo Nuo, nearby, blinked rapidly and couldn't help but whistle, "So cool! Boss, I highly recommend you take the bike out for a spin! I bet if you put on some sunglasses, the ladies will go crazy!"

"And then I'll get targeted by bike thieves?" Honestly, Chen Mo was slightly tempted, but considering the consequences, he sighed deeply.

At that moment, Ben Ben quickly went online and returned with the details. "The Dodge Tomahawk, hailed as the world's fastest motorcycle, features a VIPERV10 Viper engine and full-suspension sports car tires. It reaches a top speed of over 600 kilometers per hour, priced at $555,000, manufactured by Chrysler in 2003."

"Wait, what did you say? 600 kilometers per hour?" Hearing the figure, Chen Mo paused, even his calm demeanor showing signs of astonishment. At that speed, would it even be visible, or would it just be a blur? Was this a motorcycle or a plane?

In fact, as one famous motorcyclist described after testing it, "When you ride the Dodge at full speed, you feel as though you're being pulled upward by the wind, like God's hand helping you soar..."

The room fell silent, with Che Che turning to examine its new form, the two headlights flickering wildly.

Moments later, the three creatures suddenly lunged at Chen Mo, shouting in unison, "Boss, that's not fair! Why should Che Che get all the fun? We want some green light too!"

Even a fool could tell that with Che Che's cultivation speed, it would take another hundred years to turn into a Dodge motorcycle. So the real cause of its evolution clearly lay in the green light Chen Mo had just infused.

But Chen Mo himself was still unclear as to why the weak green light had suddenly erupted like this... Wait a minute, could the key be...?

With a slight spark of realization, Chen Mo quickly reached into his pocket for the shard of jade, but paused, his face showing mild surprise.

The creatures exchanged puzzled glances. Chen Mo turned to the rice cooker, snapping his fingers. "Guo Guo, hand over the jade shard, it's crucial for us!"

"I didn't take it!" Guo Guo blinked innocently, looking pure enough to play an angel.

"I really didn't take it!" Feeling the distrust from Chen Mo and the others, it rolled around the floor, then swore, "If I took it, I swear that all the underwear I've collected will turn into ones worn by middle-aged women!"

Admittedly, this vow was even more poisonous than arsenic, so Chen Mo and Nuo Nuo exchanged a look and were about 60-70% convinced.

But Chen Mo soon furrowed his brows, murmuring thoughtfully, "Strange, I clearly remember putting the jade shard in my pocket, and it should have been there when we returned to the shop… Damn it, we need to go back to the shop, immediately!"
